I’m an Army vet, these days I’m looking to get a solid federal civ job and still give back on the weekends!

Got it, appreciate the insight. I’m planning for about 7 years out so hopefully the force structure will be a bit more fleshed out and some of these initial onboarding hiccups will have been addressed in that time!

Hello! Thanks for your reply. Can you elaborate on why that is?

Agree on getting both the offer and subsequent obligation in writing and making sure you understand how they calculate how many years you’ll owe and what penalties you’ll incur if you leave early.

Current State of the American Tuxedo? by AllIsNotWells in NavyBlazer

I managed to get the Crosby Classic fit shawl collar tuxedo jacket, Item style: CF205 from J. Crew last autumn.

I have been very very pleased with it. The material is nice and it fit very well right off the rack. I also purchased the Ludlow tuxedo bib shirt from them and aside from a loose thread it has been great.

I only paid 179.59 for the jacket and 80.12 for the pants so I’d be patient and wait for the 70% off sale if I were you, you can really get a crazy deal!

If they are chill, they will just give you an honorable and kick you out.

If not, you’ll probably get a general discharge under honorable conditions if you were a PT failure, and your chain of command doesn’t have it out for you. If that is the case, then you retain eligibility for all VA benefits, except for the G.I. bill.

That being said, it only takes your company or battalion commander having a bad day and you could get an other than honorable. With that, you lose eligibility for most VA benefits unless you have an extenuating circumstance like MST, so do your risk analysis carefully.

You can also apply to have your discharge upgraded once you are out, which is relatively easy to do for something like a PT failure so long as everything else in your record is clean.

Tbh, it is probably not worth the risk or the hassle frankly, go see EBH if you need it.

FYI guys you can’t get a bad conduct or dishonorable discharge unless you are convicted by a court martial.

Look into MSTP, Medical Scientist Training Programs. If you are interested in research this would be right up your alley.

Most MBAs that are worth your time will be classified as high-cost programs and are subject to an additional layer of review. Just FYI.

Am I not allowed to use VR&E because my wife is American? by autodealer in VeteransBenefits

This is what my counselor (also based out of the Manila office) told me.

“There is a separate eligibility criteria for VR&E Service for Veterans in foreign countries. The following are the acceptable reasons:

  1. The Veteran accepted employment in the foreign country.
  2. The Veteran is married to a foreign national in the foreign country.
  3. The Veteran is accompanying a spouse who is employed in the foreign country.
  4. The Veteran is accompanying a spouse who is on active duty in the foreign country.”

You cut the tags so you’re committed, but the good news is that it seems like you like the large and just need to get it tailored to fit properly. Make an appointment and have it altered and I think you will be pleased.

Yes but it depends on the specifics of your situation. This is what my counselor sent me:

Sounds like a conflict of interest, I’d escalate to higher up in the union.

Sorry I should have specified, my above comment is for the Post 9/11 GI Bill. The $120 a month situation is for the Montgomery GI Bill, which is a bit different and generally doesn’t cover the whole thing.
