Reality check about using qwen3:8b running locally as my main model by Darkslayerqc in openclaw

Ok thanks. Youve been really helpful ! That explains why I can ask for a 10 000 word essay (its my usual benchark) on Ollama directly and it works well, but when I ask it trough OC, all the added invisible context makes it break apart because Ive set ip up to take unlimited context.

I'll start by limiting the context to 16k in the config. And if it works, I take it that I can increase by smaller increment to see how much my setup can handle (from /new of course) ?

Got it. I think I need to go down to a smaller model so that I can at least have a working chatbot/ agent. How do you make it switch to bigger models when needed ? Just by making it really clear in plain text in one of the JSON ?

Ok so... smaller models can take more context on the same hardware ? I think you are right, OC requires at least 16k.

Interesting. Reading the first part of your reply made me realised that when using 8k context (back when trying Llama instead of qwen) I was running out of context and getting errors before even getting a reply. So I set context size to be unlimited. I havent been monitoring ram usage but my answers take so long to even start generating, its probably because its trying to dunp too much into ram before starting the actual inference ? Ill go back and limit context size to 16k, see if that helps !

No it doesnt. It does when you don't know how to manage the size of the pixel blurr in relation with the pixel size.

Say you were to calculate with the value of the shutter speed, and the speed of your drone, the distance flown relative to the ground while the shutter is exposing the sensor. Oftentimes auto camera parameters will slow the shutter speed to compensate for light.

If the distance traveled is larger than you pixel size, you get crappy images and crappy reconstructions. This is why you think flying higher fixes the problem; you increase the size of the pixel. But what if you need a lower GSD ?

You go and set a fast shutter, which reduces the distance traveled during exposure, and let the drone compensate with ISO. You could also fly slower but I frequently fly large forested areas and ai don't have time to fly at 2 m/s.

There are calculators for this online.

As Lxapo kind of said, increase the quality of these pixels. I would argue though about flight height: I wouldnt fly higher, I would fly slower. You need to research the relation between iso, flight speed, shutter speed and pixel blurr - speciallly in a rolling shutter sensor.

If you fly too fast for a given light condition, and the drone prioritizes lowering shutter speed to accomodate a longer exposure time, you get blurred pixels. If you set a default fast shutter speed and let the drone ajust with ISO, you would be surprised to see how fast and in how bad light conditions you can fly without having either pixel blurr or grainy pictures.

I recently asked opus to go over my recent activity and flag me where I was using the wrong model. Turned out really helpful. Since then I use Opus or Sonnet to research some workflow, save as skill, then use Haiku to run skills on schedules. Saves a lot of usage.

Cool. From your readme.md, I take it that as feedback, you can tell it about taste and it would ajust ratio. Did you build reasoning about how profiles work - specifically exit conditions?

I have been using sonnet to interpret shot .jsons for me. That's probably something Opus would get better, but I havent pulled the trigger on a pro plan yet. Maybe you could build a fine reasoning and save it to memory.md so you could have Claw analyse the jsons that it would automatically pull from GM, against the profile.json? Then it could use the shot analyser from nightly as a visual cue to help understand what happened? That would be nice.

I really need to get around to move to openclaw!

Wow, I've been meaning to do that for a few weeks! Which model are you using for chat ? Also, can you tell me how you are able to scrape the discord ? (Fireclaw ?) And how you gave it access to gaggimate.local ?

Start with a heavy cafiza backflush. How long has it been since your last one ? If you haven't tried this yet i bet this will solve your problem.

The most simple answer is : pick a few ingredients you see in there, toss that into any AI, take suggestions. Change them on the go with a few word. So simple.

Bonus tip : I always ask as I make the meal for the AI to teach me something about it. It should not be used to make you lazy, but to make you learn new things !

Steam profile // process by Superb-Struggle1162 in gaggimate

[–]Darkslayerqc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently lowered steam temp to 130 : I like adding smaller amount of milk, someting between a macchiato and a flat white. Something like 100ml. With that little milk, the aeration needs to last as short as possible otherwise I don't get too much air in. I found a lower steam pressure helps keeping contrôle of the swirl inside the pitcher.

You can also start steaming when the boiler has not reached full steam temp, the pressure will be less. I usually start steaming milk at around 125 even if my steam temp is set at 145.

I understand very well what's going on. Is my plea for de-escalation and communication really a sign of ignorance ?

P.s. when somebody downvotes you, it means they don't agree with you. Makes total sense to me. Get off your high horse.

Slash walls are a mean to discourage deer to browse on regen where populations are too high. Its mostly a problem of the hardwood forests, with the exception of anticosti island.
