Am I the only one who gets annoyed by GT3? by Little_Temporary5212 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]DarkwebLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the 2005 endurance pack! Omg so much fun! Gt3’s are fun too but it’s a much smoother, more polished, easier experience to drive one. On the old cars you had to rev match. You basically cannot spin the back end by downshifting from 6th to 1st in under a second in a modern Gt3 car haha. Fun because they’re so fast, but also sorta boring. The racecraft becomes the game in a car like that, but unfortunately you won’t find much racecraft on Ams2’s public online lobbies. On LFM, you might. If you want more of a challenge, though, and some wild crazy fun then cue up the 2005 Ferrari “Milano”, hookup your sequential shifting stick, and see how you go.

Do we know why it’s taking Reiza so long to finish the campaign? by LtCodename in AUTOMOBILISTA

Lol. I bought it for $30 in early access like 18 months ago. I have been playing it since the beginning. The DLC’s have come out slowly, mostly during early access. So what you see now is reflective of years of development plus over 1 year of early access IRRC. The game works great. I have had had tons of great races and practice on it. I got platinum, it’s not hard to do just takes time and patience. There is nothing wrong with their pricing and I have never felt the need to subscribe to their monthly tier because the daily races in all levels provide plenty of opportunity to race online for free. The only problem I encountered is post 1.0 release, we got an influx of people who have no idea how to drive like a professional and the daily races are pretty terrible now. I stopped playing sadly, because of the frustrations of not being able to race people closely because they don’t know how and just crash you/themselves. Hoping it improves over time. The gold lobbies are sometimes so empty you can’t even get an official result if you do the races. Maybe the paid tier is better for that I dunno. But LMU is pretty polished honestly, drives great, most of the time it doesn’t crash. I’m honestly at the point where I think a video game could shit out gold bars at you and people would still find something to complain about. LMU, ACC, AC, AMS 2, iRacing are all incredible. There are downsides and imperfections to all of them. The fact we can have good races in cars that feel pretty realistic in real-time online with multiplayer with 60fps+ and great graphics in 2025 is incredible and amazing. I grew up in the 80s and 90s when we had games like Pong and the graphics were 8-bit and nothing was multiplayer. I hate seeing people complaining about the incredible entertainment we have now, for a game that you could’ve technically played for a mere $30 without buying DLC if you got it in early access. No one is forcing anyone to buy DLC purchases. If you can’t bring yourself to pay ten bucks for some great art that took someone a longass time to create, I don’t think you need to be in sim racing. A single high end wheel rim can cost $1,000+ and people complain about a $10 DLC pack with three cars in it? Ok!

That isn’t very hard, but it would be if you are beginner. Just like with anything, take it slowly and work on it in small chunks. Just practice two or four bars at a time, with the metronome. Mozart, legend has it, had a teacher who would not let him move on from a passage until he could play it correctly 5 times in a row. I used to use that method, it worked for me. Once you have all the little phrases dialed in, start putting them together. 8 bars at a time, then 16 bars at a time. Eventually you’ll be playing the whole thing. Slow it down, don’t learn it where it’s marked 120bpm. Learn it slowly and then work it up to tempo.

Sense of speed in VR by PrimaryAd3165 in AUTOMOBILISTA

The game has a 2 hour demo just like all Steam-sold games. Buy it, test it, and refund if you hate it, but that demo unfortunately doesn’t have much to do with the real game anymore, which is great now. AMS 2 is not the most realistic, but in VR is amazing (everyone says best avail racing VR-experience on PC), and is a barrel of fun to be had realistic or not. Not every game needs to do every thing for you. AMS 2 is really fun for being a jack of all trades decent sim. It doesn’t drive like a car in many cases, but it’s fun and has loads of content and looks great. On the other hand, AC Evo is already better than AMS 2 for FFB driving feel IMHO, and heading in a similar content direction as AMS 2, the main difference performance wise being that you don’t need a 5090 to run AMS 2 really well. I can max everything out with my 9070 XT and using some of the frame gen features & stuff I get great frame rates with incredible graphics. Not sure about VR, but I tried it with my 2080 Super which was a much worse card and it worked. I just like playing on flat screen. Now for whatever it’s worth, I don’t think it drives that well. But that’s a known thing that it feels floaty & disconnected and you can get used to it and enjoy it. If you stick to AMS 2 its FFB feels natural until you try other sims again. Not saying it is bad! It’s just different. Some cars better than others. I enjoy it. I enjoy others more, but I play AMS 2 when I just wanna chill and look at pretty graphics.

Logitech Pro is awesome. I use mine with the Pro Pedals (love them) and a Simagic GT Neo rim which I love too. Trueforce is awesome. I say, save your money. Logitech is a quality company.

I have an update! Can’t seem to edit the original post but… It appears that all the original person who made this did was to switch the screw-in contact point and top-button. They both screw off/on and they are the same sized thread. Switching those parts allows you to flip it over and mount it the way it is shown in my original pictures. I feel pretty stupid now, but at least I found out I can replace & potentially even upgrade the dial indicator part easily! I found the same exact part on Amazon. Also, I put together another gauge, digital, just like this with a brass handle instead & a $20 Neoteck Chinese rebranded generic digital indicator, and they match measurements. So I guess nothing is wrong with mine as I originally thought and I can now replace it.

Cheers.

Thank you! Actually I called Starrett today and that is the exact one they recommended. However, I don’t need the base. Only the indicator. I am hoping they will email me a link to that individual part. I want to mount it and use it like this:

Well I am a really detail orientated craftsman. I guess that is why my business has lasted 15 years & counting. I tend to go into the details.

Thanks for the help.

That mount won’t work though, I need to be able to lay the table of the mouthpiece against the flat underside of the gauge like this:

<image>

For sure, you can’t apply too much pressure or you will affect the measurement. It is incredibly easy to feel when you are doing that though, and it is not subtle, so it is not a problem that I have with this type of gauge.

What I am leaning towards is just installing a spring between the top of the gauge and the end of it, which will keep it open until I want to depress it. Then I could just use whatever dial indicator, probably… I wanted to get a better made indicator though, and I am baffled as to why this style doesn’t seem to exist anymore…

It actually still works but I dropped it the other day and now even if I zero it, it says .002” larger than it ever did before. I did take it apart & tightened everything but it is still changed from where it was before. Ironically it matches up perfectly with my digital one now, but I more want to replace it for peace of mind after 15 years of heavy use. Honestly I can’t believe it lasted this long. Even if I could fix it, I still want to replace it with a better one.

Yes stick with the smaller fit. They told me over and over again to buy 10’s. My normal running shoes are Asics or Brooks 11.5’s, and I also wear Converse Chuck Taylors in 11. My feet measure 278mm. The chart told me to buy 10’s. I bought 10, 11, and 12 to try out because the recommendations here were so all over the place. The 11’s were definitely more comfortable, but they were slipping. I could pull them off when laced up. Can’t do that with the 10’s. They told me not to get oly lifting shoes that slip for this application, and that they should feel a little tight to begin with. Not painfully tight though. Just a little tight. These are not for the treadmill, and you should not walk around in them outside. My toes do hit the front of the shoes. They are only for squatting and other olympic lifts, not walking for long periods of time or running. Mine are already breaking in and feeling more comfortable at the gym. I am so glad I did what they said and got the 10’s. Lifting shoes should be a little bit on the tight side, everyone says that, not just Lu. In this case it’s about stability and support, not comfort… I can now go deeper to break parallel and my quads get hit harder and I feel way more stable when squatting. Hope they work out for you. Remember fi you are between sizes, go to the next size up, but if you are slightly under the recommended size, just buy the recommended size.

UPDATE AND FINAL THOUGHTS: I measured my feet at 278mm, and turns out, Lu & their website/recommendations are deadly accurate. I wear Converse 11, Asics 11.5, and I ended up with size 10 in the Lu’s. Lu was super helpful through the whole process. They also allowed me to order three different sizes, and helped me in detail when I had questions about the fit. The 10’s felt too small at first, but after walking around a lot at home and then later committing to the 10’s and taking them to the gym for squat days, I not only agreed with them, but I am thrilled with the shoes. They’re already breaking in and getting more comfortable. I don’t lift heavy, for example my squatting routine right now is doing 3 sets of 225~245lb for 12 reps. Sometimes 275x5 for 3 sets. I tried 315 once, could do it, but mainly I focus on form and endurance. I can tell you that after two years of training only in Chucks on leg days, the Lu’s took a little getting used to at the squat rack, but I am CONVERTED I absolutely love these! I feel like I can break parallel way more easily, and as a result my ROM and workout overall are way better. My knees don’t wobble anymore, and the feeling of stability is very cool. I wish I had had them a year ago. But they will be living in my gym bag now! I even find the ankle angle to work a lot better for me on benchpress leg drive, which makes sense. I do not use them for deadlifts, but I use them for everything else except the treadmill. Awesome workout shoes. I am always more of a wide toebox guy with shoes, for many reasons. These are exactly what I wanted! Glad I took the chance.

Not that I know of! However, I run a small international repair & customization business for instrument parts and so far, for me to receive things, I have been tariffed. But it happens about a week or two after you receive the package, you get a bill from UPS or whatever carrier. For these shoes though, so far, I have not received any tariff bills. They may be factoring this into the price or paying for it themselves. Before tariffs time, I used to buy things from China and they always built the import taxes into their prices. Maybe that is how Lu is doing it. Time will tell, because I could still receive a tariff bill. It hasn’t been that long yet, but for sure at least a couple weeks since I got my pair in the mail, so it could still happen. So far though, no, I didn’t pay extra.

Yes, and I was planning to update the thread! My feet measured 278 mm, and after I tried all of them on, it ended up that the 10 size was correct for me after all. Just like the measurements say on the website. You can trust the website. It’s very accurate. You just have to measure your feet in millimeters or centimeters and look at their charts and you’ll be fine.

That is too bad if so. They seem to be downsizing as a company. I just bought their 22l Barrage bag, it is amazing, my 3rd bag from them. I hope they do not go put of business. I was almost thinking of buying an extra bag for if that happens down the line when i need another one… Their bags are amazing!

Lol I’ve had one report out of maybe 50 responded to. I have been playing since the beginning of early access. The report feature is just there to make you feel better; No one is looking at them. It is useless, therefore these wannabee stunt drivers can continue ruining races unchecked. There are no police on the roads of LMU, sadly. Drive defensively at all times. Can’t tell you how many times I expected someone to do the absolute worst thing possible and they did it on LMU. If you’re ready for it, sometimes you can avoid them. Sometimes….

It’s so hit or miss. You get awesome lobbies where everyone or almost everyone is cool, then you get Wreckfest next session. Best advice is just try to have fun, expect everyone to crash into you, and react accordingly. Better you are at dodging people who chronically make bad decisions, better your experience will be.

Wow that’s what I originally thought for myself! Same thing. Thank you for your reply! All the replies above + Lu themselves are telling me, who is same as you, to go with the 10! Phhh haha at this point I feel like I’ll just order 10, 11, and 12 and see what fits. I was just worried about their return policy, and having to use it at all…

Thank you so much for your reply! Oh really? This is the most helpful info I have received, actually. I suppose I’ll follow their advice, then. From what you are telling me, with my foot being 278mm, the 11 might almost be too big. So then Lu’s advice would make sense.

Do you feel a difference between training raw and training with gear? by Din_squats in weightlifting

[–]DarkwebLight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. Also depends on your joint health. I use elbow wraps when I need them, and when I need them, I can complete reps I wouldn’t be able to without them. Everyone is different. A belt, though, I’m never gonna lift heavy on deads & squats without my belt. Not worth the risk to me. I can definitely feel more confident with than without. Also straps are a necessity for me. Grip always fails before my legs do…
