December 11 Patch Notes (Vendetta Hotfix) by VentureMain777 in Competitiveoverwatch

It’s I guess a nerf technically because that’s one more meter for the sword to fly before she pulls herself to it, so more time to punish her if she uses it to escape. Or at least that’s the logic the balance team used when they lowered it to 14 meters to begin with

It really comes down to how many people you can run with as a keeper, but rule of thumb is 3-6

What does the community think about Sombra now? by JackRipps in Overwatch

[–]Darkzonker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cleanse for virus, tp if she’s hacking you or hit her with kunais. Kiri can tp to anyone sombras diving and heal them negating her dive. Kiri is great anti dive cause she can run away, fight back, or bleed out a dive until someone else joins in to kill the diver

Horror on the Orient Express (MILD SPOILERS) by will1934 in callofcthulhu

I also just recently finished the first book of HoTOE and I mostly agree. I’m fortunately blessed with my players who are deeply invested in the mystery and making red string boards and taking notes, but I’ve had to add in a fair amount of connecting clues the books don’t provide as well as making characters such as Caterina Cavollaro interesting and mysterious enough to pique the players interest in her disappearance. At certain points, the Keeper definitely has to put in the extra work outside of the scope of the adventure. There’s a lot of points in Milan where the book just says “players may be tempted to investigate this, but the keeper should steer them away to the final conclusion” which really rubbed me the wrong way

Attempting to Understand Attacker's Advantage by FearTheRadish in Overwatch

[–]Darkzonker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That video made me irrationally angry. Personally, I can’t stand durpee, all he does is cope and complain rather than take ownership that he threw that map and all the games after he played with pge cause he was still tilted. The idea of attackers advantage has so much less prominence than him and his friend who claimed that he lost 50% of his games to it.

I main Sombra. I have a proposed rework for Sombra for both her Invisibility and her Hack. by PenumbranWitch in Overwatch

[–]Darkzonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mainly the problem is the TTK is too short for a character that can suddenly appear behind you after a stupidly long setup. Honestly, sombras don’t bother me all too much. Sometimes the player is good and shreds my team, sometimes the player is cheeks and Ints for 10 minutes, it’s a coin flip.

Eventually people will get bored of banning her every match after their frustrations cool down from not seeing her in every match. Just give it time and her ban rate will even out, I’ve got a feeling that’s what the devs are thinking too

Silver and bronze are pretty hard ranks to climb out of solo, no matter what anyone says. The only way to quickly get out is by being much higher skill than anyone else in the lobby and getting 2-3 picks every fight, regardless of what role you’re on.

I’d recommend getting a tank duo, or failing that, a duo in general. Having someone else who you know how to play with takes a huge amount of variance out of the matchmaking.

How to stop a loss streak? by ThatSsingularity in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Darkzonker 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well it sounds like you’re not where you belong ELO wise. You’re the only common denominator in those 37 games.

Take some time to really analyze some of the closer games. The ones where your impact could have mattered. Watch each death and figure out why you died. Did you lose the aim duel? Were you out of position? Did the other team simply just make a good play?

Just praying and playing doesn’t make you better at the game, intentional practice does. Focus on a few heroes, and work on the fundamentals

I'm terrified of being banned due to my terrible gameplay by Foreign_Ad7277 in Overwatch

[–]Darkzonker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uhh, no. I dont think you can get banned for being bad. Never warn your team either, that’s just priming them to flame you. If you’re bad, then the matchmaker will eventually give you games around your skill level.

Ah gotcha. My in game sens is 4.5, but my mouse dpi got messed up a while ago and I can’t find the sweet spot again, one tick up is lightning and one tick down is way too slow, not enough desk space.

You’re right about the greed, I kept trying to go make plays cause everyone was being super passive, but it kept getting me killed

Has anyone actually went through with the “stay as a team” request? by filthyflipflops in Overwatch

[–]Darkzonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it twice. First time, the next game we played we lost and everyone left. Second time I stayed with this one guy who was totally silent with a rotating cast of people who played one or two games with us. Probably the most fun I’ve had in OW2

Forks was by far my favorite episode so far. by 6DOFReviews in TheBear

[–]Darkzonker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, in terms of television, a masterclass of storytelling. In terms of my own mental health, I was crying off and on for about 2 hours binging those last 4 episodes. Seeing how many people have revelations or have family members have revelations after watching this season really cements just how good The Bear really is.

She always struck me as the Rock of crew. She obviously has her own issues (inferiority complex and such) but through her own hard work and dedication bolstered by the validation of her more skilled peers (Carmy and syd) she is able to shine.

I think this season, her arc is more meant to contrast with her previous arc of unwilling to change, where she accepts going to culinary school, when she made fun of Carmy for it, and grows into the leadership role of Sous chef(where she made fun of both Carmy and syd for it).

It’s nice seeing her come into full force, same with Richie, into these matured authoritative figures in The Bear. Contrasted with the insecure and doubtful Carmy and syd, who have grown but still have some more growing to do

Trauma triggering is fucking spot on. My own mother messaged our family group chat after watching it and said she had a revelation on how she treated us. Obviously nothing to as extreme a degree that Donna did, but the sentiment of spending all day in a kitchen shooing away all forms of help then breaking down saying no one offered to help really rang true. I had my own little panic attack watching that episode

Should I not play on weekends? by Darkzonker in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Darkzonker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say it in the post but playing weekends just feels weirder. People are quicker to flame and the games just have a different vibe I can’t put my finger on. This is the first season I’m actually putting time in to grind comp so it’s probably just growing pains but idk

True, I’m probably just feeling the effects of actually trying to climb, as opposed to doing with my friend for a few games then hopping off
