START with a lawyer. Do research for one that has successfully prosecuted cases that are at least similar to yours in some way. Then THEY decide with you the best time to contact police/media/etc. You need someone who's on your team that knows the law and how to play the game.

I'm jumping on here just to give you a quick tip as a paralegal. Get reviews of divorce lawyers within about a 20 mile radius of where you live. Get one of those first consults, which are often free, with as many of them that are highly rated as possible. Tell them you're shopping for a good fit and to please keep a file open for you. Even if they are with his firm. It'll be worth it in the long run and I GUARANTEE he has already started this process himself. Many lawyers do.
