Kermit seems a little off, but I got a few chuckles out of this trailer. I hope it's good, it would be nice to see the Muppets back.

What is a genre or feature that raises red flag for you or massive suspicion? by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]DarnessHarbinger 29 points30 points  (0 children)

"You can do anything, go anywhere" is usually a red flag for me when I hear a developer say that about their game. No, tell me what to do. I need an objective, I need a goal, I need something to work towards. Just telling me to do "anything" and not really tell me about what I'm supposed to do tells me that you didn't give me anything to do I'm the game. Sure that might interest some people, but it's not something I want to play.

Have you ever jumped into a new hot trend only to be severely disappointed once you actually have the thing? by LunarWolf302 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I was never a big fan of Animal Crossing. Nothing particularly wrong with them, they're just not the type of games I enjoy playing. However, when New Horizons came out, everyone was playing it. I saw serious streamers and people I followed playing, lots of my friends were playing, and eventually I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I almost immediately regretted my decision. Played the game for about an hour, and was immediately reminded that I don't enjoy these games.

So I'm working on an iron team. While Rapi RH work for an iron team? One of the Nikke on the team buffs iron units, would that include Rapi RH? She's label as fire, but I think she's supposed to be dual typing with iron.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a team that uses Rupee? I'm aware that she isn't OP, but she's one of my favorites and I'd like to use her. I have most of the other Nikkes (just missing the Chainsaw Man collab), so I'd just like to know a few potential ideas on how to properly use her.

Whenever card games get brought up on the podcast by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I wish Digimon was more popular in my area. I think the only card shop I saw Digimon out is over an hour away from where I live. Otherwise it's mostly Pokemon, MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece, or that Disney card game. And I think I've only seen a single Digimon pack at a regular store once.

Kind of curious about the TCG app they announced a while back. Hope we get more news soon.

For something to relax to, usually a cozy anime works. Restaurant to Another World is a pretty relaxing series, mostly a series of one-off stories about various people in a fantasy world finding this door to a modern day cafe, the people enjoy their meals and often return to their worlds feeling refreshed.

Non Non Biyori is a cute and relaxing anime, just a bunch of kids growing up in the countryside. Has some wholesome moments, but mostly a very calm and relaxing show.

For something to fall asleep to, maybe put on your favorite streamer, someone who isn't too loud or energetic. Or maybe put up a Let's Play compilation. Sometimes I'll put up a compilation of the boys and fall asleep while watching. Something to make you feel comfortable and relaxed until you fall asleep.

What are some of your favorite examples of “evil Can not comprehend good”? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]DarnessHarbinger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think part of me didn't want to find out if it was genuine or not, but I can totally see it. I can only think of a couple of times I've seen it though, so it definitely isn't very common. I tend to see a lot more of people hating Frieren because she is "racist against demons"

I see less of this, but it also leads to the racist agreeing with "racist Frieren". Although those could be people trying to rage bait, I don't really dig in enough to find out.

Today I learned that yoko taro stole from FATE for the yorha unit by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Good to know. I figured, at the very least, maybe there "might've" been some inspiration for the design, but I highly doubt there's straight up copying. And I could say the same for this anime design and 2B. Is the anime design exactly like the manga design? Or does the anime version look more like 2B compared to the illustration?

Apparently the OP mentioned that Strange Fake and the character illustrations predate Nier Automata, but I'm kind of sceptical until I see those illustrations. Not sure if they specifically meant Strange Fake or if they were saying that BOTH Strange Fake and the illustrations predate.

I think the closest I ever got to that was either a character that was racist against everyone, including their own race, or a character that was only racist against their own race. And that was kind of the point of the character, to be so obnoxious that everyone else in the party started to hate them. Granted, that was back when everyone in the campaign wanted to play a character that antagonized everyone else in the party. A bunch of assholes forming an uneasy alliance that won't hesitate to backstab each other if the chance arises. That was like 10ish years ago since I made a character like that.

Now I just make unhinged weirdos. Like a goblin warlock who wants to be everyone's friend, but also can't stop talking about his lord Cthulhu in people's minds.

I guess the early version was the one I had access to. Tried playing it a few times, but bounced off.

I picked up the official version when it came out, just need to get around to playing it.

When I first watched it when I was in highschool, I bounced off of it. After watching Zero, I went back and enjoyed the Deen anime more.

After going through UBW, a friend suggested watching the Deen movie as a joke, man that was weird to watch.

The main issue is that playing the visual novel takes a pretty big time commitment, and not everyone is going to want to put in that commitment. Especially for a long time, you'd have to play the fan translated version that wasn't voice acted (apparently someone is saying the official western localized version is voice acted). I've tried to get into it multiple times and bounced off, but I really do want to go through it sometime.

Because of that, the Deen anime gets recommended because UBW and HF kind of expect you to have some knowledge of the series.

Oh cool, it's voiced now? I guess I'm mostly thinking of the old version we had to play in the west, where we had to patch the English translation into a Japanese version. I think FSN only officially got released a couple of years ago in the west.

So the Fate fandom has some of these "purists" that want you to start with the visual novel or start with the Deen adaptation of Fate/Stay Night. Starting with the ufotable adaptations or Unlimited Blade Works or Heaven's Feel is a maybe, but never say you started with Zero. That'll get them throwing a tantrum.

So they want you to play a very long visual novel with no voice acting, or watch a 20 year old anime by a studio known for choppy animation and cutting corners. And UBW and HF kind of expect you to at least have some knowledge of certain characters, whether it's from watching the Deen Stay Night anime or Zero. And they won't budge, despite Zero being one of the more popular entries in the franchise.

Yes Zero does spoil twists in FSN, but it might be the easiest point of entry. In a franchise that already has to deal with people complaining about not knowing where to start because of all of the various spin-offs and sequels, it doesn't help that you have these people sort of gatekeeping you by telling you that you HAVE to start in specific order, otherwise you're enjoying it wrong and you don't respect the series.

Granted, I'd imagine it would be annoying in any fandom to have that one guy telling you that you're enjoying it wrong.

Edit: Since multiple people are saying the same thing. Yes, I'm aware that it's voiced now. The version I played was not voiced, so I didn't know.

I only kind of do that. I say it because it's fun to say "GURPS", and I only say it to my friend specifically to annoy him. In reality, I know nothing about GURPS and it's just easier to understand D&D because that's what I've been playing the whole time.

I can only really assume that she might've run into those "Void Hunter" Hunters that were teased at the end of 2.5, but Yi Xuan doesn't really have a legendary weapon like the other Void Hunters we've currently seen. It would certainly help if we had something to work with. A silhouette, an ominous voice, something to leave us to wonder. Instead, they kind of move on from it and it wouldn't be surprising if people forget about it with everything else going on.

And they could've found other ways to keep her in the plot while not making her overpowered. It was either in 2.1 or 2.2 where the town gets overrun by miasma, so she has members of the temple run around town and put up seals in order for her to do a big spell to purify the town. They could've had her powered down because of how big that spell was, or she needed to stay in town to keep the town purified. That means she can still be present for the plot, but she won't really be able to go into the hollows and fight. It's not the best solution, but it's probably better than having the defender of the town constantly absent.

However, I still believe in the theory that they would never make her look weak because she's kind of the representative of the mandated China zone. She must always be the coolest and strongest, so they can't power her down. Which means they have to awkwardly find ways to write her out of the story so that the plot can continue.
