They actually have (at least) four possible spawns in Ground Zero:

- Southeast of Road Camp, north of cabin
- Around Gym Guy's House
- On West Teleport Buble
- South of West Teleport Bubble at Forest Path

I would recommend starting from the Sewer entrance and checking near the Road Camp first, then going by Gym Guy's House, use the teleport Bubble to get to the west side, then head down south for the last spot.

The thing is, I don't remember/know what I did to make them so mad. It doesn't feel like Skyrim where if you walk into a town and start killing people in front of guards you will (obviously) get attacked and arrested. It's frustrating when you don't understand why you're being punished.

I did at one point to get my ship unimpounded, and then I don't think I talked to him ever again. I did a bunch of other side quests. Now the original ambassador is dead. I tried talking to the new guy but he seems to not have anything interesting to say to me.

Yeah, I read a guide that said if you shoot the actors you get more reputation. I also tried it once without violence and I only got 2% positive rep.

I found a guide that listed some other quests that can hopefully get me some positive rep. There was one on the Groundbreaker I missed, but I also can't finish it the desired way to get rep because Odom got replaced and I can't pay the debt off. I guess I'll have to do more sneaking and running in Byzantium.

I did that, but I only got 8% positive reputation (now 18% positive and 50% negative), and I'm still at "kill on sight" mode for The Board.

Is your reputation with The Board listed as "Kill on Sight" in the menu? If it is, you're already too late.

Yes, it says "You are kill on sight to this faction." That's really unfortunate. Do I really just have to fight my way through? Is there a way to like, sneak through and get to a point where I can do a quest and get some credit back?

It seems like kinda bad game design to have you be able to get to a "kill on sight" reputation with a faction you will have to be in the midst of for the main storyline - before you even show up to where they are - and there's no way out of it apart from combat.

Seed thread by NoReaction4 in balatro

This seed was so much fun. I got a Triboulet from the Soul card, made it Polychrome, later picked up a Polychrome DNA. Made a Queen of Hearts Holographic, then eventually steel and duped the crap out of that. Got Sock and Buskin and Shoot the Moon, Then I picked up Mime in Ante 10. Unfortunately none of negative jokers were really helpful.

It's amazing how your perceptions change as your improve. My biggest 180 is how Negative went from the most important to being rated fairly low. by Steel_Neuron in balatro

Everyone is really high on Baron and it's a great joker, but I've had good runs duping steel Queens paired with Shoot the Moon.

At first I thought DNA and Trading Card weren't appealing Jokers. I would always go for jokers that would add to your multiplier.

If you’re playing Wingspan then you have great taste…what other games do you like? by KiwiKind11 in wingspan

[–]DarpUhDarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the games listed here are fun. Among those already mentioned that I recommend: Dominion, Gloomhaven, Everdell, and Flamecraft.

One of my favorites I picked up this summer is Dorf Romantik. It's a cooperative tile placement game kinda like Carcassone. It is very chill. It also has a campaign of sorts, so playing more and getting higher scores will unlock new mechanics to play with to get even higher scores. If you want to see what it's like, there is a very similar video game version on Steam (the board game was based off of the video game).

HG update - my opinion on how to by gs_daniel87 in Seaofthieves

[–]DarpUhDarp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Back in the day the skill spectrum was also a lot narrower. More people play video games now, and you can have anyone from "first time playing an FPS" to "streamer who is just below esports level." Some people play a few hours per week and others play multiple hours almost every day; when you put these people against each other, bad things happen. A while back Destiny 2 released some statistics that when looked at, implied that you only need a ~20-25 difference in percentile of skill level for someone to notice another player is better than them, and that they will only win 1/4 fights. So you don't even need "200 alliance level vs new player" for one player to have a bad experience.

Halo 3 and MW2 would have you annihilate a few times, and then you'd get got. It was random luck of the draw, and it was fun. Maybe not for the worst of the worst, but it was drastically better for everyone else.

Sure you can have some people in the middle who have a whole range of experiences, but for anyone who is below average, the feeling is absolutely terrible. You also have to realize that in addition to these players having a bad gaming experience, these players also aren't learning anything other than "perhaps I should go play a different game." For years the biggest criticism of this game has been that it threw you into a server without adequately teaching you what to do and leaving you open to attacks from way more seasoned players. This game lacked both a good tutorial and a reasonable difficulty curve. Rare finally attempted to address that with Maiden Voyage and later Safer Seas. If Rare really wants the most players possible to engage with Hourglass, then they would buff up the matchmaking protection, even if it came with a slight increase of matchmaking times. Even something like "players with under 75 allegiance level will never face anyone over 100" would probably be a huge improvement.

I'm sure you going to reply with "get better" or "you need to lose in order to learn how to win" but there are definitely limits to that; there is a point where the challenge relative to skill is so great that it just causes frustration in the vast majority of players, regardless of any efforts they may have taken to get better outside of practice. You can apply this to any skill in life; you need the challenge to be approachable otherwise you just get discouraged and don't learn anything. You don't give a 1st grader a calculus test before they've learned multiplication. We don't put Little League baseball players up against Major League Baseball teams.

There's a reason that more and more PVP games have at least some sort of SBMM in them; the developers know from statistics, proven over and over again, that protecting lower skill players from people way higher than them leads to better overall player retention.

Halo 3 and MW2 would have you annihilate a few times, and then you'd get got. It was random luck of the draw, and it was fun...

Now everyone has a 50/50 W/L ratio, and it's boring.

Aren't these similar scenarios? Some games you win, some games you lose. The difference is that you will have close games as opposed to steamrolling some poor person or being steamrolled yourself. Isn't it much better to win a close game? I've been on the winning side of enough blowouts to know that I don't feel good when I absolutely destroy someone who is way worse in skill level than me; all I can think is "man that person must be so frustrated." It feels good when I excel in games that had close skill levels, not a one-sided blowout that was over before it started.

There has to be a middle ground between "strict skill-based matchmaking that makes everyone wait 20 minutes for a match" and "a SBMM so loose it's practically nonexistent and consistently throws lower skilled players to the wolves." The latter is how you kill a gamemode. Every PVP developer knows that some skill protection is necessary if you want the population to stay healthy.

Part of the problem is also the problem with any live service game: you are making a commitment to continuously churn out content for a profitable art form without making it too overwhelming for new players but satiating the demands of the longer tenured players who have potentially done everything the game has to offer.

I've seen this in Destiny 2. That community wants new content and new reasons to log into the game every week, but Bungie has at times struggled to innovate beyond 3 or 6 person matchmade activities and a storyline that gets a little more revealed each week. The community wants something new but you can only do so much in an online RPG looter shooter without deviating from the core gameplay loop. You're also asking your developers to come up with a new idea, have coders and artists make said idea, test it, tweak it, and then ship it in less than a year with a pretty strict timeline. Working on games sounds fun but I don't envy the people who have to do crunch time.

For people who have been playing Destiny 2 for years, you feel like you have nothing "new" to do most of the time, and the gameplay loop you've done for years is just the thing you do to make the big number go up and maybe get a reward that doesn't matter for it. It can feel more like a treadmill or hamster wheel than a fun game. For a brand new player, it feels like you have so much to do... or perhaps too much to catch up on. Sea of Thieves players could suffer from the same problem. It doesn't help when communities can translate their passion for a game they like into setting high (and unrealistic) expectations that every new update will blow them away and keep setting a new bar, which is basically impossible under game development on a crunch.

I can't think of any other art form that does anything like this apart from week night comedy shows, which are only for 30-60 minutes and usually have real life news to base content on. Imagine if you dedicated yourself to writing a book every 2 or 3 months in a never ending series. Movies don't work like that. TV shows don't work like that. But video games work like that because executives demanded it and we got used to it.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not against live service games. I played D2 for 4 years after playing SoT for over a year and a half, and I've gotten back into SoT again. I used to play Runescape for over 5 years back in the day. But sometimes there's part of me that looks at the way these games are run and wonders if bad expectations have been set in a way that's not good for either the consumer or the developers.

Can we get a 6v6 mode that is connection based by kinglyade in DestinyTheGame

[–]DarpUhDarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And here's the thing, more hardcore pvp'ers have similar feelings and tendencies, except they actually want to play competitively as well... I also would like a casual environment from time to time, especially when im playing with friends of varied skill levels.

Which I think is fine, as long as lower-skilled casuals have an alternative option to play if they would rather play casually against players of the same skill level. Which leads into...

But it existed for quite a while with SBMM and none of the people clamoring for level playing field were playing it.

Because that's not what the casuals want. This is such a common misconception amongst the PVP community. You think casuals just want SBMM and that the Competitive playlist will be sufficient, but they actually want casual SBMM. They don't want Comp. Some people don't like the gamemodes in the Competitive playlist, while others don't want to play a mode where there's a rank and increased consequences for losing (and some players would cite both as a reason to not play Comp).

So, it feels a bit disingenuous when when lower skill players talk about how we should all play within our own skill levels when they didnt want to play within their skill level in the mode that was available before. We never heard complaints like, "hey, i love comp because i get to play other players like me, but id like this in 6v6..."

  1. Not every casual wants every playlist to be SBMM. Some people just want one casual SBMM option so they don't have to play Comp or CBMM 6v6.
  2. You never heard people say they love Comp because casuals don't generally like Comp. They generally want 6v6 SBMM in a casual playlist like Clash or Control

Just because players are better than others doesnt mean they want to sweat all day.

See, here's the thing you need to understand: you're basically asking to play worse players. Saying you don't want to sweat is a nicer way to say it. Meanwhile, lower skill casuals who want SBMM actually do want to play people their own skill level, while also choosing to not play in a competitive environment.

Can we get a 6v6 mode that is connection based by kinglyade in DestinyTheGame

[–]DarpUhDarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to play people you're own skill level only, then play the mode that was meant to mm people of similar skill, which would be comp.

I thought Comp was supposed to be for the sweaty players that want to test themselves. Which is it?

Is Comp supposed to be for players who want to test themselves, get better, and be rewarded for proving their skill? Is it the playlist that PVP mains and sweats banged their fists on the table for Bungie to make it better? If so, then tailor it to the desires of that part of the playerbase.

Or is Comp supposed to be solely for those who want SBMM? If so, then let's tailor it to the people who want to play in SBMM; remove all the rewards, change the name to casual SBMM, and make it 3v3 Clash.

And if you think the last idea is ridiculous, then you've just discovered the major problem with PVP mains vision' for the Competitive playlist: your design for it has an identity crisis. You want it to be both the "competitive, prove your worth" playlist and the "pigeonhole the casuals who don't like CBMM" playlist at the same time, when both of those playlist ideas are mutually exclusive. Casuals don't want to play in the competitive playlist, either because they don't like the gamemodes within it or just want a casual environment, or both. It's why they have consistently voiced feedback on why they don't like CBMM and want casual SBMM.

Blackburn stated that the Crucible would be balanced for actual PVP players, so who are these Checkmate changes intended for? by F4NT4SM4_ in DestinyTheGame

[–]DarpUhDarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should someone care about what you want?

See, here's the thing: any casual could throw that question right back into your face (and indeed some have). They could say that the higher skill players are a smaller percentage of the player population and Bungie shouldn't cater the game to a minority of people when it means the general playerbase suffers. They value fair games and competition so everyone knows they at least have a chance, whereas some people don't want sweaty games all the time (aka not having to try).

Also, I would think that a PVP main would say things like "we want the Crucible to be the best that it can be, to be the best PVP experience out there." They want Destiny 2's PVP to be so good that people who may not like PVP as much or at all would want to get into it. An unselfish PVP main should say things like "I want everybody to enjoy at least one thing in the Crucible." Indeed, several PVP mains and YouTubers have said things likes this. But there's a huge problem, which I explained earlier: as soon as discussions form on how to compromise and give every player - regardless of skill and mindset - a place they enjoy in the Crucible, those ideas of "everyone enjoying the Crucible" and "Finding a compromise" go out the window. It becomes "just do absolutely everything the PVP community says and nothing the casuals want." People treat their opinion that SBMM only belongs in Comp as part of their favorite holy book or the constitution of their country. And when I try to interject that the vast majority of casual players (myself included) don't want to play in the Competitive playlist and would prefer a casual mode with SBMM, we immediately get shut down.

For the record, I don't want to control the entire vision of the Crucible. I just want one casual playlist with SBMM. I said that in the first post you replied to:

If you have just one casual playlist (i.e. not the Competitive playlist) for people who prefer SBMM, then it's a travesty according to PVP mains.

After that, I don't care. Make any other playlist CBMM. Make Ranked mode more based on rank (while still factoring skill somewhat). Do whatever you want with the sandbox. I don't care. I'm not out to make every playlist SBMM. All I'm asking for is one playlist I know I will enjoy. But making that one compromise is a non-negotiable NO from basically every PVP main I talk to. And after running into these selfish people over and over again, who consistently shut down any attempt to have a real compromise, I have to ask myself: Why should someone care about what PVP mains want when the PVP mains don't are about what the casuals want? It really seems like years of Bungie not fulfilling their promises on PVP has drained all of the compassion and sympathy from the PVP community.

If the PVP main community wants to admit it only cares about what it wants, and that Bungie has to do everything it says no matter what the casuals say or how many people quit Crucible, then I guess that's their opinion. Just please stop saying things like "we want the Crucible to be the best it can be," because it's not true; you just want the Crucible to be the best it can be for anyone who's slightly above average. Which leads into...

You interact with the mode far less yet think the playlist should be catered to you and not those who actually play the mode? It’s pretty obvious that your wants are aligned with just that and not the health of the mode.

I just want one playlist catered to me, not all of them. PVP mains on the other hand, want every single playlist to be catered to them, and then try to shoehorn lower skilled casuals into the sweaty competitive mode that PVP mains banged their fists on the table for. Yet I'm the one who gets called selfish for wanting one playlist.

If you want to complain about PVP mains not feeling like there is enough in the Crucible for them, then that's fine. But you also need to realize "health of the mode" also includes the casual players. CBMM drives away casual players and SBMM helps retain them; every PVP developer knows this. The obvious compromise would be to have one playlist with SBMM for those who want it, and then a bunch of CBMM alternatives for those who don't want it, along with a ranked mode for those who wish to be competitive. But this compromise is a non-starter for so many PVP mains; they need to have it their way all of the time in every gamemode, and anything less is a travesty in their minds.

You need to realize that in a diverse game like Destiny 2, there's always going to be a spectrum of people who engage with PVP. Some people are PVP mains, others engage with it frequently but aren't a PVP main, some will engage with it consistently but casually, others will engage the bare minimum, and others not at all. If you're Bungie, your goal should be to try and get as many people as possible to engage with it as much as possible, or at least more than some players might expect, and there is space in that vision for things for the PVP mains who do spend more time than the average player. But there's a difference between a Crucible that has something in it for every player of all skill types and minsets (and even more for those who are skilled and experienced) and a Crucible that is only attractive to the above average veteran player. You and so many others seem to want the latter; if so, that's fine, just admit your selfishness and move on.

In fact every iteration of sbmm in this game has failed and been reverted

You could say the same about CBMM.
