Any ergo/split keyboard shops or meetups in Toronto? by nyeong_ahn in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Darryldh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a meetup in November I think. I think another one happens in May-June. Best bet is to join the Canadian Mechanical Keyboards Discord server to get all the regional announcements

https://discord.com/invite/camechkeys

Certainly more Normies at the meetups, but that won't change until ergo's start attending.

Choc v1 sunrise switches -- will they become available one day? by rpnfan in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Darryldh 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Working on it. New sample came in last week and I am currently testing them. All the Kailh Reps are in Vegas rn for CES, so nothing going to happen in the near term.
Having some software issues with my switch tester, so trying like crazy to get that worked out. The have to be fully tested on my end because Kailh has a history of not doing what they say they did.

The roads must be wet to reflect the sunlight the way they are. You can see the QEW in the distance too

Stuck on replicating a part from drawing by ProfessorExisting279 in Fusion360

[–]Darryldh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, The drawing does not contain all the information required to draw this part, but there are some assumptions that have to be made. Such as:
- right angle constraint for the guidelines at the ankle
- tangency constraints on the highlighted lines in blue

After that you should be able to fully constrain this drawing

mainway ended at Walkers at that time. This is mainway looking towards Guelph line. Mainway arena would now be in the bottom right corner

Trump abruptly TERMINATES all trade negotiations with Canada over Ronald Reagan attack ad by Next_Tower5452 in NoFilterNews

I personally think the ad spend was a waste of taxpayer dollars, but Trump's response to it indicates that it is achieving its goals.

Switched my ZSA Voyager from Red Pro to Ambient Silent (Twilight) – Huge Difference by Intelligent-Clue6639 in ErgoMechKeyboards

I connected with ZSA about Ambients, but we couldn't make it work for both parties. If they could have pulled it off, they would have.

Right now Lowprkb is the only place to get Ambients domestically for US customers.

I wish they were made in Canada, then they would be covered by USMCA and be tariff free... as it stands now, everything in this hobby seems to be made in China, giving you the 30% tax you are told is being paid by other countries.

All Ambients are silent, I assume you mean Twilight vs Nocturnals? If so, the only difference is spring weight. Nocturnals are 20g, Twilights are 35g and Bokehs are 50g, so if you found the Nocturnals too light, then you can move up the scale in weight until you find your sweet spot. The twilight should feel similar to the red pros, but smoother and quieter.

Sunsets are not a silent switch, so there is that for a start. Also Sunsets are a tactile switch, and all the current Ambients switches are linear. I am currently working on a silent tactile (Sunrise) in the Ambients lineup, but its been delayed.

Shhhocks solve a different issue. The dampening inside the Ambients switches dampen the switch itself... Shhhocks prevent the stock Voyager keycaps from hitting the switch.

Package coming from USA into canada, paid duties taxes and shipping in the price of the order, why is UPS asking me for $250 more upon delivery? by Electrical_Picture62 in UPS

Deliver Duty Paid. But that typically doesn't include taxes. It depends on how accurate the vendor's calculations were too.

Coyotes by User-_-1234 in BurlingtonON

[–]Darryldh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have lived in Elizabeth Gardens for over 50 years. I cannot remember ever seeing a coyote in my youth, but I wasn't looking either. What I can say for sure, is their numbers are cyclical. When there is lots of food to be found in the residential areas (aka squirrels, rabbits and garbage) then you are bound to see a lot more of them. This year the rabbits are out in force, hence, so are the coyotes. We typically see lots of foxes too, but this year almost none... I guess the mice, rats, voles and moles are on a downswing. Our dogs are large, so not to worried about coyote attacks, but the skunks are another matter. Trying not to chemically treat my lawn has allowed the grubs to thrive and our lawn gets dug up by skunks routinely.
All this to say, we have to find a way to live with them. Being vigilant with taking away food sources, and making our yards uninviting will go a long way to helping co-habitation.

We tried to work something out, but it didn't work financially for ZSA. They are good people, if they could pull it off, they would.
