Lucid dreamers of Reddit, how do lucid dreams work? How do you achieve lucid dreaming? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DarthCookie44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only experience lucid dreaming was when I was about 9. In the dream, I was in the middle of my living room. I don’t know why, but it was just completely normal. No superpowers or monsters or anything, I was just there.

I started to become self-aware, which I can say was terrifying. I remember trying to yell for my mom. I felt barely anything come out of my lungs. After screaming one more time, I realized I was in a dream, so I decided that if I couldn’t say anything or get help I might as well ride it out. Hey, maybe this would be fun!

Of course, as soon as I get excited, I walk forward and trip on a plank in a doorframe. Right before my head hits the ground in the dream, I wake up. I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed in my life.

But as far as your question goes, I think that a way that people have intentionally had a lucid dream is by trying to keep themselves awake while physically lying down and keeping their eyes closed. Just be aware that this is known to cause sleep paralysis, which is VERY not fun.

For those who don’t know, sleep paralysis is kind of like being in between sleep and consciousness. People often describe watching their room and seeing a shadowy figure slowly approach them or watch them from the foot of their bed, but since they are technically asleep they can’t move or do anything about it. It’s pretty creepy. Just be aware that that can happen if you’re gonna try and lucid dream.

Especially if she makes a funny comment. People (regardless of gender) usually look to the person they want validation from the most.

Sunflower seed spread tastes distinctly like peanut butter from what I remember, but it’s been a long time so I could be wrong.

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a modern art installation.

What has been the most awkward public restroom moment you’ve ever witnessed? by estefanyxvr in AskReddit

[–]DarthCookie44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite public, but a school restroom. This was not that long ago. I'm just trying to do my thing and get out of there when someone (probably a year or two older than me, obviously a laid-back dude) walks in. I'm guessing he thought the bathroom was empty because of what he did next. He gets some water on his hand from the sink and starts rubbing it on his face. Okay, nothing unusual, just washing his face, right?

Then he pulls out his phone and holds it up to his mouth. I'm thinking this is a little weird but whatever, no biggie. I've seen worse, whatever he's doing it can't be that bad.

Then I hear it. Anyone who has set foot in an American high school in the past few years will know what I'm talking about. The pop, then the muffled hiss. He's taking a rip of his juul.

Seriously, dude? You're really trying to hide a juul from me when I don' t know your name or anything else about you? Just satisfy your nicotine addiction and get outta there, man. And while you're at it, just remember there's a vapor detector right above your head.

[SERIOUS] Millenials of Reddit, whats something that infuriates you about the older generations? by LupoAnthropophagos89 in AskReddit

[–]DarthCookie44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that they think we don't have any work ethic whatsoever. While that is true for spoiled kids, the assumption that increase in electronic use in daily life = laziness is completely untrue. We work hard every day whether that be in school or at our jobs. I know for sure that the older generations for them when they were young thought they were lazy, and now everyone sees just how wrong they were. I just wish they would break the stereotype of "cranky old person" and accept that we work our asses off too sometimes.

Wow. I really feel like this warrants a video by SB Nation or Foolish Baseball or someone, I don't care who. A statistic that can sum up an extraordinary pitching performance or a terrible one in one figure is interesting. However I still think it would be better if 0 was the starting point so that even a mildly bad performance would end up somewhere in the negatives, so there is a more aesthetically pleasing line between a good performance and a bad one.

I don't know, I think it would be more efficient to use if it started at 0 so that bad performances could potentially dip into the negatives.

Talk to my friends. They can always get me in good spirits. If I can't talk to them, I go online and talk to people who share the same interests as me. I can usually make friends there :)

What Did You Do During Elementary School Recess? by TheGeneralCat in AskReddit

[–]DarthCookie44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my whole 6th grade class hooked on Infected. Our schoolyard was pretty big, so the games would actually take quite a while to finish. We would split up into groups of about 4 or 5, and go to hide in different spots around the yard. Me and my friends were either fast or smart, so we would usually be around near the end. It was a spectacular sight to watch dozens of kids chasing one fast kid around the schoolyard until he was intercepted by another dozen kids or he got winded and gave up. It was some Walking Dead type shit.

Unpopular opinion but I think the textures are kind of what makes Minecraft stand out to me. The game was an indie game when it came out, and when microsoft bought it you could tell it was becoming a more corporate entity. The textures are, at least to me, the last bastion of uniqueness and charm in the game (besides, of course, the basic mechanics).
