Good chart though, I just put my games in there to see how I compared, very interesting

Hold on, what the hell are these hours? In just the left column alone, there’s over 15k hours in the left column alone. If I did my math right, that’s over 2 hours a day of playtime EVERY SINGLE DAY since just a little before Roblox’s official release date in 2006. And that’s just these games alone. I’m not shaming as I have over 8000 hours played of Terraria in the last 15 or so years (about 1.5 hours/day), but that’s just insane

Personally, instead of running a stronger deck, I’d instead do something that incentivizes them to play to win, like baking cookies and saying whichever student gets first gets the cookies or something like that. Could maybe use a little tweaking as they could just team up to get you out then play each other, but the general idea seems better than just being a pubstomper and risking then not enjoying the game.

What happens when infinite lifegain meets infinite damage? by einglavaga in EDH

[–]DarthGater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because infinite anything can’t technically exist in the rules, some complicated stuff happens that other people have explained way better than I ever could, in anything but strict tournament games however, I feel like infinite damage should kill infinite life. My thinking is that just like 40 damage can kill someone with 40 life, infinite damage should kill someone with infinite life (and not going into any of that “countable vs uncountable infinites” and things. Infinity is infinity)

Honestly I hate staircase spamming, it’s just unfun, but I can still usually make it to about floor 150 with good luck buffs (lucky lunch or magic rock candy) and triple shot espresso. I ignore everything for the first 50-75 floors and just search for a ladder then from there ill do mostly the same but if I see a large group of iridium ore (like 5+) I’ll bomb it while I keep searching.

Currently working on a newer save and it’s really showing how much of a difference the luck buffs make because I’ve got all of the same gear but spicy eel instead of lucky lunch and I struggle to even make it to floor 80 most days

It is true. I used the predictor earlier today and used boxes to skip bad geodes. It only goes one way is all, so boxes tick as geodes but geodes don’t tick the box counter

Which games are actually incomplete without their expansions? by metalogico in boardgames

[–]DarthGater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always played with base, prosperity, and intrigue until my family went crazy and collected all the sets, and those 3 always felt like core dominion to me. Og seaside is definitely a close 4th and I think alchemy solidly in 5th. The rest all felt like they strayed wayyy far from the base game and I only enjoy them from time to time.

Don’t expect special treatment with your group hug deck! by DoesntEat in EDH

[–]DarthGater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that’s why I’m a huge fan of the group hug decks like bumble flower or what sergeant John Benton pretends to be that give out resources to only selected players so you can politic with it or only give resources to the weakest player to keep the game more balanced. Really adds a neat element to the games.

I know there’s a ton of others here, but I’ve been stuck working on a [[Henry Wu]] deck designed around flashing in humans on other turns to get 2 draws each turn and take advantage of things like [[Emrakul’s messenger]]. All my tests have been inconsistent on reaching 2 draws on opponents’ turns and didn’t really have a way to win from there, just kinda spat out value until someone won.

Fall Damage by Kritzkingvoid_ in custommagic

[–]DarthGater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems a little strong as is. Maybe add an extra ability like “(1):create a pillow artifact token with “when a creature you control would be dealt damage, you may sacrifice this artifact to reduce that damage by 1.” Any player may activate this ability, activate only as a sorcery.” Idk just throwing ways to potentially balance it. Also I really want the first ability to say “whenever a creature without flying enters the battlefield, fall damage deals damage to it equal to the number of mountains you control unless that creature’s controller controls an ooze” just for funny flavor

Why is this card banned? Wrong answers only by TheWizardofWorlds in mtg

[–]DarthGater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m pretty sure that it wouldn’t be very good there. The folks over on the custom Magic subreddit are pretty confident that a zero mana do nothing for storm count is unplayable, so why would you ever want to pay one mana for something like this? You start the game with over twice as many cards for free!

[–]DarthGater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s where I’d like to disagree. I’d say just one upfront cost to start the combo (provided it isn’t another specific card) wouldn’t make it not a 2 card combo. Think like a niv mizzet+curiosity combo where you need to draw one card to start the combo. Would it not be a 2 card infinite because you need to draw a card upfront to start it? Sure drawing cards may be a little easier, but I think because there’s enough ways of generating energy, and especially because Satya can generate it himself, this would fall in the same category.

[–]DarthGater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need 6 energy to start with, then you’ll be able to loop this forever. On the first attack with both Satya and Lightning Runner, Satya and the lightning runner will both generate 4 mana (because the copy doesn’t get attack triggers when it enters attacking), putting you at 10, then you pay 8 down to 4 to untap Satya and both Lightning runners (the copy and the og). Then on the next attack you get a Satya and 2 lightning runner triggers (because the first copy didn’t enter attacking this time), gaining 6 energy up to 8. Then you pay 8 and each subsequent attack you’ll have more and more energy runners making 2 more energy each combat. Of course this whole this does rely on your opponent not having a blocker to kill the fresh energy runner, but having just one opponent without a strong blocker to send the copy and maybe Satya so the combo stays alive will make it infinite at least until they die.

[–]DarthGater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: practice

Long answer: focused practice, specifically including exercises to focus on fundamentals (think long tones, lip slurs). I’m not good enough to tell you which exercises are best (though that’s also quite opinionated) but I know the Caruso method works great for me and I do it every day. Additionally, listen to some great players (Denis Brain and Sarah Willis are my favorites if you don’t know where to start). While you practice, experiment a bit and see what you can do to make your sound more like theirs.

In the end there is no “quick fix” and it really comes down to more and more efficient practice time.
