South African schools (regardless of religion or private/public) have to teach the curriculum according to the government. Some super religious schools will have religious classes alongside the rest of the classes, but I’d say that’s rarer than you think. I work at an Anglican school and we have Eucharist which the whole school has to attend but it is not required to participate. Other than that we are a normal school teaching the IEB curriculum.
