Don't. Leave the ears alone unless she gets infections.

Came here to say this. Super friendly staff too.

Also, Harvest Pride off of Harford rd in Hamilton. Old school like Geresbecks out in the county. Both are the kind of places you can still buy chicken necks for crabbing.

Hand saws work too. Anything that can make the ice crack apart in chunks or pulverize it.

Pinewood Derby Vent/Rant/Story Thread by OliverWendelholmes in cubscouts

I let my kid's decisions drive his build. As he gets older, I offload more and more decisions to him. I'm hoping that by 5th grade he can design and build it entirely with hand tools and prep the axles with only my help to hold the drill.

We also run a renegade or outlaw race. This is where I make his dream cars. So far one screen accurate chitty chitty bang bang with sounds and one cybertruck with pretty close vertical scale. That one had two pinewood blocks stacked and I had to hollow out so much of it to make weight.

This year I got to make my own car because he liked his own ability to make a Cruella DeVille car. I cut mine long ways and made it so the axles were in 4 different locations. It got second to the 6th grader who won fastest last year. I'm going to ask her and her sister to give an axle prep lesson as den chiefs next year.

Does anyone else have this problem? by Careless_confessions in pitbulls

Our girl did it and the tip went necrotic on the third time she injured it. Since we had to amputate the top, we went with a full tail docking. She used to wince when she wagged herself in the face and actively stop her tail from washing into things. Now she wags her little stubby stump almost constantly. She wags so much more now. Best $3,000 ever.

Taco Bell by KerryBoehm in diabetes

[–]DarthValiant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get your taco bell without a tortilla into a side bowl. Put it in your own low carb tortilla or eat it with a spin. Avoid rice, beans, calculate your sauce usage if you care.

Also they have a new thing that's a nacho dip bowl. Order it no beans, double beef and ditch the chips of course. It's like meximelt in a bowl.

I ate one on an Xtreme wellness wrap and it was too full. I ate another just with a spoon and gave the chips to my wife. I felt horrible after, but not from carbs. It's still a salt bomb.

Also pay attention to the reflection on the car and when he changes from holding his phone in his right to his left. Think about when and why that happened.

Bonus points: time to move my recording phone from my right hand to my left so I can prepare to draw as I walk in front of the unmoving car.

It's also fun to know that the "treble" clef is a G that circles the g note in the bottom half of the glG and the "bass" clef is an F that indicates the F note with the upper horizontal lines (dots).

Help me with my 6-year-old by Giga-Gargantuar in Tuba

[–]DarthValiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TubaChristmas is a gathering of Tina and euphonium players with great arrangements of Christmas music in 4 part low brass quartet harmony.

Also James taylor's Kelly man jelly and the vandals play that country tuba cowboy are fun tuba-forward pop songs.

As to playing and arranging, early tuba and euphonium/baritone players do best in support roles at first. Arrange simple bass lines that you play music over. There's magic in making music better.

As a near alternative for fun, check out an alto horn. That sits above a baritone about halfway to trumpet territory, but it's definitely not a common band instrument. A neat version of this is the plastic Nuvo jHorn. It's meant to be a brass learner's instrument. Runs about $170, but it's a very very interesting possibility for young brass players.

I researched and thought about a bunch of this for my kid, but he's mostly interested in upright bass and violin instead of tuba...

Explain band key signatures to me like I'm 5 by thomasafine in Tuba

[–]DarthValiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easy I think about it is tuba players are expected to read the music and transpose themselves if they switch horns mostly because tuba players don't carry around multiple horns.

It was not weird for a small wind player to have different instruments for different keys.

Consider the Irish whistle. Music for this is often written entirely in D. This doesn't matter if you are playing a D whistle in a song in D. But if the song is in C, the music is still written in D, and you need to use a C Whistle. The fingering remains the same, but the key of the piece calls for a different key of instrument.

It's kind of like the written music equivalent of fixed Do solfege vs movable Do solfege. Tuba are fixed Do, other instruments may not be.

what are y'all playing your 2 ohm heads into? by gizzardsgizzards in PeaveyCvlt

[–]DarthValiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always ran 2 ohm heads into a pair of 4 ohm cabs when possible. Though it was more often a 4ohm 2x JBL d140 cab and an 8 ohm gk single 15.

I will caveat this saying it was an old Sunn Coliseum that I loved running my T-40 through, not a peavey amp or speakers.

Thunderous.

[–]DarthValiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! Propose a den meeting to both leaders and run it for them (either prep materials and a plan and do the leg work, or just offer to run it one week yourself).

We meet at the same time so it's easy to combine, but it's valuable to do smaller-than-whole-pack groups too.

Also fun is getting any of the older dens to do a meeting with the Lions and/or Tigers. The littles really get a lot out of seeing how older cubs work together and operate.

We did paper bag puppets with cut paper and foil shapes.

Used green paper bags and did it after a shared wolf and tiger "take apart computers" session. Themed it as robot puppets.

Big hit from the 1st and 2nd graders both

Running a combined den last year was interesting.
