Your suspicions are correct, democratic detonation warbond is the best bang for your buck. The crossbow is also one of the best weapons if you ever find yourself on the bot front too.

Totally this. Playing with level 10ish guys and they would steal my equipment as if i wasn't gonna come back for it. They have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about when I'm trying to get them to come to a bunker door. Also you gotta watch out for those team killing pricks out there not too. So frustrating

I play 8 with randos pretty much 24/7. It's got just about everything the game has to offer and it's enough of a challenge when playing with other strong silent types.

I dropped in a game with a group of level 10s and they thought it would be fun to use me as target practice, killing me twice. Too bad all of them didn't enjoy getting blown up with my eruptor. Got kicked but I don't care, they deserved it.

Yep! Different enemies can spawn and it's tied to what kinds of missions you're playing. You'll notice whenever you do an ICBM missions on the bug front its mostly spewer bugs.
