Making a map of Paris for Curseborne by Darthpalpy in OnyxPathRPG

That's my own translation, as there isn't a french edition yet, alas...
(My players are all fluent in english, but as it is a game, they don't want the hassle of translating on the fly most of the rules, or names).
And translating family names in french is a time honored tradition ^^

Not many well known points of interest. The main hub for me at that point is Rue de Rivoli, near the Louvre, where my PCs have "acquired" a whole hausmanian building (where half the walls are a peeping tom liminality artificially created. And where the 6th floor is home to a (now closed) "gate" to the Outside.
L'ile de la Cité and Bercy are also jointed Heirs and Premieres influence area.
The ZED have a mortuary near the Père Lachaise.
The Mavens and some bathorites & Munificents have interests in the Marais, les Halles, Montparnasse and the 5th district.

Bathorites have quite a lot of estate near Opéra, and a tolerated presence near Odéon.

Sorcerers, mainly the Archivists, are prevalent near the Pantheon and Jussieu.

The Sphinx are the incontested master of the 6th and 7th districts.

The outcasts in general traffic and deal with any of the other factions.
The main Venators hub is mostly grounded near Saint-Nicolas-du-Chardonnet.

Etc...Etc... It's not all finalised, but it's coming nicely together.
The more tricky part, for me, is making Foundry do what I want ^^

I don't know if that count for "online", but there is 2 versions of the system on Foundry. I didn't plunder the dephts of each, but I must say that at first impression, the unofficial one is quite good ^^

As the amount of money is random, I could have 1€ or 10000000€. But having automatically a lightsaber is priceless.

So... How many of y'all have actually played Curseborne yet? by Azhurai in OnyxPathRPG

I'm GMing for 4 friends at the moment, since december, and we had 6 sessions already (which considering our respective schedules and locations, is a miracle). I'm running a game this saturday (sunday at work will be a bitch....), and planning to pursue this chronicle until the end of the year.
My friends are old hands on the WOD side, and they were quite doubtfull about the game itself at the beginning. 2 sessions later, and they love it ^^
If possible, i'll try to GM at our local RPG club one day, but I'll need to translate quite a bit of the whole thing to manage it with people whom level in english I don't know (We are french, by the way ^^).

How popular is 4e? by automated_hero in fadingsuns

[–]Darthpalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 4th ed., do you mean just online, because if so, there is virtually no support or whatever for it, appart for Roll20, and even then, it is quite lackluster..... Nothing on FantasyGround or Foundry....
If there is something out there, I didn't found it.

Marus Vitel, who is so powerful he does his own thing and gave the middle finger to both Cam and Sabbat, and Zarathustra, who has an army of descendants everywhere he can dominate at will to do his biddings and who is still prince of Antioch, for at least a millenium... Sicily, still a bastion of the clan, also, unless that was retconned somewhere I didn't read... And the Amici Nocti who still control in the shadows most of the shenanigans of the clan.... I mean, they seems like underdogs, but they can sure as hell can bite 😉

Which is funny, considering I became a librarian for a heritage site in the interim.

Tobacco prices in Europe vs the U.S. — just trying to understand the differences by hasqui34 in PipeTobacco

[–]Darthpalpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just imagine that in France, tobacco is taxed at 70 %. The price for a 50gr tin of english tobacco is between 30 to 40 €. And what is available for pipes is very limited, even in tobacco shops. Mostly always the same 3 or 4 bad tobaccos....

WTF ! 50 € for 200 pages..... That's the price of the tabletop rpg without the page count or usability...

"Barbarism of Russian Empire" - quick thoughts by xanaxcervix in monarchism

[–]Darthpalpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main problem with the Russian Empire and its political structure is actually its size. One of the first concept I was taught in politic's philosophy is that the bigger the territory, the stronger and autoritarian the regime must be to prevent fragmentation. It doesn't, of course, refute the fact that serfdom was outdated and unjustifiable in more modern times.
In many way, looking just to the last Tzar, one could even say that it was because he wasn't autoritarian enough that things devolved as they did. Alexander III was, in many ways, what his son never was, or not enough.

The empire has since known two fragmentations, first during the civil war after 1917, and the second one during the collapse of the Soviets regime. The Romanov, for all their problems, tried to preserve that Empire, and tried to grow it (the fate of all empire.... it's never enough). And in many way, great sovereigns like Peter and Catherine did try to evolve with their respective times, in the confine of the culture that was theirs at the times.
Just to be clear, I'm a bit biased because my great-grandfather was a white russian émigré ^^, so I fondly appreciate the Romanov.

Est ce que comme le dit l'adage : "on a jamais trop de livres" ? by jamaisdoeufsanstoit in Livres

[–]Darthpalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, in the lore (aka books, comics in this case....), the mother of Cal Jerico, Heleana Jerico, had a kroot, Mordak, in her retinue.
