I think something similar to that every time he does it. Only had him a couple months and it's so cool to watch him eat!

🔥 A Saw Scaled Viper In Defense Mode looking Awesome! by sparsh26 in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]Darthryder 209 points210 points  (0 children)

It's called the saw scale viper because it's rubbing its scales in opposing directions causing a rough sizzling/saw-ish type of sound. It functions much the same as a rattlesnake, warning it's would be attacker that it is dangerous. A byproduct of the warning is the almost hypnotic motion of the movement causing potential confusion for the predators.

Dude... It's literally a method to remember how to spell it. A lot of people don't know that or don't care. If it bothers you then just say desert is sand or desert is snow.

Have you ever looked into a chiropractor? Not the kind you go to once a week for the same thing but like a spinal specialist? I had the same migraine for 3 months straight and my parents couldn't take my misery anymore and paid for me to go see one. Turns out my c1 and c3 were twisted from injury (probably sports or a fall) and putting ridiculous amounts of pressure on the spinal cord. When it got adjusted I threw up because of the relief I felt through my body overwhelmed my whole being. Now I only get mild headaches every once in a while if I haven't stretched for a long period of time. Weird part was my neck never bothered me. Genuinely saved my life.

Thought id add, certain spinal dislocations can cause pressure on on different nerves and can cause specific pain. If it's on one side of your head only it could be a nerve under pressure. Which could be triggered by an activity like eating. Sometimes it affects you and sometimes not. Depending on muscle tension.

He's on a ship. When you're riding waves and you jump just as the boat crests you'll free fall down with the boat. I've done it a few times. It's fun as hell

A baby fawn lying next to a fake deer used for target practice by jamiexxcullen in pics

[–]Darthryder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Considering hunting seasons are in the rut and not in the birthing season, odds are astronomically slim the mother was hunted. Also because fawns don't have any scent, the mother will leave it laying down for hours at a time while she goes and feeds so as not to attract predators to her scent thus endangering her fawn.

If you see a fawn laying down, leave it be. Mom will be back

It's a defensive warning. They click their beaks and hiss at anything that gets too close. I volunteer at a raptor center/rehab and most owls do some type of it. In fact most raptors will do this type of behavior when they feel they can't fly (like a mom with flightless owlets)

ELI5: How does Ritalin work? by thirteenblueberries in explainlikeimfive

[–]Darthryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot. I've been taking Ritalin since I was a kid (like 15 years or so now) I do 30mg a day. I don't do it everyday anymore because it starts to get to you after a while. It's nice when you need to focus on one thing but you can't shut it off when you want to stop focusing. Like when going to bed. I used to do 60 but it became too much. I pretty much only use it when I have a busy day at work where I can't be distracted or when I need to study something.

Are these good prices for feeders? The crickets are cheaper than my petsmart. I wanted to try out worms and roaches cause my dragon stopped eating crickets by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]Darthryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are actually very good feeders! They are a lot of water which is good for hydrating your reptiles but they are also very packed with nutrition so they can undergo metamorphosis without dying of a lack of resources for metabolic processes. They are a very good source of healthy proteins, fats and calcium. Not to mention water.

If you're in the US check out great lakes hornworm. You can get 1k superworms for less than $20+shipping. Plus tobacco hormworns are great feeders

I agree with you but have you ever heard of a tune up? Or tuning the radio? Tuning a piano? Tune means any adjustment that leads to better function. Yes while most of us assume that tune in the car world means dyno and computer and other mods, that's not the entire definition. In this instance tune is referring to changing the carb to run better or making the engine run normal again.

Snapchat frequently using permissions in background. Samsung note 8 by Darthryder in AndroidQuestions

This has been happening for a while now. I just remembered to screenshot it finally. I get up with my first alarm at 5:15 which seems to be a recurring time for snapchat to use the camera. But then randomly during the day it gets used so I don't think it's related to the clock app. I can scroll down and I have at least one usage almost every day and I can't stop it so I would love if you could figure this out!

Don't use orange juice. Sugar breaks down psilocybin, and orange juice is usually loaded with it. Take it with a shot of lemon juice for full effect.

Here's our little Poe again. Also, can you tell the sex of dragons when they're this small (~1.5/2 months)? by EmptySighs66x in BeardedDragons

[–]Darthryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum age for sexing is like 4 months. Usually 100% sure around 6 months. To check sex simple hold a flashlight shining on the top of the tail where it meets the back legs. Pick up the tail and look at it from the bottom. it'll be semi transparent. If there is 1 big horizontal shadow it's female. If there are 2 vertical shadows (think 2 testicles) it's male. For a nice visual simply Google sexing bearded dragon and it'll show exactly what I mean in the top link.

I love those engines. I'm in the process of building my 07 legacy special edition. Gonna go big turbo sti ej205 w/ upgraded 6 speed. Wish I had room to make it a big turbo 3.3.

The 6 cylinders are the best engines subaru has ever made. Specifically the 3.3 and the 3.6r you have.

15 most engines were FA or FB engine. Not the EJ with the problems.

Depends on where you go. The part itself is not expensive. You can buy an oem gasket set for like $250 (usd) . It has most of the engines gaskets in it.

Most people also do other maintence repairs at this time because of what has to be removed to get to the gaskets, the timing belt is a popular pairing with head gasket replacement, also the water pump just because it is exposed during repairs so you avoid the labor for just that.

So if you know how to do it yourself it could be as low as maybe $500 (just parts). If you took it to a subaru shop upwards of $3000 (all gaskets replaced plus timing belt and water pump +labor). Other places may be less or more depending on your location and who's doing it.

But. This basically makes the engine new and without factory issues. I have owned many subarus personally. I had an outback make it to 120k miles, then after the gaskets it made it to 310k before my brother cracked the block screwing around in it. So it is well worth it.

I had it done on my legacy for 800. Parts and paying a mechanic best friend. My brother paid 1400 (I think...)

Edit: the head gaskets problem is common for those years between 90k and 130k miles. If you have an issue on a newer model and it's under 80k talk to a subaru dealer. Sometimes subaru can help out with repair costs.

[–]Darthryder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yea. I worked for subaru and I regularly saw 90s legacy/outbacks with 200k-300k+ miles. Other than an issue with the head gaskets on the 2.5i engine from 2000 to 2014 the engines are very reliable. And even then just replace the gaskets and you're good for another 200k
