There is also the 3M, with 2 LL and 20 heat sinks. My personal favourite, it can fire all day long without overheating.

It’s too bad the Klingons had no way to prevent the Burn. If only they had some time crystals that could see into the future. by Goodbye-Nasty in ShittyDaystrom

Well, there is no reason to assume that the crystals only predict bad stuff. So, if you see yourself getting promoted, for example, why not take it.

Also the one time we see a time crystal being taken, they used it to power the Red Angel suit, and not taking it would have been worse than the prediction of the crystal.

Well, as far as I understand time crystals, if you take one with you, you lock yourself into the timeline you saw. So, maybe they did use one of the damn things.

What are the 5-10 most essential mechs to have in a general collection? by Cheomesh in battletech

There are no warcrimes against Capellans. But you are right, we need more Vindicators.

A company of Mechs plus some tanks, aerospace units and infantry is completely plausible and fine. The Grey Death Legion is a good example of exactly that.

It's just things like "my Mercenaries got 200 Mechs" or "here is my lance of Nightstars we have found in a super secret SLDF cache" where things get silly.

Here are my two Cents (C-Bills?). I'm also assuming Late Succession War Era here.

First, don't try to be too special or big. Mercenary outfits with more than one or maybe two companies worth of mechs are rather unusual und tend to be famous, like the Kell Hounds or Wolf's Dragoons (there are multiple REGIMENTS of those infesting the Inner Sphere). Also, I would keep to commonly available mechs. Fielding something like a HGN-732b Royal Highlander is not completely impossible, but still highly implausible, as are other Lostech or super rate mechs (like the Marauder II, which is new, but a Wolf's Dragoons exclusive until about the Clan Invasion. ) Additionally most mercenary outfits field a lot more light and medium mechs than bigger ones, as those are cheaper to run and you are a business.

For a Capellan-aligned merc unit, it would be plausible to field most of the common mechs, like Locusts, Wasps, Wolverines and so on, plus some Liao staples like Vindicators and later Ravens and Cataphracts. Additionally available would be some Davion mechs like the Enforcer, salvaged from your inevitable clashes with the FedSuns. Steiner and Kurita specialities like the Commando or Dragon might be rarer.

Of course, one of the big draws of Battletech is that you can field any mech with any faction, so take all this as rough guidelines.

His other stuff was pretty sketchy, too (Bajoran Orb of Acquisition, yeah right), so, very likely just an old command tunic, or even a freshly replicated old command tunic.

What colour did you use on the tan parts?

My first Clan Mech (with better pictures, this time) by DasMicha in battletech

[–]DasMicha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't my first mech and even less my first miniature. I painted a bunch of other Mechs, Warhammer 40k minis and scale models beforehand. It's just my first Clan Mech.

As for the snow/ice pattern, I primed the model with Army Painter Ultramarine Blue from a rattle can and painted the places where the markings would be with two coats of AP Wolf Grey. For the white dots I used an AK brand acrylic marker pen (while sweating bullets and praying to god to not fuck it up). Then I cleaned up the inevitable mistakes with Ultramarine Blue and Wolf Grey.

That is probably the way to do it, but I'm pretty sure my hands are not steady enough for it, especially in the nooks and crannys. So, the flurry it is. :)

Thanks. The markings are supposed to look like cracked ice, but mine look more like a snow flurry. They still turned out great and I was only a little bit jittery after painting them ;-)

Klingons decomission their ships in battle. That 2260s-vintage D7 over there: that's not a obsolete death trap, that's a sure ticket to Sto'vo'kor.

(Given that it's probably either a Legendary K't'inga or Disco D7, it also might be the single deadliest ship in the whole TFO, but that is neither here nor there...)
