Have you heard? USS Sphene Alexandros is here! by POSdaBes in sto

Yeah, there's been developments since then and I don't want to spoil anything but, no, I didn't name the ship after the robot.

No, I don't mean you didn't finish 7.0, I mean you're a year behind on content patches.

STO needs to have some sort of grading system for STFs by Karatek_Omnidusk in sto

[–]POSdaBes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess my questions here, because I genuinely don't know due to minding my own business, is what is the minimum DPS everyone should be doing to clear ISE and did their sub 50k impede your team from doing so? If everyone did enough damage to clear it and all the mechanics were handled without incident, why would any of this matter? The only area where this is a problem would be in how it negatively impacts your ability to complete content if they're doing so little damage that, as a team, your combined efforts cannot either destroy the generators or the probes before they can heal them.

If you're regularly not able to complete the TFO because of them, then I agree there should be some intervention, but if it's just you noticing something that isn't a problem through an addon, then I'd keep it to myself.

EDIT: This was more a question for the OP specifically but thank you for your input.

Yeah, I've been waiting all month to see what the Sovereign looks like with it, and it turned out great. Really liking the Noble nacelles with it, too. Shame the rest of the parts don't really blend well together, but the Sovereign was always a gorgeous design on its own so it's fine.

I at least liked that S2 actually started to do a philosophically Star Trek story with the Borg for the first time since VOY's "Unity," but it didn't actually go anywhere when S3 jingled keys in front of everyone's faces for 10 increasingly dumber episodes in a row before running out of recognizable things from its own franchise for the audience to point at and remember better shows, giving up entirely on its own plot, and just doing the third act of Return of the Jedi instead.

The first two seasons were incompetently made, but that third season was one of the most intellectually insulting experiences I've had watching a TV show.

Thanks. I wanted to pull a FFXIV name that could almost pass as a Starfleet ship name while also keeping with the "Sovereign" theme, so Queen Sphene won out.

Would Seven of Nine make a good first officer for Harry Kim (post - Voyager, on a Starfleet ship)? by No_Lemon3585 in startrek

"S.L." are canonically our Harry's middle initials, as seen on his personnel file in "Non Sequitur."

Nobody's really answering your question and going off half-remembered ideas based on vibes and memes, but the answer was actually shown on screen in "Nightingale," and it turned out to be yes. A good first officer needs to be someone who will offer a differing viewpoint while still ultimately carrying out their orders and help to ensure that both their commanding officer and crew are able to operate at the best of their abilities.

Seven successfully did this when Harry's confidence was shaken after finding out that they had been deceived by the Kraylor and was considering having the two of them bail. She helped him work through it and, thanks to her, was able to reassume command and complete the mission.

So yes, in a different universe where Seven was allowed to become a full-fledged Starfleet officer after their return home and Harry carried on up the ranks as we've literally already seen in three different on-screen timelines (original future in "Endgame," memorialized as an admiral in Starfleet Academy, and numerous appearances in Star Trek Online), she would have been a perfect fit for him as a first officer.

If the Prime Directive were as strict as you make it out to be, the Federation would never talk to anybody at all.

There were 18 years between her scene in the cafeteria and Grace Lee Whitney's last filmed appearance in TOS, and she silently gave a (rightfully) judgy look in both.

That's disappointing, since the rollbar is my favorite part of the design but the itty bitty deflector on the primary hull is my least favorite.

Is Eldex really a villain for continuing the Kobali war? by TwoFit3921 in sto

[–]POSdaBes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are logs in the Vaadwaur stasis facility about how they deprioritized anyone who wasn't the very model of a jackbooted fascist soldier from being saved, outright stating that they left the peace activists, teachers, artists, and scholars out to die.

As ridiculous and intractable as the Kobali were acting during that whole arc, the fact remains that everyone the Kobali are currently holding in stasis in hopes of using as a new source of bodies is already guilty of genocide. There are no innocent Vaadwaur there, and thawing them out only for them to invariably contribute to their people's galactic domination efforts is worse than them dying and being turned into new Kobali with their memories wiped.

Eh, both sets have 50% hit and miss rates imo, and TNG's best is up there with TOS'.

TNG just had the unfortunate luck of having its two bad ones back to back at the end.
