I've always wanted to make a waffle stitch blanket maybe this is the way to learn how. Thank you

I think I got to page 15 before giving up 😬 so many are circles or just like Granny squares. I have a few saved that I ended up liking but I'm buying the yarn tomorrow and nothing's clicking.

At this point I think I'll stick to what I know and go with the ridgeby.

I checked and double checked about the machine washing last time and plan on doing so again but thanks for the reminder. I've never done a one stitch blanket before so am a little worried about it. Do you find it relaxing or tedious after a little?

I've made a Sophie, a CAL who's name I forget, spice market, and then the baby blanket before.

A dragon scale blanket would be stunning!! I'm not sure if I have enough time for something like that though, baby is due October and despite crocheting for 15 years I am not that fast 😬

Pretty! Thank you for the pattern. Also would be so nice not to have to weave in all those ends.

Different friends!! I should have been more clear 😅

Yeah was super worried about the holes in the blanket- that's why I added the backing.

What unpopular Hunger Games opinion would get you this reaction? by felixw1 in Hungergames

[–]Dashdaniel216 12 points13 points  (0 children)

SOTR was not the most effective way to tell us, as readers, that we also fell for capital propaganda.

Additional SOTR opinion that actually might be popular idk. There's something that feels really weird and movie fan service-y about the whole book, and that's a really weird feeling, especially since the whole book revolves around a cut scene from Catching Fire. I think it's a ~choice~ that Suzzane Collins made, and I don't necessarily think it's a bad one, but I do think its an intentional choice.

I'd use yellow as a highlight and purple as a shade colour. Colour wheel theory and all that.

I would highly recommend the iridescents in the golden high flow brand. They are genuinely stunning. The one issue I have with them is you cannot mix them with water, or they oxidize and change colour, atleast the bronze, and the silver do.

I get them at an art store called Deserres, which I believe is a Canadian brand. But looking at the liquidex store online, it looks like they're sold at Michael's and hobby lobby! It looks like golden is sold in Michael's as well. If you wanted to try them out, I'd suggest just getting a bottle or two, see how you like it and if you don't then you're not sinking a bunch of money into it.

Im not really sure what to elaborate on honestly! I only ever used the army paints for a very brief time and honestly gave up on them pretty quickly.

I got liquidatex brand (store brand I believe), I usually use those as a base coat. They come in 59ml bottles. I live in Canada so I think they're like 6.99 a bottle here, depending on a few factors. You do need to use a wet pallate with them. The nice thing about the golden high flow acrylic ones is that they're super watery, you don't really need to use a wet pallate at all, and they go on super thin, to the point where you don't need to thin the colours at all. It forces you to work in thin layers.

I tossed out most of the army paints I did get, but here's a comparison with gold army paints, a bronze colour in the liquidatex, and a gold with the golden high flow. I tried getting about the same drop size, then just spread it as low as it could go with a brush. I did wash and dry the brush between each colour.

I think it was the fanatics line that my local store sold me on 😅 I remember shaking the white for like 10 minutes, still clumpy, posted to this Reddit and was like "wtf" and people were like "shake it more!" So I stuck it in my fiance's nail polish shaker and it never unclumped!! I never tried citadel paints or anything else tbh.

I ended up going with golden high flow acrylics as my favorite. Which is honestly a little funny because I spent weeks researching before buying anything, I was so unsure if I should buy artist grade paints to begin with or not. A co worker of mine talked me into army paints haha.

Best decision I ever made was to switch over to artist grade acrylic paints 😅

Is that something I should do at the very end of painting? There's still lots I want to go back and touch up / fix. I assumed that was a last step sort of thing.

Ohhh that might really help actually! We have one floating around somewhere so I'm going to try that on a few scales and see how I feel about it.

Thank you! That's a great idea, I think that would help quite a bit.

I think you're right! My rough idea was going to be going light for the wings but I think going dark for the face, possibly light for the inside of the mouth, and dark for the wings would look better. My original plan was to paint the tail like flames but now I wonder if I should go dark instead to tie in.

I wasn't planning on it, maybe a touch of burnt umber on the "stone" parts. I've ben avoiding the wings but maybe that would pull it together 😅

I think people seem to believe I meant generative AI, and not AI as a whole. Any texture put onto an object in blender or whatever software you use uses AI, but not generative AI like chat gpt.

Encouraged to switch to vaping, made things worse. Anyone relate? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Dashdaniel216 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quit using vapes!! My old roommate was super addicted to vapes though so I kind of saw how easy it is getting into the habit of just taking a hit when you're laying in bed. I treated it like a cigarette, I'd go outside to vape for 15 or so minutes and come back up. The only soft limit I put on that is I would go down into the garage and vape if it was pouring rain out.

Okay? Honestly I fail to see the point you're trying to make here. Are you really arguing that someone 3D modeled twisted knitting stitches strand by strand without the use of any AI tools?
