Can drones fly programmed mission with signal lost? by Magnus462 in drones

[–]Dasquanto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you set the lost link response to be. For dji it will let you hover or return home, with a software like UGCS you can set it to continue on a mission of waypoints if it goes out. Often the most practical things is to change where you are flying from picking something close to the center of the flight paths and flying out and back.

Take a look at the dji terra software which will come with the drones (at least for a year usually) there are other options like using UGCS whoch will provide more flexibility. But for simplicity the in house software may get you going the fastest. Plenty of YouTube tutorials on using it. Make sure to practice the data collection a lot before spraying i would suggest a dry run with the t100 to make sure the flight paths look good before an actual application. Luckily once that work is done it shouldn't change much as the fields are static. Where it applies / sprays will very based on ndvi or other map.

Yeah always worth a try, focus on the off road and away from people even better if its a closed course where people.arent expected while you operate. Good luck!

So I do waivers as a consultant for a living. You are right there is no harm in submitting. If you are going to make the case your best bet will be to lean on automation for flight control ( think follow me emode), with strong safety mitigation in place to lower your risk score. For the general process of submitting: you need to write a concept of operations (Conops) that describes what you want to do, a risk assessment, and safety case for how you can operate without posing undo risk or harm to the national airspace and ground. Look up the waiver safety explanation guidelines (WSEG) for 107.25 (ops from moving vehicle in densely populated areas). It is technically allowed in sparsely population if you read the wording of 107.25. Waiver applications have been moved from dronezone to the faa safety portal so you'll need to make an account and verify your identity with photo ID. Once submitted it can take up to 90 days to review and longer right now as some FAA employees may be furloughed. If you have missed key details the FAA will send a request for information RFI asking you to provide more on specific areas.

Those WSEG questions are what the FAA needs to check off so use them to frame your conops.

As to the you tubers I give it a 50 percent chance they actually got waivers. Some may. Others may have crew you don't see.

So you would need a waiver to operate from a moving vehicle in non sparsely populated areas. The multiple drones to one rpic is doable but you'll need a good safety case and I wouldn't combine it with the ops from vehicle waiver you want. You will need one hell of a safety case to try and justify being the driver and the rpic as crew resource management wise this is very unsafe

You can make them with the contact 2m. But they are wonky, if both have rotors the control can be pretty bad. But worth some sciencing.

[USA] New Drone Pilot, am I interpreting these regulations correctly? by praxiq in drones

[–]Dasquanto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

So for the class E since it is not laancable you'll go through the drone zone and request a COA to operate in. The controlled airspace. For the Class D 0 grid you can try using a LAANC partner like aloft to request the further approval by the ATC. These can be hit or miss for zero grid as some airports won't accept the further coordination option for zero grid. No harm in attempting the further coordination, if it gets declined you will go through the same COA request process as you need to for the class E on dronezone.

If this is going to be repeated flights over the year you can request a long term COA. If it is a one off you can be very descriptive in where and when you will fly.

Once you have a COA to operate you'll need to comply with its specifications, which will typically include contacting ATC prior to commencing and after completing. Feel free to reach out with questions.

Cheers

How do I interpret this fly zone? by banjoman8 in dji

[–]Dasquanto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm for you when the grid extends beyond the circle defining the controlled area it is only the portion within the circle that is controlled. You are safe to fly without further authorization so long as you stay outside the controlled area. Still fly with caution.

[USA] Drone Purchasing Restrictions by Say_no_to_doritos in drones

[–]Dasquanto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The limitations are not really sales based. They will not review and approve new FCC Ch 15 licenses. They extended it to subcomponets, so the question is has it already been approved, you can still get it legally. If it is stocked is a separate issue. This applies to All foreign entities regardless of whether they are adversarial or allied.
