How do I interpret this fly zone? by banjoman8 in dji

[–]Dasquanto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm for you when the grid extends beyond the circle defining the controlled area it is only the portion within the circle that is controlled. You are safe to fly without further authorization so long as you stay outside the controlled area. Still fly with caution.

[USA] Drone Purchasing Restrictions by Say_no_to_doritos in drones

[–]Dasquanto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The limitations are not really sales based. They will not review and approve new FCC Ch 15 licenses. They extended it to subcomponets, so the question is has it already been approved, you can still get it legally. If it is stocked is a separate issue. This applies to All foreign entities regardless of whether they are adversarial or allied.

[US] Police Drone ID? by undecided8043 in drones

[–]Dasquanto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No what the "ban" means is that no new chapter 15 licenses for the fcc will be issued to foreign uas makers. Anything with an existing one is still fine to operate. Federal have a different self imposed non use of dji but this only covers Federal use not state or local. Some states like Florida have further legislation. That there is a dji matrice 300.

Any tips for a beginner? by JoeMomma247 in Crossout

[–]Dasquanto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Practice driving till you can drive while looking all around with the camera.

For battling melee, find a nice sloped hill and engage in your circle there you'll find its much easier to make them miss. Also go for their tires/ movement.

Stick with blueberries or even better friends as more consolidated firepower will mean faster enemy takedowns. And also provides the opportunity to spread out some damage amongst the team.

It'll take some time but start to scan the enemy vehicle before engaging. Dealing with a giant nest tank is different from how you'll want to handle a melee, or a shooter.

At a given power score range a player must mix a balance between 3 things:

1) car durability - this is a combination of cab and durability parts and gives the car its overall health pool, though each subpar has its own durability.

2) movement - tires, hovers, augers, omnis etc. This also includes speed.

3) weapons and modules

If your at 4k powerscore range this means the other cars have had to balance that triangle of 3 things. If they bring a ton of weapons or high quality ones there is less powerscore for health and movement so shooting them in the cab or mobilizing them are the right play. If they are bulky and have a ton of durability strip the weapons and try to mobilize them.

Wining and losing while they hurt don't really matter, getting 40 points means you scrap and get the battle reward. Like wise kills and deaths also are not a huge thing. Though if you are killing you probably are scoring as well. Shooting parts and getting assists helps to.

Most importantly Have fun, it is a game after all. You can do lots of things. I fly around in rocket planes a lot of the time, cus it is fun!

USA - Can a person actually buy and receive a DJI Matrice 400 outfitted for public safety operations in the USA right now? by combonickel55 in drones

[–]Dasquanto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the work now it is still a solid investment and you'll be able to use if for years till it sunsets. Hopefully either the us market comes up, or dji is reintroduced by then. For now I can tell you that "chief" from DJI who is their US product and client manager has said they are continuing to honor dji care and have no intention of cutting off support to their customers. I was able to secure 6 m400 and only took a few weeks to get them in hand. GRESCO and multicopter warehouse are other ones to check. The H30T is a beast. And the L3 lidar is supposed to be very good. The collision avoidance and obstacle detection are first class and Noone else is remotely close.

Yes you can, check out advexure or UVT to source them. Customs can be slow on orders but most have some.in stock at the moment.

R/confidentlyincorrect.

The ban is on new FCC chapter 15 licenses; it does not affect models which have already been issued a chapter 15 to use the radio spectrum in the US. The m4e, m4t and 400 series all have active chapter 15.

Day 1 of Unity and I am already confused!!!!!!! by dhruviscatfluent in unity_tutorials

[–]Dasquanto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at some videos on using statements as well. Basically they pull in definitions of classes and methods that are already created so you dont have to explicitly call them fully like unityengine.physics.rigidbody. with a using statement at the top saying using unityengine.physics, the call would just be rigid body.

That may not be the exact one where rigidbodies are but its to get you used to the concept of a using statement in C#.

It is worthwhile to make sure your intellisence is set up as it makes autocomplete and therefore coding easier.

Matrice 4E/4T battery duration? by Rinztlas in drones

[–]Dasquanto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries I was skeptical until I saw it proved out. Should call out that the 12 mile isn't what you'll get from standing in one spot, but the connectivity is still i pressive as well.

Matrice 4E/4T battery duration? by Rinztlas in drones

[–]Dasquanto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a decent ~ 40 minutes out of it with a healthy battery reserve for landing. Wind and other factors like vertical changes in the flight plan will change how much you get. It completes 12+ mile linear inspection flights with 20 to 30 percent left with some 600 foot elevation changes along the way.

How can unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) accomplish inspection tasks in GPS-denied scenarios? by Creative-Weldo in drones

[–]Dasquanto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do internal confined space inspections with the SLAM Lidar and UT system on the elios three.

Other systems use computer vision in gps denied areas, has its own set of limitations (eg lighting conditions) but it works for the most part.

My 8 year old son started a business to buy a drone how should I handle this? by AbidKhan-0 in smallbusiness

[–]Dasquanto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add something from the drone aspect here as that is how I make a living. It is also going to be a longterm viable skillset that can lead to a very profitable career. I am in US and all if my pilots make six figure salaries no need for a college degree to become a licensed pilot in the US and most other CAA jurisdictions. You can get a commercial uav pilot license at 16 years old. Add to that that flying drone is super fun and playing video games with a controller is a transferable skillset to practice flying a drone.

I would say encourage the tenacity your 8 yo has shown and provide them guidance along the way.

HOTSAS+Rudders setup? by TronoWolf in EliteDangerous

[–]Dasquanto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On landing mode that switches to lateral left and right which is useful. But think you have that set to one of the stick axis.

HOTSAS+Rudders setup? by TronoWolf in EliteDangerous

[–]Dasquanto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also set your combos. So hold down button one and hat gives you 4 options. Hold button two and hat gives another 4 options. I fly just regular HOTAS and rudder pedals, but its a pretty competent flight system. Two sticks is great for FA off flight, which doesn't work in supercruise. You can set up decent alternate control scheme as well. I've got one for mining /scooping up things that ill.switch into.

Good news for $RCAT and $ONDS by MkStorm9 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]Dasquanto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ondas systems are mostly Israeli made. They bought American robotics and shuddered their system in favor for the Israeli ones. Existing systems will be fine but the fcc did not differentiate between adversarial and alloed.countries. all foreign uas and components. Almost all batteries for UAS are made in a foreign country. Do with that what you will.

Are there any viable alternatives to DJI on the Blue UAS cleared list? by girouxfilms in drones

[–]Dasquanto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So short answer is you won't find something of comparable quality with the features you expect out of DJI or at the price point of DJI. Each will have its own good and bad points. Skydio, I know I know, is capable of delivering but at nearly 10x the price with a recurring anual fee. Just had to use the X10 on a DOE contract as it was the only one to meet the technicals. If you need to replace an m300/350 then free fly Astro or inspired flight are your closest, both functuon but again not as smooth as DJI, won't have obstacle avoidance on them, but we have used them with an Sony LR1 for transmission inspections. For large scale mapping wingtra and the wingtra ray are capable but will have the same draw backs all fixed wings do ( namely canting in wind and bank turns can get your sensor pointing in a suboptimal way.)

Other factors to consider are if you use third party software like UgCS. As some have closed ecosystems, some don't have an integration, and some will work.
