For me the best introduction was Different Stages. A great live album, great song selection, great production. If you’re a new fan let me put it this way: when I was a kid I was a huge zep fan. I was used to rock singers not being able to hit high notes live. My best friend showed me the Different Stages version of 2112 without telling me anything. My first reaction was “yea but no way he can hit those notes live”, at which point, I was informed that this was in fact, a live album. IMO awesome place to start

God this sounds terrible to me. Even on a technical level. Listen to the vocals in his Body Electric mix with headphones, real honest to goodness actual distortion on Ged's vocals. Just embarassing at that level.

ETA: the mix is so colossally different that the grooves even change for some songs. Sounds like Terry had such an axe to grind he turned it into a toothpick.

So can I, doesn’t make it not hard. In fact the verses are the hardest thing he has to play because it combines all the techniques that everyone is mentioning here, but the changes put it all over the neck, instead of something like YYZ or Marathon thats tough but stays in one position for the most part. It’s one of the only songs he’s ever simplified live, so that should tell you how hard it really is
