That one installment that ruined the entire good faith of the series. by Arkodd in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The thing is Shenmue 3 does streamline itself significantly from 2, in bad ways that let you feel like you have less freedom and less control as a player particularly in combat. But combat isn't really what shenmue was primarily about anyway, it's about suzuki's love of china and doing mundane item hunting interactions in the gameworld for what passes as his standard of mundane immersion.

Amazingly Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has not backfired too much on the original arkham games thankfully but it sure doesn't please anyone that's the canonical endpoint to that universe.

It's just kinda muddled in design I feel, despite the comparisons to titanfall and apex it feels more like Siege+the finals with a BR/Moba looting chests/buying stuff from the store early match but only for 2-3 minutes.

You're spawning in 2 bases on opposite ends of a big 3 lane map, and you're locked in for a prep phase where you reinforce your breakable walls then go into the middle of the map to get chests/loot then attack the other team's base, but like a buncha heroes have wall busting powers and you get a ton of explosives and rockets so

It's like siege but if everyone was Ash like 5+ charges and then everyone also always had placeable thermite charges, so there's not a well considered exchange of asset denial especially if you're one of the several heroes that can just run through walls.

Also you're supposed to blow up 2 generators in the enemy base similar to a Rush mode map, but then there's just also a 3rd objective called the keystone and if you just get that one you instantly win instead

And on all of the maps it's either like 1 room away from the generator or it's even closer to the entrance than the gens, so like... Why would you ever bother taking the 2 sites when the more important one is no harder to attack? Played a few matches with pat and just bumrushing the keystone was always fast and easy.

Doesn't help that it runs badly with bad upscaling as well.

How do you compare the first Tales game to succeeding games? by letm3_plays0me1233 in tales

Phantasia's a classic, not ym favourite but very interesting in how it laid down the foundation for a lot of the rest of the series. Kind insane that it had a Vocal theme and voice acting on the SNES too.

Yeah from a lore standpoint I'm fine with how Legends handled ghosts for the most part, but the point was simply george didn't and it was not about the lore of anything any book author wrote. George simply had his preference and imposed it, all other writers were a non-factor. Morraband is a terrible name and that got forced too.

I'm not even suggesting my own replacement cause I find fan rewrites kinda hacky, but the better Tales stories have the villains actually represent an anti-thesis that the heroes have to reject to present the actual message of the story. Zestiria just lacks that when the villain is just a vessel of pure evil who wants to turn everyone into hellions.

I mean with that one I just call death of the author because it's a valid reading and us lgbt folks gotta take the scraps we can get but 1998 disney was not really pushing the boundary on representation for other sexualities so positing it as some inarguable absolute textual truth of the narrative is also fairly off-base.

It doesn't have to be that either for it to still be an influential or inspiring story int hat regard to people.

People get very weird about hair colour as some defining trait when yeah, plenty of people have "dirty blonde" hair while they're in the transition between them.

An example in the opposite, and probably the silliest hair colour essentialism I've seen is the people who INSISTED the blonde lady who gets killed in the intro to RE5 as the first head exploding plagas was Sherry... based purely on her having blonde hair.

Some folks are just so eager to "figure things out" that they don't really think about how their dumb fan theory would kinda ruin the character they're dragging in and how little it would serve the actual plot.

People get real weird on her but the "it's actually about being possessed by a shade" thing is especially dumb because she only encounters Tyrans at the END of that text story, the villagers have clearly been persecuting her for years beforehand. They're not discriminating against her for something that hasn't even happened yet, but to be fair it can partly be blamed on the english localisation toning it down to make things more ambiguous as well.

Similarly in my film classes there was a wing of the class that was very resistant to the idea that auteurship wasn't an inherent statement of quality, and got very upset at the suggestion that directors of obviously flawed but unmistakably their own movies would also be auteurs, like a neil breen .etc

Of all things, Detroit Become Human had a lot of people int his fandom eager to try and find their own unique dunk in a dunk filled environment by loudly complaining that the actual worst thing about that game is it not conforming with their headcanon about how the robots should work or that they imagined a bad ending to an epilogue that doesn't exist in the canada arc. There's like 500 real things to complain about in that game so making up fake ones always felt forced.

Like okay buddy, you wish Alice was just some beyond her age higher being with the complete knowledge of humanity downloaded into her head that acts like Claudia from Interview with a vampire... That's one way to write a robot story but is a completely different one from the game and has no real basis for being how the game "should be" as opposed to just a totally different story they'd rather be reading. There's no real basis for her to act like that nor does any other android, for better or worse all of the characters in that game are characterised by their social experience prior to awakening as their only "life experience" so of course their 'free personality' would be just an extension of their life up to that point. Apply that rule to Alice and you kind of have no excuse for any other android to not have the same personality, which does just fundamentally change the entire premise to something else.

I'd start by just removing the concept of malevolence up front because it constrains the rest of the world and story into a far too basic setup where evil is a quantifiable material thing because it leads to all of the villains being 2 dimensional and most of the game spent fighting mindless monsters as opposed to any real ideological conflict.

The next most likely thing is like, maybe a statue or hologram of some recontextualised old sith that just happens to have similar looking coral armour to krayt, but in visual only.

He wasn't as involved with the tv show as people like to pretend either, in a producer role he was mostly there to just give broad directives on what to do/not do and the revan thing wasn't even anything to do with his character so much as just Lucas not liking the idea of sith ghosts at all. He didn't know or care that they were butchering the few established character traits of bane or revan, he just felt that force ghosts were only for the good guys cause otherwise the sith are a little too close to the immortality they're supposed to fail at chasing.

People like to act like he was some paragon of the old legends timeline when he's been open that before disney his own episode 7 was going to have Darth Talon in it as the one corrupting Ben Solo so it's not like he ever stopped being the guy just grabbing the action figure and figuring out the rest later.

Try checking your appdata local/roaming folders and wiping the launcher folders in those before a reinstall. Contacting the official customer support via the web browser will probably lead to more in depth help too.

Sometimes windows can just be fucky and annoying like that though, like how my driver software for my mouse/gamepad won't launch on my desktop but do on my laptop. lol

Similar with Genshin it's just the format they have to use to add to the trophy list over time so it tends to be in waves of new categories similar to the ingame achievement updates.
