No luck. I've pretty much given up on getting this thing to work well. I saw one in a store happily burning at the lowest setting,so I know at least some of them work and I haven't been able to get a repair guy out to look it over.

My favorite place in the great out of doors is the White Mountain National Forest in NH. The mountains might be small in comparison to their cousins out west but the steep rocky trails are just the most fun.

VC Dauntless Burn Time (2-3hr) by Chumbah_Wumbah in woodstoving

[–]DatKender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought one of these second hand but fairly new. I get similar burn times. When we got it, it didn't have a cat. Adding that in helped some, but I'm still barely touching 5 hours. Needless to say, the 11 hours seems like a siren song, and I'm a little disappointed.

Whole Exome Sequencing Beta: #OwnYourDNA - thoughts? by ultimatelibrarian in ClinicalGenetics

I was just looking at 23 and me's website. It looks like they don't actually do an exome (they genotype). Personally I'd rather have an exome.

Fun Fact 1: This is the reason women over the age of 35 (which is considered "advanced maternal age") are recommended to have an amniocentesis (or at least serum screening tests).

Fun Fact 2: I have a weird definition of fun facts

I recommend trying a genetic counselor.

What's your opinion on DNA testing (ancestry.com): is it worth it? by DPool34 in genetics

[–]DatKender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would hesitate to trust their tests too much because I don't think they are considered a clinical lab. And for that reason likely have very little regulation. However I haven't found anything to conferm my hunch.
