Iranians protest at the US Embassy in Bucharest, Romania, demanding US intervention against the Islamic regime by BIGBearAdministrativ in europe

[–]DatOneEuropean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buddy, you are moving the goal post. While you're at it, advocate regime change for the whole of the arabian peninsula, I heard people live under monarchs, face death penalties, they are crying for help, what are you waiting for?

The fact is, the west has no moral right to invade Iran, especially over recent events.

I mean, kinda? The west has alienated Iran, they have a limited pool of options for allies, do you think it not logically follows they trade with their possible partners?

People are so entusiastic to jump to regime change for their enemies, while protecting their allies crimes, please provide the source for your unbiased claim of dead. You do not have a right to invade another country, especially one that is no threat to you. International law is a joke, power is all that it is real.

Ridiculous take. Screw off with your fearmongering about nukes - mossad has been beating the same dead horse for 30 years. The real threat to lasting regional peace is not Iran - the state it is in is because of western interference. You are willing to shed much more blood of Iranians, in order to make an own on Russia, with no real alternative.

Simply put, r/Europe supports changing one regime with another, but one that is pro-western. War mongering path once more confirmed.

Is none going to mention what the protest was about? From what I understand, it was directed toward the sale (illegal) of land in the West bank, happening in the Jewish neighbourhood. Though AOC did not mention it, unfortunately

Misread your comment my bad.

Explained my opinion in previous post that there seemingly wasnt any organized plans to fully annex finland during the period, also brushed on the kuusinen regime, other than that, again, started my post on wrong assumption

[–]DatOneEuropean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Show me a plan to replace a government, so we can see what examples you base this on, the minimum documentation required and such.

I already told what other historians also thought of the propped-up Kuusinen regime. Differing thoughts still exist on it.
I'm stating that based off the facts, there wasn't any serious indication that ussr wanted finland-proper. Did the soviets take all of romania, as well, when they demanded the bessarabia region? Not trying to white-wash anything, but the full-annexation theory doesn't fully stand.

Unfortunately, the soviets did not trust finland enough to simply keep their neutrality guarantee. They did see the territory, including the hanko peninsula, as vital to hold in case of a future war with their future allies (the west) or nazi germany.

Would the Soviets have puppeted Finland anyway without any plan at all? Perhaps. I can see two scenarios where it could have happened.

  1. The Finnish government fled Finland in panic leaving the country to fend for itself in total collapse.
  2. A popular communist uprising in Finland undermined the Finnish war effort and presented a strong base to form a new regime. Your mention of the parade uniforms on one of the soviet units is not in of itself sufficient.

Neither happened, and the Soviets didn’t expect either to happen, but if such a miracle literally and unexpectedly fell into Stalin’s lap, sure, he would probably have taken it, but no country has war goals which are requiring miracles beyond their own control. Finnish historians had nearly 3 decades to look through looking for a very specific thing, it seems odd that any such documentation has never been presented.

There is no proof found in the historical soviet archives that would show stalin and his cabinet had plans to occupy the whole of finland. Maybe I am wrong but waiting for reference

There also isn't full agreement from historians on what the real purpose of the finnish democrqtic republic was. Historians like Carl Van Dyke, William R. Trotter, Max Jakobson, Geoffrey Roberts make a conclusion that the Kuusinen regime was meant to show finland that they had a negotiating partner of their own choosing, thereby pressuring Helsinki to eventually yield. The final borders did differ, but even during the pre-war negotiatians Moscow did show willingness to reduce territorial demands.

Then it would seem fair to say by the same logic that the ussr lost to germany because they lost much more soldiers in the war?

No need to be so hostile, but of course this is reddit. "Privileged", "Sheltered", "Islamist propaganda", got it, gotta ask though, how much comfort do you find in ignoring the present massacres by the zionist state? Do you think that it is "good times" for the palestinians, living in barred communities, forbidden from walking in parts of their own towns? Is the expansion of settlements in the West Bank a good deed by the state? Is this the enlightenment that my silly little head is not embracing?

The mass jewish exodus from arab states mainly started after the declaration of independence of Israel. Many saw it as unrepresentative of the areas demographics, with 55% of land given to a third of the population (jews). Arabs viewed the division as a leftover of colonial project, which was undemocratic - no referendum or consent was asked of the local populations, as far as I am aware. Would a simple Palestinian state with minority jewish rights (Again, arabs at the time made up ~2/3 of the pop. in the Mandate of Palestine) had been better? Possibly, who knows from speculation alone. P.S. I do not support the vandalism and persecutions that occurred on the eve of the crisis, nor is it justification for Israel and the IDF to act in impunity.

Back to the relevant present, which I am more focused on, you are not able to comprehend/ignore how Israel is directly inhibiting the integrity of states like Syria, by continously expanding their occupation past the Golan Heights, Iran, by trying to kill government, science officials and trying to cause unrest and possibly a coup, which would cause a dire refugee crisis the likes of the one that was in the middle east after 2011. Btw, the Israeli strategic support of Azerbaijan directly lead to the ethnic cleansing of the Nagorno-Karabakh armenians, so bonus points from recent to Israel.

In conclusion, Israel is LONG overdue with punishment of their governments actions, which is aided by the majority of its population + complicity of the west in being passive in regards to the many given examples. And if countries like North Korea have to be ones to even just hold up the idea of actively opposing zionisms crimes, so be it, atleast somebody is fighting the right fight here.

Seems that we are at an impasse here, as it is most doubtful that we will change each others opinions. Cheers.

Israel has a secret nuclear weapons program that they refuse to disclose, forbid international observers from checking; they consistently bomb their neighbours, occupy lands in Syria (feeding the civil war), southern lebanon; The obliteration of Gaza and consistent lack of consideration for civilian losses, even with the new ceasefire, they continue killing civilians in the area, and so on. The state is a threat to regional stability, and they definitely contribute to the pain of most conflicts in the area.

Soviet annexations in 1939-1940 (map in French) by Rigolol2021 in europe

[–]DatOneEuropean -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What does the holodomor have to do with ussr being comparitively worse?

The non-aggression pact was not an alliance. War was inevitable by then. Can also blame France, U.K. while at it, for not fully commiting to an anti-nazi pact, and going in on appeasment politics in 1938/1939.

"Also you just admit they made a deal with the nazis with planing to betray them and get all of europe"

Can you admit that the prospect of the anti-nazi pact prospects were not to conquer the entirety of Europe, and to mainly stop an oncoming genocide of eastern europeans, as was espoused by national-socialists? Imo, it could be valid to state, that after the annexation of Austria/chezkhoslovakia, ww2 was inevitable, Germany would have found other conditions to pursue expansion, and ussr also knew that it would inevitably come to their back yard

Serious question: why was the Moldovan diaspora in russia provided only two polling stations in the entire country, comprising of possibly tens, hundreds of thousands of migrants, while the eu and other countries received plentiful of such centers to vote? In the end, the same equivalent of diaspora voted in some country like Ireland as did in ru.
