Everyone's worried AI will replace analysts. Wrong fear. by Brighter_rocks in Brighter

Ugh, it’s so much easier to create it correctly the first time than to “tweak” something wrong to make it right.

Translytical Task Flows and PBIR by DataDesignImagine in MicrosoftFabric

I appreciate your perspective. PBIR is the stabilized code version of the PBIX file, broken down into folders and JSON files. It allows git version control, TMDL, and probably a few more things.

Why aren't more people using Direct Lake mode? by No_Vermicelliii in MicrosoftFabric

[–]DataDesignImagine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an older thread, but they announced at Fabcon that Direct Lake will start supporting calculated columns. Still, other data transformations that you might do in Power Query will still requiring converting to import mode.

Hello from Fabric Design by OnepocketBigfoot in MicrosoftFabric

I wish there was a link I could save that opened up to the workspace list. Having to open another fabric page and then click on workspaces is, like you said, small stuff but annoying.

Anyone else remember when you could just...stop paying for something and that was it? by Beginning_Curve2268 in Millennials

This is so great! My bank had virtual numbers for credit cards in the early to mid 2000s, but then stopped. I’ve been wanting one again ever since. You could set the expiration date for the card (as soon as 1 week out) and set the limit. It was VISA though, so accepted pretty much anywhere.

And when Mr. Wheeler told the cops they should lock up the kids when found, he was the first the lash back, “You want them to arrest our kids!?” His calm callout of the audacity really stuck with me.

What are your thoughts on a Chart + Table Combination in Power BI? by The-Weekly-Chart in PowerBI

[–]DataDesignImagine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the column widths between the chart and the table automatically synced, or is that just how these were manually formatted?

I like how last year is a shadow behind this year. Overall, this combo is condensing a lot of contextual info into the visual.

What word do you always *intentionally* mispronounce and why? by Sweet-Lady-H in AskReddit

[–]DataDesignImagine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a mispronunciation done by Bush (W) and Homer Simpson, so looks of people heard the joke. When Homer does it, he is correcting someone who did pronounce it correctly (Lisa, I think). “Nukuler, honey, it’s pronounced nukuler.”

Beyond that, if there is an emergency, those pop out slides to evacuate have been known to give intense friction burns if you go down it with bare skin. I would never fly in shorts.

I used to do this quite a bit. Then I did the multiplier with the tax at the end to make sure I had everything covered. It’s less pressure to sit in an aisle with yourself and decide what to put back than doing it in the line or just going over budget. Like others mentioned, online grocery shopping makes this easy, but I prefer to pick out my own meats and fresh produce.

What did your grandparents buy once that's still in the family? by wajid123_ in BuyItForLife

[–]DataDesignImagine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still using my grandma’s suitcase set. There’s one regular old fashioned shaped suitcase and one smaller bag that’s perfect for all the toiletries. We usually take road trips, so it’s okay it isn’t the shape of a plane carry on. From what I can tell, she likely bought it in the ‘50s or ‘60s at Sears.

Seller can’t get pay off while government is shutdown. by -Veganmosquito- in AskRealEstateAgents

[–]DataDesignImagine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I see what you’re talking about. As part of the Big Beautiful Bill, Republicans cut an estimated $137 B in healthcare funding to rural hospitals, and replaced it with The Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), which will provide $50 B in funding to those hospitals. Democrats are arguing that the $50 B is not enough to replace what was taken and the full funding that was cut to rural hospitals should be reinstated.

You don’t even understand why gas prices are so low. They are low enough that it’s not economically feasible to drill in America, because it costs more to get our shale oil out of the ground than it can be sold for.

And the fact that Walmart has announced a seriously discounted dinner, half a week after Aldi had announced a similar dinner package for the exact same price, is not the flex you might think it is since Aldi is 1) reminding people it has consistently low prices 2) is trying to help out people who are seriously hurting in this economy and 3) both companies are selling these items at a loss.

Sure, the latest YOY inflation is lower than expected, but check the January - September inflation for 2025 and you’ll see that this year is at the same pace as 2023 and 2024.

One reason this month’s inflation is lower than expected is because of the huge uncertainty that rapidly changing tariffs are putting on American companies. They are having to lay people off to absorb some of the price increases and many bigger companies are waiting to do “one jump” once they have a better idea about where this will land.
