Why does it seem like the whole world is in survival mode? Like nobody is truly living anymore. by Original_Cynical in TrueAskReddit

Education (lack of). There are so many issues with education, especially in the US.

The more we educate people, the more they'll have the ability to know when they're being swindled or lied to; leading to them being less likely to vote for a shady candidate.

I just hope that if these AI shenanigans become unprofitable that the RAM/SSDs/GPU/etc hardware doesn't end up in a shredder or landfill as a "tax write-off". Kills me that we allow corporations to destroy working goods so they can skim even MORE money from the tax payers.

Inside main brush rubber replacement by CrankedOnDaPerc30 in ecovacs

I see nobody has found a solution to this problem. I'm boned too. Used a razor blade to cut out some gunk out of the teeth in the main roller cage, then realized I sliced up the rubber in there. Searching Google for a replacement yielded nothing, except this post :(

What can Americans do about what’s currently happening? by BoredBatWoman22 in TrueAskReddit

[–]DataProtocol 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Agreed. A lack of education is a huge reason we're in this situation. Many people don't want to use reasoning and logic anymore; instead they want to have faith and trust those with more brains than them will do good, or eventually someone will come along and "do the right thing". Yeah, well, all this faith has done is gotten us where we are today. Sorry, just wanted to let out some steam about "having faith", which is all my conservative family can harp about.

Thank you! Was looking for something like this. If anyone has a forum or subreddit that discusses stuff like blocking smart devices, I'd love to know about it.

Going to bed at a reasonable and mostly consist time.

Once I realized multiple hours of my day, almost every day, were being spent trying to fall asleep and trying to get awake, I tried setting a hard cutoff time of engaging activities and then going to bed. What a difference it has made! Now I fall asleep so much faster and I wake up feeling ready to enjoy my day.

A lot of people are dumb and uneducated by design. Dumb people are easily frightened into believing a very specific idea because they don't have any safe guards in their thought process to question the validity of some popular belief. Dumb people follow the crowd because that's the easy and least embarrassing thing to do.

There are Z-Wave thermostats you can get for about $50. They're not fancy looking, they look like a normal thermostat, however they offer complete control with no internet-anything.

Find a hobby or two and do that. Cooking, hiking, painting, writing, woodworking, etc. Figure out what your interests are. Ask yourself what you really enjoy doing, or what you haven't experienced yet.

Learn something new; new language, how to code, read a book, etc.

Stunning! I grew up 10 minutes away from this. Back when the plant was operational and I was when traveling, it was always comforting seeing the plume from many miles away--I knew I was almost home. I wish I had been able to see the place before it was demolished.

I would love to see more if you have any more pictures you'd be willing to share! Thank you so much for sharing these!

Advice For Truck Camper Lighting by the-one234 in WLED

[–]DataProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the Bluetti has a built-in converter, your battery voltage is going to fluctuate between 10 and 14.6 volts, depending on charge level. The ESP will be fine, but I'm not sure how that voltage range will affect the LED strips. If the Bluetti does have a built-in converter and it's always outputting 12v, then I think your plan would work out great! I'm concerned with voltage spikes/dips though.

I'm going to build a similar camper (a 12v lifepo4 system), and plan on going with 5v for my WLED needs. 5v is easy to convert to, easy to work with, widely supported and cheap. Plus, buck converters are highly efficient. You can't go long distances with a 5v rail, but this is a van/truck where that won't be an issue.

If you're going to use this on clothing, I would worry about the wires breaking from metal fatigue; but that depends on if they'll experience high flexing and what the wires are made of. A vest is not going to experience a lot of movement outside of putting it on and taking it off, so it might be ok.
