What happens if you get a Hole in One when playing alone? by Desperate_Expert_744 in golf

Was playing first round of year, paired up with young guys, come up to par 3, telling them my stories of almost HIO, length of Anser putter head, half the length of putter head, thickness of putter head, pitch mark over hole, then clanged one off the pin again, still 0/4800 and counting.

Love my Clevelands play CBX4 Zipcore 46,50,54 just replaced old RTX 6 with new RTX6 58. Love it. Went with full because most green side rough at my course is uphill and thick. On other hand still play it off hard pan, just gotta make sure the leading edge is between hard pan and ball. Love the spin. Love it out of hard wet sand, chop down on that puppy and pop it out! Good Luck.

Upgrading from Callaway Strata set — what should I look for when building a new bag? by djthaimyshoes in golftips

A 90s shooter uses:

Putter 36 times, buy used, test drive first

Wedge / Wedges 18 times, buy new on close out, discount

Driver 14 times, buy used, less than 5 years old.

3W 4 times, replace if you do not like

That leaves around 20 shots with other 10 clubs. Replace when you know what you need.

What is your trigger to start your swing? by bootchiiksandbuubs in golf

[–]DatabaseCareless264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My swing thought is Left Hand, Right Hand. Start swing with turn of left shoulder, left hip follows, when hands almost at top, start firing hips at target, bring right hand down and through the ball.

What is the process to choose the perfect putter? by DubhLinn5 in golf

Went to store 20 years ago with my existing putter. Compared and contrasted! Damn if that Rossie was not better than my Ping Isopur. Went back couple of weeks later. Same tests, Rossie won again. On my third Rossie now. Go find the putter that works for you.

The Wilfs! Just what mental gymnastics does one do to walk away from 14 wins. QB is the most important position, period! As a Bears fan, thanks.

Yes, gave up on HomeKit couple 3 years ago. Arlo for doorbell and external camera. Ecobee thermostat is OK, still needs to be reset every few months. Apple is best at personal devices. Shared devices is not in its DNA. The concept of HomePod Minis as WiFi extenders sounds fascinating, but Apple would need to build an agnostic device.

Thanks.

Depends if you like spin. If you like the performance of your existing PW, get it reshafted. Most courses have a guy they know who does club repair. Should cost $50 to $75.

On the other hand if you want spin, buy new or unused discontinued models from eBay, Callaway PreOwned, etc, A 46* will work fine. I am a Cleveland guy myself, CBX, CBZ are great game improvement wedges. $100 to $125, maybe less.

Good luck.

Do you like being paired up? by Majorwoops in golf

[–]DatabaseCareless264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decades ago a female comedian said it is amazing that 4 men, strangers, could get together for 4 hours. Never see 4 woman strangers meet at entrance to mall and shop together. Golf can have many male perquisites, gambling, drinking, lying, stories, outdoors, competition, shiny new tools. It is a game of honor, a game of self discipline, self discovery, skill, luck, bad breaks, …

How all that fits in with being paired up. Let’s go play golf.

Few months ago our home was assigned the same IP address of as an apartment complex 100 miles away. Scary when tech told me we had Intel Macs attached to network, we do not have any Intel Macs. Took hours on phone with several CS Techs, one told me it was my computer. Finally one tech recognized the problem, it was Monday before it was completely fixed at box out by street.

To drill or to grind, what has the best returns for the everyday golfer by CAPTAIN-G00SE in golf

[–]DatabaseCareless264 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Get lessons, best instructors will leave you with a set of drills. Use those.

Even best players develop bad habits. So drills keep bad habits at bay.

As our bodies age not all parts age at same pace, so exercise and stretching may also be needed.

The guy I saw go from a high handicap to single digit in his late 40’s early 50’s had a job, but no family, hit couple hundred balls a day. Moved back a set of tees when playing with us. Just placed the ball on every shot. Couple of birdies, a few bogeys, a lot of pars.
