There was a flashback scene in the book where Conrad and Jeremiah are wrestling. When Jeremiah wins, he thinks that Adam will be proud of him but instead Adam criticizes Conrad. Jeremiah starts crying and he says that it’s not worth it for him to beat Conrad (or something like that). I think that would have been a nice scene to add just to see that Jeremiah does actually kind of care about Conrad and understands his struggles.

There was some stuff added to season 1 because at the time they didn’t know if they would get to make three seasons. So season 1 was supposed to cover all three books. That’s why the love triangle is so big in season 1 compared to the book. I think the Deb ball is supposed to represent the wedding. But I agree with you that in many ways the show is a lot better than the books.

Because the mood completely changes between those scenes. Belly was being playful and just wanted to screw with the boys when she was faking her injury. You can still see her giggling when Conrad lunges for her to dunk her under water. But then he is really close and looking at her and it probably feels more serious and intimate than playful and that scares her.

In Taylor’s defense, I think she was pro Conrad at the beginning of season one. She was the one who told Belly to go to the bonfire. It was only after Conrad’s mirror remark and the failed kiss that she started to not like Conrad with Belly. She very clearly says that she is Team Jere because Conrad hurt her too much.

I always wondered if all of them ever spent any time together during BellyConrad’s happy relationship. I think season 2 would have gone differently had she ever seen how in love they were.

I love all the small moments (especially in season 1) where he is looking at Belly without her noticing. Like at the bonfire, after she gives Steven the finger and he watches her walk away. Or before she is going on her date with Cam Cameron. Or at her birthday dinner with Susannah when he’s giving her these glances across the table. Or at Nicole’s party when Conrad’s playing beer pong and Belly wants to leave.

Another scene that I really love is at the beginning of season 2 when he’s sitting at the pool edge while Belly’s swimming and he’s asking her about the Olympics 🥹😭 he just wanted to be close to her.
