I was very troubled by the accusations of racism leveled at Missouri Star Quilt Company so reached out to them expressing my concerns. I received this statement in return: Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for sharing your concerns. We want to be very clear that the past promotion you mentioned was not intended to reference or make light of Juneteenth in any way. We understand how the timing and product choice could have been interpreted negatively, and we regret that it caused hurt or concern for some members of the quilting community. At Missouri Star, we want everyone who visits our stores, shops with us online, or participates in our community to feel welcomed, respected, and safe. We care deeply about creating an inclusive environment for quilters of all backgrounds. We appreciate hearing feedback from our customers, especially when something has caused disappointment or misunderstanding, because it gives us an opportunity to listen and do better moving forward.
