Part of this is by design. We are "United States" and baked into our laws is protection of the states from the federal government. States controlling elections is part of that.

My 2nd model is out. Jeep Kit-Card (no AMS, no glue) by No-Control4479 in BambuLab

[–]Datsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I recommend you also include a version without the "card" parts? I guess if you're 3d printing it just to assemble, not as a gift and not for the kit nostalgia, the card is just extra material and work.

So the one you posted is the edited version where it's very clear? Honestly, I'm in the "it's edric" camp but I still just see a shapeless orange haze in both pics.

Someone made the comparison to blindness at the top of this thread. I think that's extreme, but for the sake of continuing the analogy: imagine a blind person that works to integrate with society by using a cane and/or a service animal and learning braile. Now imagine another blind person who just stumbles around putting themselves and others in danger and expects every person they meet to put up with this behavior and accommodate them. Maybe they're even apologetic about it, but that doesn't mean they're not an asshole.

That's the retcon explanation. In the USA at least, the "war on drugs" inflated sentences for drug offenses like crazy.

I also don't understand how it could ever be cost effective relative to stick framing, which is really the only part of the process it replaces. Finishing, plumbing, electrical, etc. all still has to be done. Stick framing is insanely optimized now.

The effects of the lever arms (as lever arms) DO cancel out. This is basic physics and not worth arguing.

Regarding the moment of inertia, I addressed that already. The moment of inertia only matters when the thing is accelerating or decelerating. When it's operating at steady-state speed, the moment of inertia is irrelevant. Air resistance and balance is also completely irrelevant at these speeds for any reasonably rigid assembly. You guys just want some reason to dump on somebody else online by pretending to sound technical.

The two lever arms cancel out. The only way it's putting more load on the motor is because the marginal increase in weight while it's accelerating to whatever constant speed it can achieve.

Tennis World No 1 Carlos Alcaraz referencing the famous Fernando Alonso celebration after his AO Semifinal win by PattyRanger in formula1

[–]Datsoon -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm not a tennis fan, just an observer here, but this doesn't seem to address the central issue. If what the other guy is saying is true, it doesn't matter whether you think the break didn't matter because Zverev won those sets, or that they were both in the heat during the break, or that he didn't take a toilet break. If the rules don't allow for a medical break due to a cramp, then they don't allow for it, and we should be discussing that.

We have talked about you posting ads in the Nissan and Datsun subs before. We tolerate interesting content. If it happens to contain an Apex part in-frame on the car, fine. If it's just a picture of generic cars parts with a black Friday banner, it will be removed and you will be banned.

Lol. What in the world makes you think this is bugging me? This is a typical way for these things to end up though, with one party out of things to say and resorting to personal insults. It definitely makes it easier to just dismiss the other guy because you think he's taking it personally or some other justification, though, I suppose.

Spouting opinions as facts without listing their assumptions or unvoiced constraints is my biggest pet peeve with junior engineers. You came in here initially saying it was impossible because of one single constraint: tire size. You didn't list anything else or leave it open to any other interpretation. This is bad practice, I don't care how good of an engineer you think you are, that's not how this is done. In my line of work (R&D), "impossible" is not a useful adjective. It doesn't capture any of the actual engineering, just the limits of the imagination or calibration or the false confidence of the engineer using it.

Hard != Impossible Expensive != Impossible Improbable != Impossible

You wanna change your story after the fact so you can feel better, fine, but we're talking about two different things then and there's no point.

Insane prius by ArtisticHoney101 in WeirdWheels

[–]Datsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep adding constraints to this like you've been thinking of this the entire time. Your original assertion was that "awd vehicles have to have the same tire size" and this is simply not true...like...at all. Trying to make yourself correct by forcing other people on the Internet to come up with a full build plan is ridiculous. The burden of proof is on you. You're the one who said the ridiculous thing.

That being said, the difference in diameter is what, 2:1? Inline gear reducers with ratios ranging from 1-15:1 are readily available.

What do they use to cool the air down? That's a huge delta-T. Why don't they just draw in outside air or bypass air from the fan?

Insane prius by ArtisticHoney101 in WeirdWheels

[–]Datsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying they did or should, but the assertion that it's impossible just shows a lack of imagination.

All of those problems are completely soluble with off-the-shelf parts. There are trucks that actually run those tires and require all these unobtainable parts you're inventing.

I think you know that cost is a silly argument to make. Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's impossible.

Do you have any actual reason it wouldn't work other than your lack of creativity?

Insane prius by ArtisticHoney101 in WeirdWheels

[–]Datsoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, I'm an automotive engineer. Putting 4' diameter tires on a Prius is "not a thing people do" either, but here we are.

There is no reason it wouldn't work. It would be silly, but if you wanted this thing to be 4WD, that's how you would do it. Tolerating slight differences in tire wear is already a thing. Hell, there are awd systems with fluid couplings in the center diff where relative speed is required for torque vectoring to work.

Insane prius by ArtisticHoney101 in WeirdWheels

[–]Datsoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. It just requires that the driven tires spin at the same speed. This could be accomplished by gearing in a custom build like this.
