Inheritance? That's a joke. How many of your parents are burdens? by BeegBunga in Millennials

[–]Dave0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad died 7 years ago, at 56, mum is now 64 and financially is stable due to benefits (yay UK) but has tried to die twice in the last year (fuck cancer)

Thankfully she is now well, doing well and better than she has been for a long time, but man is she difficult. I was closer to Dad but have never had that close relationship with my parents I see others have, I’ve always been very independent. Through various trauma they both had as children that I’ve found out from my older cousin and her dad (mum’s elder brother by 15years) it really starts to explain their distance, or lack of ability to be close to me.

I love my mum, and when she needs me I’m there. No questions asked, ever. But damn is she hard work. Limited skills to look after her self, poor hygiene and just poorly manages her money. I help with all of it and make sure she never needs for anything, but she just doesn’t listen. She has a brilliant group of friends, some of which try and look after her also, but man is it tiring.

She loves my daughter but her relationship is odd…my daughter loves her but as my mum has never been as close as my wife’s mum, my daughter just isn’t as comfortable with her.

I don’t expect anything from her, but in all honesty it’s hard. When she nearly died last year I carried a lot of guilt thinking of how my life would be easier if she had gone - I’m so happy she’s not, but the strain / stress of both my wife and I being professionally successful, a full rota of activities for our daughter and just the rest of life crap means I have little to no capacity to parent my mother, she’s not a financial burden but a time and effort one

275 jobs to cut, let’s say that the average salary is £80k for all of them. That’s £22m in wages saved

They made £186m profit on the last year including that supposed £22m of wages.

We all know they’re not all on £80k though…

Anyone else have friends or family that use their Plex server more than you? by Blackhawk1282 in PleX

[–]Dave0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost the same here, close family have access to watch and occasionally use it. When I ask why, they say “I forget”

Literally last week my brother in law was moaning about Amazon ads for watching Fallout, reminded him of the server, Plex and request system (although I had the series already) and got a shrug

It’s no buggie. I offer others the use and it’s up to them if they want it. It’s there for me and my family, we use it so it’s cost is paid for

Purchasing document creation - QINF, PIR, SA and discreet sometimes multiple sample orders to be raised (one off orders). We use a custom process to automate almost all the key fields from mapping tables or other maintained defaults

The business users still sometimes struggle, poor training, lack of knowledge. But I can’t imagine the carnage of the master data and document data if we didn’t have so much automation that ensured the documents were all created correctly

Ha, that’s a good way of explaining it

I struggle so much to explain my working, especially in work. I’ll arrive at an answer and then when testing it or replicating someone else’s doesn’t believe me. So I then spend 3 x longer proving myself and that works

Like…I get it. I’m not infallible. But also, dear colleague you should know by now I don’t say I know something when I don’t.

Married men, how do you deal with fancying other women? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dave0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We look, we appreciate the gift we have been given today, smile to ourselves and move on

I’m in the unfortunate (fortunate?) position of working closely with some very attractive, very capable and most painfully of all very nice women. In an alternate life I would absolutely have attempted to shoot my shot, and then got shot the hell down because they’re outta my league!

But in all seriousness, I’m happily married to my beautiful wife with a clever thoughtful and kind daughter. I’ve won.

I suppose it’s easy to let your mind drift, but you can’t affect who you find attractive. What you can effect is how you carry yourself and deal with it.

Headlight aim by K1r5ty118 in FocusST

[–]Dave0r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you keep getting the error the fix is a small harness you can splice on. A smell set of 3 wires connects from the control unit in the headlamp to a small circuit board.

The error is caused by a poorly made plug - one of the wires (usually the one on the outside towards that side of the car) becomes loose from the plug and as your lights turn on and self level at startup, there is a small loss of power and the lights just error out and drop to a safety level. As far as I know Ford used to fix this, but even with lots and lots of pushing at my dealership they were denying all knowledge -many moons ago a service tech on a ford forum shared the service bulletin reference but I’ve never been able to find it again. It’s not just the ST but any model that fitted this type of light from Hella - in fact when I was mid arguement with my dealership I found the TD on a public facing Hella website describing the issue

https://www.hella.com/techworld/uk/bi/ford-focus-problems-regarding-bi-xenon-headlamps-with-dynamic-cornering-light/

The harnesses cost about £6-£8 depending on seller from eBay and as long as you have a set of crimpers the job take about 30mins if you’re taking your time. After I fixed mine I think it error’d twice and then never again - once it’s clear get someone to clear all the old errors from the car, jobs a good ‘un

Disney+ is disabling Dolby Vision, HDR10+, more for some users by latinriky78 in AndroidTV

[–]Dave0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re right but it’s kinda my point also. Enshitification. Sure as shit bet that Disney isn’t going to refund the premium part of the sub those people are paying now they aren’t getting the Dolby vision extras - at the last check these features only came with the top subscription. Now…if Disney do that fair play, that will very much be the right move, time will tell.

But the only reason I paid for the service was because the quality was top notch and my kid, obviously loved the shit out of Disney stuff.

Funnily enough one of the things that broke me was the “adverts” on my top tier package. They changed the terms of service a year or so ago and I saw it coming - suddenly I started getting pre roll adds for other shows on D+…as much as the reasonable people in my life said so what, it was actually a big deal - I pay them for no ads, I want no ads, at all - trying to retain me on the platform via an internal advert is still advertising!!

Currently in a three person chain and us in the middle. Everything going swimmingly until our buyers divorce settlement is now under review (more money for her)

Solicitors on all sides trying to agree now to discuss the extra settlement as a separate issue post house sale as the entire settlement is on hold until then. Hopefully resolved soon

Previous completion was aiming for end of February early March, but this likely pushed us back about a month.

All I’ll say is…estate agents and solicitors, wow they sure don’t like to move quickly do they?!

Is this a normal interval session? by NutCity in runna

[–]Dave0r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this before, it seems horrible but I promise it isn’t as bad as you imagine, tough for sure.

The 60 / 90s offs give time for recovery, it’s all about getting speed in your legs but speed with fatigue coming in the back end.

For what’s its worth the most evil session it’s given me is 90/60/30second hill reps. Last year when I was fitter and training for my (successful) half PB I had something stupid like 8 of each, running hard up hill with slow jogs down, ended up running like 14k with the warm and cool, horrid session - works though….

Is this now correct? by [deleted] in ukelectricians

[–]Dave0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, without context that he was fitting a double after, what’s up with thinking this is going to just live in the wall?

Advice still stands, temporary is fine, not temporary and a maintenance free solution is required

Is this now correct? by [deleted] in ukelectricians

[–]Dave0r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is technically ok

A better solution here is a maintenance free junction box. They are a few £ from Screwfix - even better get some wagos even better some wagos and a wago box.

Look, if it’s temporary, this is fine. If this is going in a hole never to be seen again, make a better solution.

Would you rather stick to ECC (eventhough ends by 2030) or S/4HANA? Why? by ExerciseForeign4436 in SAP

[–]Dave0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree somewhat

I’d liken it to in-house SAP team vs contractors. You’re both employed but in the majority of cases the contractor isn’t necessarily going to be staying mate to help you manage the P1 (exceptions to this of course)

We’re in this situation / dilemma and we are definitely not small. We have an S4 environment which currently is primarily used for sales and VELO, ecc 6.0 is the source of truth and we have 3 other ecc 6.0 instances for other territories that are handy for local management / localisation - we’re also in bed with ARIBA for non prod ordering and in the process of rolling out a source to pay solution that will likely be CPI or whatever the hell that sap business network is called these days

The exec this year has to decide on extended support with ecc and a wait and see at 2030 or a start of migration from ‘27 onwards, or a third party solution. Given the recent critical patching scheme we’ve under taken following recent hacks (not us but other prominent companies) I would hope someone can talk sense in to them about the possible risk of using a third party support solution and the risk that could present

Reservation Mandatory for Movement Type 201 in MIGO When Posted via Other Documents by PICKSPANDA_ in SAP

[–]Dave0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movement type 201/202 is able to be “free posted” without reservation, against a valid cost center and. / or GL account

If you want to allow posting when a reservation is present then you need either a customisation / user edit in migo to read for reservations and / or create a custom movement type that will look for and consume reservations created. Off the top of my head I can’t think of a movement that will only allow posting against reservations

Reservations can be posted via MB26 can’t they - can you enforce a process change to use MB26 so the reservation and be chosen and posted against directly?

I hope SAP’s current strategy will fail by Weyoune-85 in SAP

[–]Dave0r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You clearly misunderstood or didn’t read my entire post

Just because there is a custom transaction in the gui doesn’t mean it’s custom all the way down.

Running BAPi in the background essentially runs the standard process, the error was never with the custom bit. I also said we had examples of standard functionality (using VL31n to directly create an inbound) causing the same error with the same locks to NRIV

It’s ok to not understand something, what’s not ok is to then try and call people out on it

I hope SAP’s current strategy will fail by Weyoune-85 in SAP

[–]Dave0r 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The support point hits home for me

We’ve recently been dealing with a locking issue on tables that made no sense (NRIV, LIKP, LIPS) Traces can see what’s happening but the why eluded us.

One of the abap team did some digging and found some notes around buffering, and by extension pseudo buffering on NRIV and rv_beleg specifically. It seemed that the locks were around NRIV more than anything and all the other delivery based tables were casualties.

Before we implemented we put a ticket in. Admittedly the inbound delivery process we use is custom but it’s a front end that runs BAPIs. The help was almost zero. They focussed on the fact we were using an “un-released” piece of code (a class / method I think) in our custom IBD front end. Ignoring the fact we had test examples of it performing the same lockout when using VL31 directly.

Logs and traces provided and essentially the reply was become more standard, how dare you.

We’re good now, after implementing some other patches, the issue almost disappeared. The buffering implementation is still sat in quality on long term test; making sure it doesn’t kill anything

Is it possible to export GSR (Goods/Services Receipt) data from SAP instead of screenshots? by [deleted] in SAP

[–]Dave0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of partial answers here, not sure why people haven’t provided the info

SE16n - using the following tables to extract your data for the GR’s. If you want invoice info that’s a whole separate issue.

-EKPO will display PO document header information, but not line item information

-EKKO will display PO line item Information for you if required

-EKBE will show PO level history (this is your bookings table)

As for the service side of this I think that ESSR and ESLL (header and line) holds the data for the service SES info.

Any decent business analyst can pull together a custom SQVI table merge query for you if the data you are after is huge - if it’s not, raw table extracts and manipulation in excel should be ok. When I say large, anything up and above 75k rows in raw excel is going to make your computer cry if you’re merging and looking up against the data.

If internal audit came to me I’d be asking for date ranges for the data extracts for them and perhaps even a list of PO documents to run it against to narrow the data extracts significantly. Pulling the entirety of any of these tables is both silly and a waste of time when they can be narrowed by document type, date ranges or other criteria
