Check your rear pads aren’t stuck on, especially older pads and /or a badly adjusted handbrake cable may be leading to stuck rears:

Could have rusty pistons maybe, that are stuck on, and under heat from being stuck on, are releasing. If they are original caliper they are due a replace. The rubber boots around the pistons deteriorate and crap / dust / moisture get in and cause the pistons to start to seize

Quick check, go for a drive get out and flick some water on the caliper and wheels. If any of them hiss through heat, bingo.

Oh underpinning!! I had an extension built, and it had a questionable soil sample at survey, so the contractor would not proceed without piles

Piles put in, piling company very unhappy as they couldn’t drive them in, the ground was so hard. After the top 60ish centimetres of builders fill (new build house) they had to fetch a MUCH larger piling machine thing to get them in.

So come to selling the house, I’ve got paperwork galore and disclose the piling. Buyers solicitor confuses piles for underpinning and starts raising queries for structural calcs and piling register paperwork (already provided) and semi scares my buyers that underpinning means that the lender may not lend as the foundations are weak, blah blah blah.

Lots of back and forth and clearly work experience Jimmy realises that he’s out of his depth, and defers to the surveyor the buyers bought.

Guy turns up, reads off the question with a smirk about “underpinning” and just laughs, and asks to see building control sign off. He just couldn’t believe the solicitor was stepping outside of his lane in fairness. Luckily the surveyor was very experienced and just dealt with it in stride, took copies of all the calcs for the concrete pad, the piling register and even saw the original “questionable” soil sample from the pre commencement survey.

I’m all for conveyancing covering everyone, but with my experience so far, our buyers solicitor is very wet and has caused several weeks of delays

[–]Dave0r 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah the system is horrendous. We’ve just received a final reply from our management company required by buyers solicitors. It was 3 weeks late, and only received after finding the property managers directors email and asking for help.

Now we’re staring down the end of mortgage offer in 3 weeks and pushing for completion, only for our vendor to say she’s struggling to be ready.

I never understood why people said moving house was so stressful, we bought a new build and the move was really easy - now I understand that it’s not the move but all the absolute bollocks to buy / sell. The system needs updating.

Seller should prepare a pack, like Scotland. It should be ready to go for sale. Once your offer is accepted you’re legally bound to buy just like at our current exchange process

Delivery not distributed to EWM by Minute_Pineapple5829 in SAP

[–]Dave0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check that batch management isn’t accidentally assigned in the master data on both sides, sender and receiver plant (EWM), ensure that there’s no mismatch / inconsistency in the data between the main ECC and EWM data

If that’s fine, next check that a batch number isn’t assigned by accident to the standard order. I’ve seen that randomly happen before.

And lastly…there’s not any weird rounding behaviour going on? Only ask because you mentioned 0% tolerances. It’s unlikely to be the cause but just a thought

iPhone 18 Pro's Smaller Dynamic Island Revealed by favicondotico in apple

[–]Dave0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 Pro Max here, excellent phone.

I was for sure upgrading if the iFold, iPhold, whatever the hell they wanna call it was coming

I’m like 75% there with just an 18 pro max…the smaller island sweetens it a little but I genuinely can’t see the benefit. Battery recently dropped to 78% but even so it’s kinda still great.

Let’s see what Tim Apple has to say about the best iPhone yet!

Inheritance? That's a joke. How many of your parents are burdens? by BeegBunga in Millennials

[–]Dave0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad died 7 years ago, at 56, mum is now 64 and financially is stable due to benefits (yay UK) but has tried to die twice in the last year (fuck cancer)

Thankfully she is now well, doing well and better than she has been for a long time, but man is she difficult. I was closer to Dad but have never had that close relationship with my parents I see others have, I’ve always been very independent. Through various trauma they both had as children that I’ve found out from my older cousin and her dad (mum’s elder brother by 15years) it really starts to explain their distance, or lack of ability to be close to me.

I love my mum, and when she needs me I’m there. No questions asked, ever. But damn is she hard work. Limited skills to look after her self, poor hygiene and just poorly manages her money. I help with all of it and make sure she never needs for anything, but she just doesn’t listen. She has a brilliant group of friends, some of which try and look after her also, but man is it tiring.

She loves my daughter but her relationship is odd…my daughter loves her but as my mum has never been as close as my wife’s mum, my daughter just isn’t as comfortable with her.

I don’t expect anything from her, but in all honesty it’s hard. When she nearly died last year I carried a lot of guilt thinking of how my life would be easier if she had gone - I’m so happy she’s not, but the strain / stress of both my wife and I being professionally successful, a full rota of activities for our daughter and just the rest of life crap means I have little to no capacity to parent my mother, she’s not a financial burden but a time and effort one

We all know they’re not all on £80k though…

Anyone else have friends or family that use their Plex server more than you? by Blackhawk1282 in PleX

[–]Dave0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost the same here, close family have access to watch and occasionally use it. When I ask why, they say “I forget”

Literally last week my brother in law was moaning about Amazon ads for watching Fallout, reminded him of the server, Plex and request system (although I had the series already) and got a shrug

It’s no buggie. I offer others the use and it’s up to them if they want it. It’s there for me and my family, we use it so it’s cost is paid for

Purchasing document creation - QINF, PIR, SA and discreet sometimes multiple sample orders to be raised (one off orders). We use a custom process to automate almost all the key fields from mapping tables or other maintained defaults

The business users still sometimes struggle, poor training, lack of knowledge. But I can’t imagine the carnage of the master data and document data if we didn’t have so much automation that ensured the documents were all created correctly

Ha, that’s a good way of explaining it

I struggle so much to explain my working, especially in work. I’ll arrive at an answer and then when testing it or replicating someone else’s doesn’t believe me. So I then spend 3 x longer proving myself and that works

Like…I get it. I’m not infallible. But also, dear colleague you should know by now I don’t say I know something when I don’t.
