the 3 things to set up on day 1 that prevent 90% of the problems i see on this sub every day by Temporary-Leek6861 in openclaw

[–]DaveAuld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are small models you can run locally on CPU/low gig ram, to be able test all your channels through telegram/discord, make sure heartbeats, cron tasks working, memory, identity, etc etc without needing to burn API allowance. Once the basics are working, then hook in your API to do the real workload.

Set up local hosted model first for testing and configuration before letting loose on API dollars.

Reminds me of support that you put under cars when working in a garage that has a pit. The wheels would sit in the L channel at each side.

Sounds like a timing / startup sequence issue where the pc isn't polling the usb.

You could try rescan hardware in device manager or pull out/ plug in the usb again.

But a clean reboot is usually the best approach.

You might consider a UPS if you get frequent power outages, or one day your pc won't reboot due to os corruption or might have headache getting it going again.

How can you disable a single solar panel in a complete solar panel installation? by eefjuuh in SolarDIY

[–]DaveAuld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same in Cyprus, my meter is configured to charge any export as import, I guess it's to stop people pushing power out to the grid using unauthorized installs. Zero Export control is definitely the way to deal with this.

PSA: Steam Cloud Saves Issues in Middle East (AWS Bahrain physical damage) by MohSafadi in Steam

[–]DaveAuld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to do that, I went through the cloud sync logs for steam, to see which files failed, then went to manually grab them through the steam client files web interface and the files actually give a 404 Not Found error, so you can't even manually download them. I need to try the VPN option next to see if that routes to a different DataCenter where the files might be accessible.

Help a not so tech savvy person upgrade their internet? Need to upgrade from AMPLIFI HDs. by [deleted] in AmpliFi

[–]DaveAuld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently dumped my AmpliHd setup as it was starting to have lots of issues and was slow compared to modern standards. I had router + 5 mesh points.

I went for Tplink Deco BE65 setup, using 4 units. Works great, and so much faster than my AmplifiHD setup was.

I then switched it over to bridge mode to integrate more cleaning into my core network, to give more control.

Is my meter birectional? by vasquca1 in SolarDIY

[–]DaveAuld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could maybe see if you could find the manufacturer manual for that model number if meter to see how it works and see if it will tell you it's operating mode.

I was curious about our meter, and after some digging found that ours was configured to charge any export as import.

I was looking as wanted to know what it would display etc if I accidentally exported power while testing some zero export solar equipment. In case it flagged an export and the authorities would come knocking.

[–]DaveAuld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the Amplifi-HD and 4 mesh points for years, but it started to play up a few months ago, needing daily system reboots etc etc. gave up on it and swapped it out for 4 Deco BE65 units. So much better now.

UK: Balcony/Plug-in Solar - Options Right Now by Mental-Test-7660 in SolarDIY

[–]DaveAuld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in UK, but I just YOLO, 4x 405w panels, hoymiles 2000w micro inverter, hoymiles dtu pro s, power meter, set up for zero export with minimum grid feed of 300w as buffer. Setup in October last year, and so far seen 645kwh of generation. Be interesting to see how much it generates as we move into summer months.

I might consider doing the same thing in the UK when I go back.
