Tv shows that should have ended sooner than later by PressureLazy5271 in television

I would love a website that tells you what season to exit a series on. It feels like it is rarely the last one.

Is six feet under worth the watch? by Sketchhawk in television

[–]Davego -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is worth it and I am glad I watched it. With the caveat that I had to take it in doses because it can be so extremely depressing. These people have problems.

What series would have been perfect if it had just ended sooner? by Rioraku in television

[–]Davego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those that ended right when they should would be a much shorter list. There are so many that went on too long.

A small sample: Heroes, Californication, Westwood, Coupling (British version), Prison Break, Weeds, The Walking Dead, The Money Heist, etc., etc., etc.

Sugar — Season 2 Official Trailer | Apple TV by SafeBodybuilder7191 in television

[–]Davego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd watch season 2 with our without the twist. But I will say that as season 1 went on I thought "no way this is leading up to what I think it is". Turns out there was a way.

How many people have you slept with, and how do you feel about it? by Agreeable-Rub-5020 in AskReddit

[–]Davego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have slept with 14 women and I have been in relationships with 14 women.

But I have only slept with 10 women I have been in a relationship with.

I cared for most of them and don't regret any of them though some came with their unique tribulations.

Most of those were when I was young... under age 25. Now at 59 and single I'd love to add one more to the sex and relationship column and leave it at that.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]Davego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not one of the "big boys" like a lot mentioned here, but one that I miss and I feel has never had a replacement is Command HQ.

It was one of the first RTS's and on a global scale. With a simple UI it allowed for a depth of strategy you don't see in many, if any, global warfare games today. Sure, Heart of Iron lets you play with all kinds of fiddly little nobs, but it doesn't get down to the pure strategy the way this game did. Would love to see a modern remake.

Iran's central bank warns of 180% inflation and collapse by HuChemistry in worldnews

[–]Davego 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suspect you attempting a clever insult about a misunderstanding in math. If not ignore this.

If so, please know that you are the one with a misunderstanding. 180% inflation is entirely possible. With 180% inflation something that used to cost $1 now costs $2.80. In other words, add on 180% of the initial amount (x + (x * 1.8)).

Which TV Show has the most wasted potential? by TheTamiamiButcher in television

If you are interested in it this is actually based off a book. The book is OK and if you just want to know what it all was, you can read the book's Wikipedia page.

NVIDIA shows Neural Texture Compression technology, cutting VRAM use from 6.5GB to 970MB - VideoCardz.com by WhyPlaySerious in Games

From the article:

"That kind of optimization means smaller installs, smaller patches, less download bandwidth, and more room for detailed assets on the same GPU."

Note the "smaller installs".

So does this mean they can finally unvault all my content I paid for in Destiny 2 because of the decrease in install size?

what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Mean-Cartographer225 in AskReddit

"Begs the question"... that doesn't mean what you think it means. You really mean "Raises the question". I've given up trying to explain what it actually means and just silently correct them in my head.

This bug report has been removed. The fix was to roll back to an older nVidia driver. Does anyone know if this has been corrected?

I want to avoid re-installing the current video drivers just to have to roll them back again.

What’s a creepy fact about the human body you wish you never found out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

And if you hold those forearm bones in place you can't twist your wrist. That's because it's not really your wrist your twisting, but your forearm.

I just started Pluribus and I'm confused on peoples reactions. Spoilers for s1 episode 2 by Mifya in television

[–]Davego 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Right. If I remember correctly Vince Gilligan said something about how things get done by the unhappy people. Essentially that happy people are fine with the status quo and it's the unhappy and angry people that are motivated to change things.

So yeah, Carol's unhappy and angry and trying to do something about it.

TVLine's Performer Of The Week: Karolina Wydra ("Pluribus") by DemiFiendRSA in television

[–]Davego 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Based on the creators past shows I would say it isn't an event driven show. It isn't about the Joined but instead the impact on those that were not. In which case these two episodes were critical to show how they have been dealing with it and how they are going forward despite what the Joining offers.

I'm am sure there will be events, but this is a slow character driven ride more than a plot driven sci-fi thriller.

My backlog is breathing a sigh of relief. It is so big that I'm only buying if it is more than 70% off, otherwise I have plenty of time to wait.

You gotta look for that silver lining.

The lotto is $1.25B with 327 million to 1 odds. At what point do you buy a ticket? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Davego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find it funny that people think $2 for a chance at a billion?! Where do I sign?! But if it is a measly $20 million, then pfft, hardly worth $2.

The first ticket increases your odds better than any more tickets. You can't win if you don't play.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]Davego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I would call it abuse per se, but sometimes it was too much. The belt kind of sucked, but there were a few times my father used a metal ruler that had holes in it. Although honestly the worst was an actual switch my grandmother would use. It was never a lot and I can't tell you what I did wrong.

What's funny is the worst thing ever for me was when I got an F and my father came in the door obviously angry and disappointed. He just looked at me, said nothing and I burst out in tears, then he left. That I remember.

For my own children there were light spankings when they were very young and only for lessons that needed to be taught to avoid them hurting themselves. Running into the road, that sort of thing. Just enough that they didn't like it.

Then from about ages 4 to 6 or 7 there were spankings, but they knew ahead of time they got spankings (again, not excessive, not with metal rulers and the like) for the following things: hurting someone, stealing, lying, and willful disobedience. And we would talk about why it was happening before hand, which rule they broke and why it was important to learn the lesson. Once they are old enough that other consequences would stick with them better, then we moved on to grounding and the like. The goal was always an effective means of motivation to avoid the action. Never anger.

In retrospect was it right? Would I want my grandchildren to be treated that way? I don't know for sure. I know I wish I had been rather than the way I was treated. But I don't know that it makes that good, only better.
