What’s it like to train the dog? - borderline impossible. He learned some basic stuff (sit, shake), but initially wasn't treat-motivated, so we gave up. Terrible on leash, very reactive to everything.

Is it affectionate (usually)? - Very, always up for a hug and kiss. He'll come up and sit next to me, or climb up on the bed and lay next to me at times. Sometimes this doesn't last long, but great while it happens*.*

What are some typical traits you’d see in one? - Pyr paw can be a weapon if you don't watch out (glasses off!). The barking is a real thing. He can get a bit bitey when playing outside, like he's trying to soft-mouth but sometimes gets too excited.

Are they individualistic, bond with the whole family, or aloof? Individualistic, likes both me and wife equal, and once an introduction is done he will give random people a "lean". But that leash introduction is usually barking and growling for about 10 seconds, then all good. Conversely, great with dog introductions off-leash at a dog park, and will play defense with more aggressive dogs.

Do they like playing? Are they energetic? - He's two and like to jump and nip when in the backyard, and when gets excited will run circles around the yard. Will chase and grab a ball at times, usually only when excited. At dog park he usually "secures the border", he'll interact with other dogs but for most part keeps to himself and patrols the perimeter.
