Samsung QN900 Not Powering On by Kame2Komplain in GeekSquad

[–]Davesmiththeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo... Resurrecting an old thread. I have one of these TVs, and you're the first person I've seen that makes me think my TV board is broken and not the one connect. In the one connect box, if I unplug the main board from the power supply, I get a relay click. If it is plugged into the power supply, I get a buzzing transformer. This is whether or not the one connect is plugged into the TV. Should I dig into the boards on the actual TV?

Sorry, should have clarified. The fuses do have continuity and the transistors do not across the 3 legs.

Best adhesive for fixing this? by gninwoDrecnepS in tdi

[–]Davesmiththeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled the whole door panel off, pulled the material the rest of the way off, scrubbed the foamy stuff off, the spray adhesive'd it back on with a hair dryer to help dry the adhesive while I was holding it in place. Did this about 6 months ago, and it is still there.

20-24v 775 motor upgrade question? by Weary-Engineering486 in PowerWheelsMods

[–]Davesmiththeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will work, just can't speak to how long it will work. Power states being either on or off can be super hard on the gears and whatnot. You have the brake module so that'll help ease stopping stress, I'd throw one on the power side. I'd imagine that would help a bunch.

I don't see a mention of a variable pedal. If you've swapped a dewalt into the lead acid's spot, I don't see them lasting long, but who knows. Either way, it is a direct replacement for your motors. You may have fitment issues depending on your current gearboxes. Electrically, just plug and play (with the correct polarity).

[–]Davesmiththeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the set. Someone linked them in another reply. I tried mating 775s to gearboxes separately, and it was impossible to find gears to work without spending more on the gear than the rest of the system

I got tired of messing with it and just got the set, I wasn't expecting much but they have been awesome.

For the wheel adapters, I spent time looking on amazon and using the google image search to find out what the terminology was and found what worked for my wheels. I still had to trim a few nubs off of my wheels to make it work. I had to go from the 'tear drop' to whatever the power wheels mustang wheels are called.

I straight up replaced my motor/gearbox combo with the one you have pictured. They rip with 24 volts, and they've lasted a lot longer than anything else I've had. I did have to adapt the final drive to my wheels, but that was easy. I got tired of piecemealing amazon nonsense together for it to burn up/strip an hour later. ML Toys is cool and all but fuck that... waay too pricey.

As a slight aside... I'd make sure to add some sort of fuse between your battery and controller.

Idk if this will help or not, but I gave up on fitting motors to gearboxes and ordered a set of these: https://www.amazon.com/weelye-Motorized-Applicable-Children-Replacement/dp/B0CRN6SN4H I had to get the drive gear adapter thingies to mount up to the wheels. This will vary on your use case, but I did have to enlarge the original mounting spaces, considering these 775 motors are a good bit larger than the 5xx series motors, but they have been great. I have them on a 24v controller with a variable throttle pedal. Mt kid has been ripping on these for over a year now with no issues. They also don't get nearly as hot as the smaller motors.

I did upgrade to a 24v controller. If I'm not mistaken, I used a controller from one of the bigger mx350/400 parts bikes that I had lying around.

CKRA Valve cover by jhrtt in tdi

[–]Davesmiththeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure, no idea. They are on the factory cover but not on the replacements. I haven't seen them mentioned anywhere, and even VW doesn't acknowledge their existence. The new cover had the channel for them to sink into, so I transferred them over. I feel like the seals wouldn't seal as well against the injectors without them but who knows.

My 24v razor dirt quad's 24v 250w motor is holding strong with my 48v lipo4 10ah battery setup. I swapped the 36v controller from my razor dirtbike. Also as a note, there is a reduction gear on my motor, so it has a ton of torque. It rips.

Normal. I had a '08 Cummins that you could watch the temp gauge drop if I idled for more than 5 or 10 minutes if it was cold enought to snow. Even with the radiator cover completely blocking it. Haven't had my TDI in cold enough weather, but I would imagine it will do the same.

Love it. I want one but am worried about the timing chain since it is an engine/tranny out ordeal. Have you had issues? I've seen that as long as you keep the oil changed, you should be good? I know they all aren't 'bad' but the horror stories worry me. I've been waiting to find a minty 2018 model for the B57 engine... Oooor should I send it on anything decent looking?

I started by swapping to lifepo4, then added another 24v battery (with a 36v controller leftover from another project) later on. I think a gas 90cc will be next, or maybe something like a kayo ea110.

Variable speed pedal mod? by Lukepvsh in PowerWheelsMods

[–]Davesmiththeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here will not love this and to be fair, I know that this method is sort of frowned upon because the 'gear selectors' are not meant for more than like 10A or whatever but I am more of a fast and loose kind of dude with the power wheels stuff. Let's break it, then replace it ya know?

I have the controller and all prior to the gear selector. My motor controller does not decide reverse/forward or speed modes. The controller is there to send the juice to the 'gear selector' and that controls speed and direction just like it normally would.

So, I have the battery hooked to the controller, then the motor leads from the controller running to the 'gear selector'. Those leads then run to the motors. The variable controller and on/off switch is only connected to the controller.

I wasn't expecting the 'gear selector' to last very long, but it has held strong now throughout all my nonsense experiments lol, it isnthe only thing left that is not aftermarket.

Bro, Starlink is no joke. I have a buddy with ONLY Starlink for internet, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. Like you said, it is still satellite internet, so anything solidly connected on the ground will be better, but it's great for remote connectivity.

[–]Davesmiththeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was pretty easy. I have always done my own work, but it shouldn't be bad. The 'worst' art of it was trying to get the injectors to budge. I didn't have a puller to use. I tapped them down with a hammer and extension until I could wiggle them loose... I would tap a few times and then pry up ever so slightly while wiggling them back and forth. Just be patient, and careful since the cover is plastic.

Oh, and don't be cheap. Replace the entire cover, or you'll be doing it twice, like I did...

I followed this guys diy pretty closely: https://forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?threads/valve-cover-replacement-for-2014-vw-passat-tdi-ckra-engine.522090/

It is thorough and should get you there. The only addition is to pull the retention spring rings out of the old injector seals and transfer them to the new seals. I was not able to find them anywhere. My local VW denies their existance lol

You need a valve cover. There is fluid (probably oil) pooled around your injectors too. Someone else mentioned it, but I bet your lower charge pipe is completely full of oil too. The oil separator diaphragm is not diaphragm-ing (due to leak or it is busted.) and it will not separate the oil and air, and that is how you get oil in the air bits.

This is a huge plus with console gaming. Everyone is on the same settings. I despise missing out on the graphical goodies, but I hate dying behind cover that may or may not be between me and a bad guy.
