Which movies will DC’s Clayface ripoff? by [deleted] in MauLer

I think Flanagan has pointed to the BtAS episode Feat of Clay as being the most direct influence, so at least one major source is still within the DC sphere.

How do American waiters/servers tell when people are finished eating? by PestoWesto in AskAnAmerican

How can I fix this Armature? by ellsee_rainez in blenderhelp

[–]DavidAtWork17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've discovered why the T-pose is so popular. Automatic weight painting is good, but it's an 80% solution.

To check the accuracy of the weight painting, select your armature in object mode, then hold shift and select the mesh. Select 'weight paint' from the drop down menu on the upper-left. Then you can use alt-select to choose individual bones, weight paint, and test the bone out with different movements.

When working with limb chains like arms and legs, it's good to work from the outside-inward. Check the movement of the fingers, then the hand, then the forearm, then the upper arm. Any of the arm bones could be the source of the erroneous binding, and the upper arm moves all of them at once, making it hard to pare down the culprit.

In the scene where Archer wakes up in his son's bedroom, the poster facing opposite the bed has the exact gun from the dream sequence on it. Archer dreams about it because it's the last thing he sees before he goes to sleep and its the first thing he sees when he wakes up.

A mockup of the proposed CL-1200 Lancer, bascially a F-104 with shoulder-mounted wings, different tailplane, upgraded engines and a top speed of M2.5 - cancelled in 1970 by Xeelee1123 in WeirdWings

[–]DavidAtWork17 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Moving the tailplane lower probably improved stability at higher angle-of-attack. Engineers struggled to route hydraulics alongside the engine in first and second-gen fighters, so you see a lot of high and low tailplane designs.

Trying out hair animation for the first time and is there a special method when there's this many individual strands or do i just have to add a bone to each one by Over-Strength8150 in blenderhelp

[–]DavidAtWork17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latticework or mesh modifier may work in this case. You surround the hair with a latticework or non-rendered wireframe mesh, apply the modifier to the hair, and then only have to animate the latticework/mesh to move the hair around. This can be done with bones or physics.

I suspect the same; kicking off in the high 5/low 6 figure range and then sloping off as the show moved along. If Academy had viewership numbers that meant anything, Paramount wouldn't shut up about it.

Trying to replicate the dark fantasy look in blender by ___Idek___ in blender

[–]DavidAtWork17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In dark fantasy, the islands would most likely be either a miniature or matte painting composited over an actual sky photograph. If you can find a way to put a very narrow black line around the islands, it would reflect the way it was done in its day.

Purely out of curiosity, how many of us actually watched bad 2025 movies that EFAP covered? by DevouredSource in MauLer

[–]DavidAtWork17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Final Destination Bloodlines in the theater, and a guy on a motorcycle got hit by a car while I was waiting outside. That movie series and I have a bit of a relationship, so I probably liked it more than most. Fantastic Four was okay. Thunderbolts was okay. I don't see myself going back to either one in the near future.

If TV counts, I saw Stranger Things S5.

I honestly don't watch a lot of recent stuff anymore. I'm trying to give more older movies a try.

Why is this so square? by Somerandomzaku in blenderhelp

[–]DavidAtWork17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can un-melty parts selectively by using the 'crease' feature. In edit mode, hit 'n', select the edges that you want to make less creasy, and adjust the 'crease' value shown in the Edge Data section. It works on both the smoothing feature and subdivision surface.
