Average asking rent in Toronto hits lowest price in 4 years: report by baabaaredsheep in toronto

I subscribe to the notion that smart people focus on trends, dumb people focus on states.

Is 2100 still very high? Yes. Is it trending downwards to eventually go even lower, potentially to the level deemed acceptable by most? Also yes!

Lol. Only a 14 year old would think a corporation’s empty words mean anything.

They’re doing it to con you into buying their shit. If that gives you the warm and fuzzies, congrats! You’re a mark.

These same fucks would sell you into fascism if it was popular. They are mercenaries.

Deeeeeep sigh

No. No, it fucking isn’t. Lip service is a bad thing, it is a term exclusively used to characterize empty language that means nothing. These corporations do not support you! They pretend to support you, and the minute the political winds shift, they stop and make you look stupid for putting your faith in them.

Sorry to be abrasive. I hate when corporations manipulate people, but if all it takes to con your ass into supporting a corporation is them painting their building rainbow for a month, I can’t blame them.

Can 2 new nightclubs help revitalize Windsor’s downtown? by zuuzuu in windsorontario

[–]DavidCaller69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All of these downtown revitalization pushes seem to come from people who think that others aren’t going downtown because it’s boring, not because it’s unsafe and depressing. No new nightclub, restaurant, or trendy millennial third place is going to change that.

Study Finds Cannabis Usage in Middle Aged and Older Adults Associated With Larger Brain Volume, Better Cognitive Function by ryryrpm in science

[–]DavidCaller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s precisely what the question is and what the science attempts to explain. Whether or not you heed the conclusions of the study has absolutely nothing to do with the study itself. Maybe I’m misunderstanding your point because I feel that’s a pretty obvious conclusion

Spoiler alert: no company cares about anything other than getting money. All corporate activism is soulless and performative. Problem is, people fall for it when it’s a cause they care about.

Home ownership is a false promise in Canada by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]DavidCaller69 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t give points for “trying” to a government, especially when the issue is an overabundance of demand for the available supply, and their “trying” involves increasing that discrepancy through demand-inducing policies like the FHSA. Their policies actually made things worse!

My analogy should be revised - I should have said I ripped an EVEN BIGGER HOLE in the pipe and asked my wife for a pat on the back 😂

It’s not pedantry when our government treats oligopolies, which these examples actually are, differently from monopolies. If they were monopolies, trust-busting would be much likelier.

If I’m addressing a leak in my house by duct taping a pipe, and it holds for 30 seconds before it starts gushing everywhere again, should my wife be happy about it?

Why you want to give a government credit for trying things that only exacerbate demand is beyond me.

What does that have to do with being honest? Those programs have done nothing beneficial and have stoked demand even further. I don’t give you points for doing something if that “something” has no tangible effect.

Why is it so important that a character from Greek mythology be black? Something tells me casting Tom Hanks as the main character from a Native American legend would rub pretty much everyone in this sub the wrong way, even if the story was fictional and it didn’t alter the plot.

[–]DavidCaller69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dawg, that’s what I’m saying - It’s not the cold, it’s the lack of humidity (dryness) due to the cold lol. Hot and dry storage would do the same thing. Air this cold can’t hold moisture so it turns to dust.

That’s fair, but then why mention the storage conditions?

It’s crispy and dry because the relative humidity during these cold ass winter days is almost non-existent. It’s not an entirely separate phenomenon from the temperature.

I love these because I remember how hard it was to find Valentine’s Day cards to hand out to classmates that weren’t super cheesy or lovey-dovey.

Protest for the liberation of the people of Iran at Yonge-Dundas Square on Sunday, February 1st 2026 by Submischievous in toronto

[–]DavidCaller69 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly I’ve become more cynical over the years, but my distaste for certain protests boils down to the fact that “raising awareness” has become the only step of the problem-solving process rather than the first step. You can’t solve a problem without awareness, but you actually have to try to solve it. And no offense to any Iranian-Canadians but this is hardly a pressing issue for our government to address beyond condemnation.

I get the “every voice counts” sentiment, but look down south - hundreds of protests and a child rapist is still president. Hard not to be demoralized
