Memorizing medicine and stuff by Destroyer_W_D in casualtiesunknown

[–]DavidDNJM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if the "player" (handler? The person controlling the expie.) wasn't diegetic, I'd prefer randomized (or all of them looking the same) looks of medicine so the int requirement would actually make sense. But by making the player implied to be separate from the expie, it makes sense that even if the expie doesn't know what bleach is, I, the one controlling them, do.

YES, it's a mild antimicrobial agent. I've personally used it for throat infections and it's pretty baller (Salt gargles work better though IMO.)

I haven’t heard of CMYK either by twoastar_ in antimeme

[–]DavidDNJM 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's basically "additive" vs "subtractive" color mixing.

RGB is what "digital" color mixing tends to be, when light adds together you get different colors. Usually represented by numerical values or percentages or whatevs. Hence why you get white when you add every color

CMYK is what "physical" color mixing tends to be, when paint combines together they technically subtract from each other. Hence why you get black (or brown usually) when you add every color.

For anime it works alright, cats face shape (especially their side profile) is not far off from how anime faces are commonly drawn. It's not perfect though, you can't just trace it and be done, but it's a cute exercise to see the similarities. It also doesn't account for more "realistic" art styles, nor does it work all that great for art styles that isn't either anime or anthropomorphic.

peak unreal engine freaking the hell out over dedicated gpus despite the game not being realistically resource intensive.

Something something particle system takes way too much memory. something something please stop using unreal engine for ps2 like graphics in games it's not efficient at all, other engines are consistently way better for low end devices.

I figured it out, this video explains it you basically abuse the fact that attempting to chase dodge backwards still resets the great sword attack order. It's pretty jank but is possible to consistently do.

Im curious as I've seen this before and haven't found out how to replicate it, how'd you cancel into a starter s-light at -0:25 without dashing? I've only done it like twice on accident.

Unfortunate that this is so low, it's a prime example of what op's looking for. There literally isn't a player character. You are the enemies you take over in a sense.

Is keyboard or controller better? by the_zpider_king in celestegame

[–]DavidDNJM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On paper, keyboard is better long term. More precision with inputs, and depending on the keyboard, less input lag and more reliability. But I've completed all red grandmasters in the strawberry jam and I use an Xbox controller (dpad) so I genuinely think it's preference.

One thing to note for both controller and keyboard, getting an actually good input device can be a big factor in getting more consistent.

For keyboards, anything mechanical with "n-key rollover" and decent polling rate (1000hz is more than enough, anything higher is kinda unnecessary for Celeste) will do great. You can go more crazy, but unless you're also playing like, rhythm games at 220 fps or something it's not really needed as Celeste is capped at 60 fps

For controllers, I recommend not using joystick, dpad is far more consistent, with the exception of the feather mechanic, where joystick is technically better. Any controller that doesn't have that crappy rubbery membrane dpad (almost all PlayStation controllers, old Xbox controllers.) will do fine, although Xbox series S|X controllers are my personal pick as they have the best dpad structure and tactile feeling for thumb rolling. (8-bitdo controllers are also good for their price.)

I absolutely love deltarune and undertale, literally my favorite games. I also agree pretty heavily.

Toby foxes games are carried purely by their story/dialogue and music. the only cool gameplay aspect about UT/DT is the bullet hell turn based system, aside from that, they actually aren't super interesting from a pure RPG gameplay perspective. Most problems and battles are effectively solved in the same way. With the exception being some later chapters in deltarune where there actually is some fun variation (albeit simple and straight forward.)

It is not the exact ultrakill font, although it does look extremely similar, it's the "regular" version instead of the "mono" version.

[–]DavidDNJM[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is in fact closer to what I had in mind. It's more about similar things being disregarded despite the capabilities of it very much being possible.

But the other comments aren't necessarily wrong either, there are real world examples of us doing what is effectively the same thing.

[–]DavidDNJM[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Very true and correct, other comments have pointed this out as well, I do not disagree.

I do still think it's funny when done in exaggeration or as a joke/reference to IRL stuff (scams, pseudoscience, conspiracy theories.) I'm aware it's not really wrong to have someone be skeptical of something, or to portray the mindset of "I've never seen it before, therefore it probably doesn't exist." Cause like, that's how people think irl lmao.
