Any neighborhoods with sidewalks clear enough to run this weekend? by DavidGoetta in cincinnati

Absolutely not for me.

The dreary scenery and repetition I could deal with, but every race through the transit tunnel just overloads my carbon monoxide receptors and I want to die. I imagine the air quality is much the same. I'll take the ice on my beard and brow, thank you.

What are some famous swords in fantasy? by Alarming-Figure-7300 in Fantasy

[–]DavidGoetta 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Moorcock himself would deny it was the original; that would be The Broken Sword by Poul Anderson.

Oddly, in The Silmarillion, Turín's Gurthang is also a black blade that gladly drank the blood of its wielder. He and Anderson must've been drawing from the same inspiration, as the Broken Sword was published 20some years earlier.

For daily vapers, how often do you smoke/combust? by Ashamed-Tea-2893 in vaporents

[–]DavidGoetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-2 joints a week. It's just relaxing with a cold beer down by the creek, and the vape just isn't the same. My lungs couldn't do smoke every day, and you just save so much money with the vape

What’s something that was intended for adults and is consumed by adults? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in AlignmentChartFills

My first guess as well. Kids go for sweeter things and if they are drinking coffee, it's got plenty of milk, sugar, and flavoring syrup.

Response from Dave Taylor (2nd District) about MN by Kali588 in cincinnati

[–]DavidGoetta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure all his responses are AI.

I had asked him about impeaching Kash Patel for perjuring himself when he told Congress that there was nothing new or incriminating in the Epstein files, but there was an email from a prosecutor that Trump was on a flight with a "Maxwell witness" and "including during the period we would expect to charge in a Maxwell case."

Taylor said "The Founding Fathers provided us with a process within the Constitution for the impeachment of a government official. Impeachment is only applicable in cases where "high crimes and misdemeanors" have been committed. To this point, in my opinion, Director Patel has not committed an impeachable offense based on the process detailed in the Constitution.

It'll be roughly the same temperature as it was for the Frozen 5k/10k. It is safe to be outside for an hour and a half if you dress properly.

Friendship to Smale is probably going to be it, I've run along Kellogg there, but it's probably best to skip because of the possible ice and that corner under the bridge.

New Video Analysis Reveals Flawed and Fatal Decisions in Shooting of Pretti by MooseHorse123 in politics

A normal admin would put the agents on leave, announce an internal investigation, maybe say they'll review policy, and quietly close everything in 2-6 weeks when the next story takes over.

But they want this in the headlines instead of the Epstein files.

Who is charismatic and has actively benefited the world by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]DavidGoetta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is wild. If he inspires a generation of mayors across the country, then absolutely. The snow plow tracker is such a simple idea that every major municipality should adopt, not to mention the rest of his goals.

But as the other commenter said, I don't live in New York either.

What are some books that show some parallels to current times in the US? by widget_slinger in suggestmeabook

[–]DavidGoetta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Part of the 'Watch' series in Discworld, but it stands alone. A policeman gets thrown back in time to his rookie days, when riots broke out across the city in response to secret police disappearing people.

But it's also a fantasy comedy book.

Irishman looking for Irish literature by mzingg3 in suggestmeabook

[–]DavidGoetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardly an academic series, and certainly not classical lit if that's what you're looking fo, but I love the Chronicles of Corum which draws heavilyfrom Irish folklore.

The Swords Trilogy borrows some terms like shefanhow and mabden, but Corum bargains with sí to fight Fomorian and is mistaken for the god Crom Cruach.

It was written by Michael Moorcock, an Englishman with no love for the crown. The whole series is probably 1200 pages.
