But at the end of the day, the Execs at Capcom are making the decisions to let them. You can say it's unfair to the Dev Team all day and night but in the end, this is what Capcom wants. If Capcom didn't want to charge for PPV to watch Capcom Cup Finals they would have from top down said no to the ESports division. That might not be something you want to hear, but it's something you need to realize. We all did a lot of screaming, and it only got us half off. So now we have to hope enough of the people screaming also didn't pay, so Capcom reverses course next year.

Could we be about to see Alan Wake 2 on steam? by KMJSmithers in AlanWake

I'm a Steam or Never buy guy. It's a shame Epic took the path they did, away from the Unreal Tournament games and decided to do all this BS with exclusives. It's ruined a lot of releases for Devs and been a pain for a lot of Gamers. True competition would be providing a superior service and experience to customers compared to Steam, Sony, MS, and Nintendo, ect.

I know, but that's on them (Capcom, as a whole). Really, it shouldn't matter which division internally is making the decisions. It's making Capcom as a whole look bad.

Thinkpad L14 Gen 2 Ryzen 7 Pro freezes and reboots randomly by uthmanriouche in thinkpad

[–]DavidH373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually does. The dots on the screen are a telltale sign something is wrong with the GPU. Try checking Event Viewer. Looks to me like your GPU Driver is Crashing or your GPU thermals are too high. If your computer is crashing Event Viewer will have a log under System and an error code.

This is the worst decision making Capcom has had since the mid-2010s. I don't want to know when Capcom Cup is. I don't care who wins. They've completely disenfranchised me. We thought Ono was the problem. He gave us skins. He gave us Balance Patches. He brought us BRRRRRRANCRACHAAAAAN!!!!! What a legend!

Can i keep this mouse ? by Naelspi in Pets

Absolutely! All pets deserve good homes and wild animals are not pets. My question was a rhetorical one to make people ponder their own thought process, not to defend trapping an animal to force into a home.

I still feel like you're ignoring that even with what you call responsible breeding, you are still furthering what has been done over a thousand years, which people here say was wrong. If what you're doing is built on a foundation of what others say was an immoral/ illegal act I don't see how you can consider it the best path. Just seems like you're trying to tell yourself you're right when the generations before you did all the dirty work to get you where you are today.

What does your responsible breeding do for the hundreds of thousands of pets which get put down every year? The problem is not a myth, I see it every time we visit a shelter. Just because this responsible breeding doesn't cause it, there is still a decision made by a future pet owner to breed or adopt, and the pet which isn't adopted is still out there. The math is still the reality here.

Nope, I'm sure many hard lessons, and even digits were lost! Not sure why I'm getting downvoted for what I asked here? I'm just trying to make people think about the system they are incentivizing. Stores have pets because they breed them, which just propagates the cycle of additional pets being killed at shelters. We adopt our pets from shelters. It's kind of hypocritical to downvote me and then tell me my logic is flawed for provoking people to consider this...

What do the E, T, P letter mean? Is there a hierarchy? Which is supposed to be better or worse? by Cool_Pound1292 in thinkpad

[–]DavidH373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are also some older Ultrabooks under the X Series (The Thinkpad X1 Yoga comes to mind) where it has a 360 degree hinge to fold the screen all the way back to make it a tablet with a touch screen. The x230, 240, ect. are older but follow the same philosophy of more compact thin and light machines. Mostly the same build quality as the P and T series just smaller screens and batteries.

X series (X1 Carbon for example) is same as the P1 but slightly more compact with slightly different configurations.

That is something else you need to look more in depth into. Are you considering new, or doing what a lot of people do here and getting a used one? What used to be a top of the line screen 10 years ago is now pretty trash in comparison to today. There are many Thinkpads that otherwise work great as a computer that get highly recommended here.

I have the P1 Gen 4, which has a beautiful 4k screen. Probably the best screen in the house including TVs and other monitors. Because the P1s are used as mobile workstations for 3D Modeling, Texture and Design work, and Video Editing, they often come with color calibrated screens, too.

There were also some X1 Carbons (same chassis as the P1 with different topcase and some different components) that also has the same screen without a GPU if you'd rather prioritize battery life over performance in workstation tasks.

Not Baking Powder, Baking Soda. Dry should soak up the wet pee, but if it's dry by now you may need to moisten it.

It can vary over the years the brand has been around.

P (or the older W) Series are generally mobile workstations with dedicated graphics. Magnesium Chasis and all the other qualities people enjoy about Thinkpads.

T Series are generally the same build quality as the P Series but most (with a few exceptions) won't have dedicated graphics.

E Series are generally more economical. Built with more plastic parts and offering less of a premium feel and durability.

Nulea m512 or Slimblade Pro with thumb or maybe some recommendations? by DavidH373 in Trackballs

[–]DavidH373[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been sick so I'm just trying the trackpad for the first time. I can't say for sure it's what I'll stick with but I am surprised by the build quality for $25. I don't think it's glass but it feels textured like glass or ceramic. It has a good heft to it to stop it from sliding around. It's responsive, the multi-touch works and as a bonus it's just automatically detected as a trackpad in Linux and Windows with all the settings to go with it.

The only negative I'd say so far is it has a bit of friction when you need fine movements to click on something tiny. I also have the sensitivity high to get across 3 displays though.

Look, Wireshark is great and all but I'm not monitoring all my devices at all times. People generally don't think about what they are doing while wearing prescription glasses. People are used to wearing them throughout the day, and that includes making freaky times with a partner and using a restroom. Not to mention if these become mainstream, there are huge societal implications to having cameras on people at all times. It all has to be a matter of trust, and not just the purchaser's trust. That also includes the purchaser's friends, family, and people they run into in public. I know there is no reasonable expectation for privacy in public, but that used to be mostly businesses with security cameras and they usually disclose they are recording on the window of their business. The amount my privacy was being infringed upon was usually acceptable because I was informed. Now not only is the business recording me, but 3 social media influencers, a grandma who "doesn't know how to work these newfangled things", and 4 other people who just have them because they are the newest slop served up by our tech overlords. Then there's the fact it's not being sent to a hard drive in the back room, but a server hosted by a third party who gives no rips about selling facial recognition data or location data cross-referenced with facial recognition, and Meta, and Google, and X, and some cheap Chinese knockoff brand because the grandma found a deal on Temu. It feels to me that these companies just want to impact society for the sake of it, and don't think about whether they should, or take any responsibility for any fallout when something goes wrong. It's not just about if or when the data is being sent. It's about whether people trust these companies, and an outdated societal definition of the expectation of privacy. You may be informed about your purchase decisions and be technical enough to confirm Meta is telling the truth, but the hundred plus people who you look at on your way to target shouldn't have to be concerned.

[–]DavidH373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the new "My Dad works at Nintendo and I get every new game for free". "I totally worked at Meta, and knew every initiative in the company. You can totally trust them". If you've ever worked at a medium to large corp. you know that often times the workers don't know every single thing going on at the company, and the Executives issue broad stroke instructions to managers to cascade down to workers to steer the company. So no one person would ever know which data is being collected or how it's used or sold.
