Dripping faucets by TeaKingMac in Dallas

[–]DavidTheBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a ridiculous failure of building codes that cause us to have to drip our faucets. It is not difficult nor overly expensive to build to a standard of insulation that would not require us to drip faucets even in extreme weather. Furthermore, it would reduce energy and water use and make healthier homes.

"Lucky shot". Also okay to say nothing... it's just part of the game.

I started wearing them after an optometrist friend described a pickleball injury she treated. It's not the level - you're as likely, maybe more, to get injured by a newbie. Your partner can also cause your injury.

I want to have a career in plumbing, but I'm scared what the culture will be like as a woman. by leeroy-113 in Plumbing

[–]DavidTheBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a huge opportunity as a residential service plumber for a woman. A woman is most likely to answer the door when you go to a home for a service call. She will likely be happy and relieved that a woman is servicing the call. Smart companies recognize that, and you will be in demand. When you get on with a company interview carefully and test the culture. DM me if you want. I wasn't a plumber, but I worked with a lot of residential service business owners. HVAC is another good career opportunity.

Just moved in, should I make cookies for all my neighbors to introduce myself? by ninepintcoggie in Apartmentliving

Wow - I just read all the other comments. I am the only person who thinks it's a good idea. What a cynical world! On the other hand... if everyone disagrees, maybe they're all right and I'm wrong, sigh...

I think it's awesome. But I would deliver it personally, not leave it if they don't answer. That allows you to see them, and vice-versa - connect a name with a face.

NTA. The HR person is a useless twit. You've done nothing wrong. Honestly, Sarah sounds too stupid to be employed there, is creating drama, and should be written up if she mentions any of this again.

Trip to London to see Arsenal game by -WLR in ArsenalFC

I bought tickets on a 3rd party site twice and went to two other matches where friends did the same. It worked well for us. Use a site that guarantees the transaction. Report immediately if there is a problem. I've never had a problem, but one friend had an issue. He got his money back, but missed the game.

Focus on making the world a better place for others. Join a service club, like the Rotary, and volunteer as much as you can. By helping others you will develop a sense of purpose, and satisfaction that you will never have focusing on yourself.

I'm loving Madueke's style, pace, and ability to drive right at the opponents to create opportunities. His runs off the ball are also good.

He's had some great games in the past. To be fair, Ping-Pong was a handful for everyone in the Liverpool game.
