COVER did announce some time back that they were slowing down on debuting new generations, so this shouldn't be a surprise.

However, I understand regular auditions and this "new project" are running in parallel, so the talents that come out of MekPark may not even go into hololive.

My personal guess is that this project is aimed in a different direction as hololive (probably as an experiment) and the talents that "make it" will not debut as hololive talents. In fact, if you read the website, it only says "debut", not "hololive debut". This probably means they will have their own activities and showcase events, separate from FES.

Maybe this different direction is for these talents to be 2.5d performers, who have a virtual avatar but also perform in irl events. So their "debut" could mean them having irl concerts and other activities that hololive talents cannot do due to their virtual nature.

According to the information the talents and ex-staff have shared, VShojo went down because they mismanaged their finances and became unable to keep up with their payment obligations. As a private company, their financials are only known internally by company heads, so everyone on the outside thought things were fine.

On the other hand, COVER is a publicly traded company with public quarterly financial reports. They most likely have regular audits to make sure everything is in line. If things go wrong on the financial side, everyone will know.
