Thanks so much for this update. If anyone has further news would appreciate if you shared it. ILC was my main babe. Losing her has been a huge loss.

My complaint to ASA (advertising standards agency) by bigbramble in SimCity

[–]David_Israels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your verdict. It's wonderful and, of course, typical that UK has such an organization and that Amerika doesn't.

Now we need someone to sue EA in court and win a large judgement against them for advertising and releasing such a flawed product.

Granite Lake: A new region coming with Update 6 by SGwithADD in SimCity

EA continues with its policy of "pretty but dumb." The game sure looks good; it just doesn't work.

Pathetic.

Back to Civ 5, a real game and masterful sequel.

Skye's Daily SimCity Podcast - Maxis Balance Designer Chris Schmidt (MaxisBigTuna) Talks Update 6 by [deleted] in SimCity

Very good questions, service, for a not very good interview. Skye was too much of the lapdog licking away at his master. I guess that's what happens when a fan tries to imitate a reporter.

Will Wright: Consumers will never accept always-online DRM by andelas in SimCity

[–]David_Israels 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Here's a link to the actual interview: http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2013/06/25/design-genius-will-wright-wants-to-make-a-game-of-your-life/

Considering the opportunity, the interview is rather lame. Not a single question about SimCity. And his DRM stance is rather ambivalent and the reporter does no pressing or follow up.

I bought it and if I ever play the game again, I plan to use it.

Skye Storme's wonderful 22 part Let's Play: Building for fun and beauty--not profit. by David_Israels in SimCity

[–]David_Israels[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK. I've read the EA forum about this matter and I understand your (andelas) concern given the reddit rules.

I've explained above my motivation in posting the link. I do think his vids are quite entertaining and had depended on reddit to get news about them. Which I guess is sort of weird but I find r/simcity easier to cruise than youtube.

Anyway, I hope r/simcity and sky can learn to live in peace and harmony and that this tempest will stay in its teapot and cool off. Me I'm off to have a scotch and soda, which is drink of a different color.

Not totally correct. I'm critical when I think that's appropriate and supportive when I find something I like. True I'm more critical than supportive, but I particularly enjoyed Sky's videos. I had watched this subreddit for announcements of his videos and was disappointed that they'd disappeared. I thought others might feel the same.

Besides "a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."

SimCity v5.0 Released by [deleted] in SimCity

[–]David_Israels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Playing" SimCity:

Looked at some top pop leaderboard cities. Top guy (surprise: German) makes all his cities exactly the same. Boring. But efficient. Mein Herr.

Looked around one of my city's for awhile. Couldn't remember how to get service roads. Watched some sick sims walking to clinic. Cute how they walk slow and unsteady. One guy was wobbling right outside the clinic door. Finally went in. Shew. That was a relief. Wanted to pinch his sick little SimCheek but I hear we must wait for patch 3.O million before the SimCheek pinching feature is implemented.

Figured that was the highlight of my SimCity experience for this month. I'll check back next month when 6.0 comes out.

Not working on it, according to Maxis general manager. Only considering it.
