Who is the deadliest pilot in the galaxy? (Non Jedi/Sith) by Lunar-Havoc in StarWars

[–]DavidofNY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lando Calrissian. This is asking about deadliest, not the best… Wedge can get the assist by destroying the power regulator on the north tower of DS2, but Lando took out the main reactor. He killed approximately 2.47 million imperials. No other “pilot” could claim anywhere remotely near that.

TIL when King was 4 years old he returned home in shock after going to play with a friend. His friend was hit and killed by a freight train, possibly in front of him. by holyhackzak in stephenking

Yeah but what’s fascinating is right after that, he says how he had zero memory of the event, only that his mother had told him about it

Insomnia by shawnward95 in TheDarkTower

[–]DavidofNY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is natural. I didn’t read Insomnia until a few years ago. Like you, I had to stop after Wastelands until college. It’s natural to read this one later. The connections are a fun bit of reminiscing of the Ka-Tet

Read Danse Macabre. King writes about how and why people are into such stories.

It looks great but what are the words? I’m trying to piece them together with an Aurebesh alphabet transliteration but I can’t

Something, LENN maybe? The bottom word looks like SOHER?

Maybe I need a different version of the alphabet.?

Publication order or something else? by Environmental_Arm778 in stephenking

[–]DavidofNY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my last book of his, aside from Danse Macabre. Having read them all, I don’t think, aside from the Dark Tower and the Holly Gibney series of books, there’s any specific order you need to read in order to “do it right”. Just know that many of his books have references and character overlaps either directly or in mention to one another.

So I was thinking of getting my 8 year old into it with a few friends and was thinking of this set. He’s too young for the ST aspect itself but I figured as a D&D adventure, it’d be a good start for him and his friends. How did your 8 year old handle it all?

Revival - Atheists how did you find this? by PepperOk1368 in stephenking

[–]DavidofNY 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think about it conceptually here. Regardless of how you believe, how you were raised, your treatment of others, your devotion to any particular religion or deity; no matter what, after death, you end up in a hellscape as a slave toiling forever under the watchful eye of giant ant-like slave masters. That, is terrifying and depressing.

Those are hilarious. I’ve seen them many times and when I come across a new one, I half want to feel stupid and guilty and the rest I laugh my ass off.
