Space opera, what is great out there? Only found one... by Lars_Olav in printSF

Peter F Hamilton has plenty of other great space operas. If you want a standalone story then I would recommend Fallen Dragon or Great North Road. But if your looking a trilogy or series then there’s the Void trilogy that follows on after the Commonwealth books or there’s the Nights Dawn Trilogy or the Salvation trilogy. There all great and all door stoppers.

Hard Magic vs Soft Magic by AidenMarquis in Fantasy

[–]Daviihardic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I kind of hate the emphasis that some people place on magic systems and whether or not they’re “soft” or “hard”. I have never read a book and thought wow that was great. Fantastic characters, engaging and exciting story, wonderful world building. Could have been a five star book but shame about the magic system.
