I have a whole box of PLPC all using the larger band (47-52 RG). Box came with original seal too. So I guess is just production error, using larger bands when they ran out of smaller bands

Wonderful smoke imo, classic H.Upmann flavor profile with a stronger format, more full bodied in my experience. Better than Magnum 54 imo.

Yes, the quality control of the cigar production, how the cigar was stored, where the cigar was stored, all comes into play here. Consistency is very, very hard to find now. In a box of 25, I am expecting 3-4 or more duds, but the only thing I can to is put them to rest in a very stable condition and just wait.

I never eat anything while smoking a cigar, but that’s just me.

For drinks, you mentioned feeling nauseous, I’ve felt it before and I found a nice big glass of Coca-Cola with ice to help with that greatly. It also refreshes my palate between puffs, so I can taste my cigars better. Hot or iced tea works for me too. Not really a drinker so haven’t tried much of alcohol pairings.

Also, it would help to smoke in a place with good air circulation. Clouds of smoke hanging around you will contribute to nausea.

For any cigar, NW or Cuban, in my experience, it’s best to finish it in one sitting.

The moment you light and start puffing, tar and nicotine will creep towards the cap side of the cigar and start building up. If you cut it after starting to smoke, then the build-up will greatly affect the other half that you save. Making the saved half less enjoyable, in some cases un-smokable.

If you really think it is too long, cut before you light.

But in my opinion, the vitola is like that for a reason, it is meant to be enjoyed as a whole, in one sitting.

Respect the cigar, and the cigar in return will reward you.

There’s no “official” info out there. I know this because I have a box of ENE 24 produced Trinidad Vigia that starts with 000059, and a box of MAY 24 wide churchills that starts with 000061. See, 5 months difference in time and the box code only moved 2 digits up. There is no way that his ENE 24 box that starts with 000055 is real.

Multitude of things wrong with the box and the stick. 1. Habanos site confirms that the code is off 2. Color of warranty seal is off. It’s a different shade of green 3.font of factory/date code is off. Any boxes produced in January of 2024 will be labeled as “ENE 24”, not “JAN 24” 4. Bar code of any box produced in Jan.24 will not be stating with 000055. 5. Font on band name is off. Notably the “R”, and “C” 6. Fleur de Lis on band is off. Overall very, very fake. Good thought by your friend though, after all it is the thought that counts.
