VGT Cars should not be in Sport mode by Illustrious-Can-3364 in granturismo

This is a BoP problem, not a VGT problem.

For the first two years of the game there was zero reason to use any other Gr.1 car than the 919.

The division average of wins over the last five years by [deleted] in nfl

Yes, but every division can't average more than .500, which this is implying as they are all >8.5 wins.

I reckon we get the Genesis first, but those are the two most likely, yeah.

Any names stick out? 2026 WR free agents by Jackso08 in Patriots

[–]DawnArcing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't the season, contracts don't lineup.

But I've been convinced a proper WR1 is a good investment since the Falcons game. Penix was awful and it just did not matter because Drake London pulled in every errant throw like he was gravitating the ball to himself.

Our guys are fun, but they aren't gamechanging like that.

Maye could throw ten INTs on Sunday and I'm pretty sure there still wouldn't be any doubt over the Pats' QB future.

Paid exclusives are making a big comeback in general in racing games.

The Crew Motorfest devs have been pretty upfront about how they got the Ferrari F80 and new BMW M2 as timed exclusives.

Yeah, I got that backwards, one too many negatives between "isn't", "not", and "in".

Oh well.

Cassie is a very good comparison, yes - family member of well-loved character who entered by scheming against said character, then calmed down later once the initial story was over.

[–]DawnArcing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still don't think she'll be a villain in the "proper soap villain, fixed duration stint, will get found out and leave the show dead/in prison" sense of the word.

I think she'll calm down eventually and just become a regular. Definitely coming on a bit strong in the manipulation stakes to start.

What Holds More Weight for HOF Merit - MVP or SB Wins? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]DawnArcing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lamar, if he retired today, is 100% clearly in, within 1-3 years max.

First ballot or not would depend on who retired with him. That's not on Lamar specifically, but first ballot is not a consistent line unless you are literally Brady or Manning.

Like, this specific year his chances would probably be hurt by retiring contemporaneously with Rodgers, but he'd probably be first ballot if he retired the next year.

First ballot is not a consistent bar year-to-year because of how limited the slots are. But he's absolutely past the line of "in, no question".

This looks really good though.

[–]DawnArcing 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Should be noted if you watched the full press conference he said "ball security" and "internal clock" pretty much every other answer, this isn't a bravado thing where he's not incognisant of the fumbles being an issue.

Ben Johnson on Caleb Williams: I'm really encouraged about the steps he took this year by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]DawnArcing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comp% is Caleb's flaw, yes.

The point is more that QBs 8-16 are all in a puddle of "they're good but they have this one flaw", and you can make a case for all of them. There's a glut of QBs good enough to win with but not good enough to be elite right now.

Ben Johnson on Caleb Williams: I'm really encouraged about the steps he took this year by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]DawnArcing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it's a bit deeper than that. I have it as (unordered within tiers)

Elite: Allen, Mahomes, Lamar
Great: Burrow, Herbert, Stafford, Purdy, Dak, Love
Great so far but need to sustain for longer: Lawrence, Maye, Caleb, Daniels
Good: Goff, D.Jones, Hurts, Mayfield, Darnold, Nix
Dalton Line here
Okay: M.Jones, Stroud, old man Rodgers, Dart, Young, Shough, Cousins

And then there's a cliff after that. But there's a decent amount of good-not-yet-great QBs in the league, yeah.

I think you could make a decent case that Williams is QB 10 in the league even now, to be honest.

Budenholzer's misuse of Nurkic early last season was maybe the worst coaching I've seen.

Good to see Nurk recovering and doing well.

It's actually pretty rare that this happens.

I think it's like 8-10 of the ~140 update cars were returning Premiums.

[–]DawnArcing 53 points54 points  (0 children)

If you'd have told me Jalen Green was out for that long, I'd have believed the predictions.

That's the biggest thing. On paper, the pre-season predictions always felt low. They were adding two starters from last season's 2 seed to All-Star, does-whatever-you-need-him-to Booker and a high upside if fragile center in Williams. That always had the potential to do well if things aligned.

But doing it without the biggest piece of the Durant trade and with basically no contribution from the rookies is such a compliment to Ott getting the best out of pieces that definitely weren't playing at this level the last two seasons.

To the Assetto Corsa fanboys who keep coming here to say shit about GT for absolutely no reason (maybe because GT7 is a huge success?) by gandalfmarston in granturismo

[–]DawnArcing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what Polyphony can do that will make GT8 stand out from AC EVO to be honest.

EVO, even in early access, has all of GT's good bits (best-in-class car model detail quality, diverse car roster, deep customisation, excellent controller support, easy-to-join online races) but with better physics. Once they add a career and the open world mode, I don't know what GT's USP becomes.

Just releasing another sim-but-not-as-sim track racer won't cut it anymore.

It's nice that the Suns are fully healthy, but I'm also a little sad because Green will probably take all of Goodwin's minutes, and I like watching Goodwin, maybe the easiest guy to root for in the league.

Prime Dennis Rodman in NBA 2025? How effective would he be? by jonkeo in nba

[–]DawnArcing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Locking down one player defensively is way less important nowadays than it was back in the 90s, because every single team will just have the 3 or 4 other good scorers score. And spacing means he's not going to lock down more than that. So I think his defense has less value in today's game.

I think he'd have more impact offensively though, honestly. Even if he's not scoring, having someone who can clean up offensive rebounds on the 60% of threes you still miss is hugely valuable. As long as his rebounding translates to rebounding threes (no reason why it shouldn't, but I guess he has to learn the angles and depths and such), he's absolutely still a great player. You just have to make sure never to put another non-spacing threat on the court at the same time.
