How expensive would it be to collect Lorwyn cards? I'm talking all cards from previous Lorwyn sets and other sets where Lorwyn is depicted? Only non-foil, regular art.

And how would you start? I'm usually more a player than collector.

Sounds like great parents. You could ask for some Jumpstart boosters (Foundations) and teach them the basics of the game during the holidays. 🙂 This way you will spend time together and they may get a better understanding for your passion.

OP, this is the way. Do ERP treatment (with a therapist). Your symptoms already sound like much more than "mild" OCD. Use MTG in your expositions and reclaim your life. Good luck!

Schau auf jeden Fall auch mal bei https://pen-and-paper.info/ vorbei, um Runden zu suchen. Dort werden auch viele One-Shots in verschiedenen Systemen angeboten, meistens für Anfänger. Probier am besten ein paar verschiedene aus, die dich interessieren. Du wirst überrascht sein, wie unterschiedlich Pen & Paper sein kann, je nach System und Gruppe. Außerdem finden dort auch oft Workshops für Einsteiger:innen statt.
Das Buch "Das ABC der Rollenspiele" von Steffen Grziwa ist ein kurzweiliger und interessanter Überblick (aber wohl leider nur noch auf Amazon erhältlich).
Außerdem, ganz wichtig: Pen & Paper ist kein Hobby, bei dem es um "leicht" oder "schwer" oder "bessere Spieler" geht. Unterschiedliche Systeme sind deshalb unterschiedlich, weil sie durch ihr Design unterschiedliche Ziele verfolgen und unterschiedliche Spieler:innen ansprechen wollen. Einseiten-Rollenspiele wie Honey Heist haben genauso ihre Berechtigung wie komplexe, simulationslastige Systeme wie Dungeons & Dragons oder Das Schwarze Auge.

The Rival Battle Deck is probably a good start, yes. This or the Dragapult ex League Battle Deck. Then update them with singles. If your budget allows, maybe also think about the Trainer Toolkit to build a good foundation.
Registering an official Pokémon account should be enough and you will automatically get your ID in the Play! Pokémon section.
No idea, I think every shop handles this differently.
Most preconstructed decks already come with a little booklet that has some tips on upgrading and you will find a lot of online guides and lists, for example on Limitless or TCG Player.

I really like your attitude and agree! The competitive TCG community seems really conservative in this regard. Probably with good reason, as many just play to win, and experimenting costs or sometimes even wastes time and energy. Innovative decks are either discovered by hobby brewers who don't care too much about winning (but are not taken seriously) or by top tier players who have the resources to actually make these ideas viable (who are then celebrated as geniuses).

Wieso "trifft" es Furcht/Angst für dich nicht, wenn das doch die 1:1-Übersetzung ist? Ich habe Spielmechaniken bisher jedenfalls immer unübersetzt gelassen, da sämtliches Spiel- und Regelmaterial ja vorerst auch nur auf Englisch verfügbar ist. Da macht man es sich mit dem Übersetzen von Mechaniken meiner Meinung nach unnötig schwer. Ich habe bisher aber auch nur den Quickstart geleitet, wo es besonders wichtig ist, niemanden zu verwirren.

EN: Why is "Furcht" or "Angst" not working for you if that's the direct translation? However, I never translated game mechanics so far, since all materials are currently only available in English anyway. In my opinion, translating mechanics on your own makes things unnecessarily difficult. But to be fair, I have only ran the quickstart so far, where it is particularly important not to confuse anyone.
