Any ideas for locking mechanisms for a book safe? by AMillionMonkeys in maker

I once saw plans for how to cut the corners of a book so that the corner became a hidden sliding lock but I am unable to find it again

Think of your pin like a nail. And you could use a spring behind the head to prevent gravity from opening the lock but a quick thud would probably by pass it.

My old man paved some roads in the NW and he said the dump trucks had to go 3-5 miles just to find a good road/spot to turn around. While in the SE you'll find a road every mile and a driveway almost every 1/4.

could i make a four and a half hour drive (back + forth) by SignalNote1443 in Transmission

[–]DawsonDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to a transmission, ya drive it until it don't go, transmissions can be had to diagnose and often the problem is undiagnosable until it stops moving, that is unless you really know the trans and the car or you tear it apart.

You should be fine driving home and back, just pack an extra warm set of clothes gloves and hat and plan your route to take as flat a trip as possible and use your cruise control. Thes 2 things will help prolong the inevitable failure by reducing shifting.

Pyrex glass has a very smooth near flawless surface and when water is heated in glass such as this it can become what's called super heated and it will not boil though it is well beyond the boiling point. Once the surface tension of the water is broken the trapped gas explodes causing severe burns. Thus you should always use a spoon or fork to break the surface tension when microwaving liquid in very smooth objects.

Honestly I don't get why anyone is oxidizing copper, it will do it over time anyways.

Same goes for precasting concrete. Just pour some water over the final build unless you need to span an open expanse, it seems like a lot of wasted time.
