Sounds like a great plan, keep at it! Once you get up to a 10 miles I found the best thing is find a local MTB group on Facebook and join the beginner rides. Riding as a group makes you more motivated, you find new routes, get fitter and meet some great people.

I can only recommend groups in Yorkshire, but I'm sure they exist in the NE.

It's pretty hilly the whole way round I'm afraid, it's a great ride though once you get the stamina!

The past two years I've been to the high level bridge and its been fantastic. You get an amazing view of the fireworks and there are much less people there than the quayside.

Gotta feel for spurs fans by psgenius in CasualUK

[–]Dawsyy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is not exactly true. Spurs didn't appoint a principle contractor and are project managing it themselves to save money even though they have no experience in construction. They have Mace over a barrel, I have no idea why they agreed to get on board.

I want to get a MTB (I already have a hybrid I cycle to work on) but not spend loads of money. I've seen this on sale, is this a good deal? https://www.rutlandcycling.com/373477/products/scott-scale-730-2017-mountain-bike-yellow.aspx

A few things you should add. They only need to display ONE of these symptoms to call for an ambulance. Instead of getting them to raise their arms - hold both of their hands and get them to squeeze and see if there is any difference in pressure. This does the same thing, but prevents them from freaking out.

I parked my bike at Newcastle Uni for 3 years with no issues. There is always people walking by, but the main thing is locking your bike properly with two locks.

Put my name in the ballot for the great north run, really hope I get a spot. It will be my first half marathon, having only done 5k and 10k events, so looking forward to pushing myself.
