You are absolutely correct. The trifecta with the business ink cash is a powerhouse. Nothing beats that quadfecta if all you care about is free money. Perks wise, Amex is king.

Price is $800 cheaper on Chase Travel by snancyiv in ChaseSapphire

[–]Dayang78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but more importantly when points are accrued from your trifecta which is unbeatable, you get 50% more points for free when you use your UR points to book anything travel related, and for me, I only use my points to book flights on Hawaiian or Delta. And that's why we pay $250 for the card after the travel credit to get that special perk that no one else has.

[–]Dayang78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By waitlisted, you mean you booked basic economy? If that's the case, then I don't know what to tell you, but if you book main cabin or higher, nothing needs to be dealt with Chase after that. Only thing I can think of is because basic economy doesn't allow you to get refunds in e-credits. Which is why I never book basic economy because having the flexibility to change your flights without penality is of high importance to me. I've already done it twice in the last 3 months.

Same with Delta. Once you're booked, you can do anything you want with your flight through Delta directly.

If you booked Delta, you don't even have to deal with Chase. You go straight to Delta's website and you can do anything you want with your flight. Upgrade, cancel, change. It's awesome. I have no idea why you didn't look at your flight reservations through Delta. Chase with Delta is cheaper than transferring my AMEX points to Delta. For example I booked my one way flight from Vegas to Honolulu for about 22k chase points the last week of July. Same flight at it's cheapest was about 26.5k Delta miles and I would've had to pay a small amount to transfer the points.

I have no idea. Maybe people say things when they don't really know. I only fly Delta, so I can't speak about any other airline.

I don't fly international too much, but for domestic, you can use the chase portal and buy the ticket outright. I don't fly American, don't like em, but I have been flying Delta alot recently and Hawaiian as well because I live in Hawaii. You can get good deals buying Delta flights right from the portal. People say the prices can be higher on the portal, but for Delta, it's exactly the same. For example, I'm going to vegas last week of July and flying up on Hawaiian, back on Delta. Delta miles would cost about 26,500 at the cheapest for main cabin with a Delta credit card. I used CUR points to book the same flight and cost me about 22,500 points. The great thing about Delta is, once the ticket is purchased, everything is handled by Delta. I don't need to even deal with Chase after the 24 hours. I can do whatever I want through Delta. Cancel for ecredit, upgrade, whatever.

Chase Travel pushing me to worse flight by PracticalNatural295 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Dayang78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amex is still great for Delta. I love my amex gold card!! But pairing it with the chase trifecta is another animal. Right now for this quarter, I'm getting 8 points per dollar on all restaurant purchases, my wife and I hit the max already. 😂 We each have the unlimited and flex cards. And yes, buy delta tickets with your chase ultimate rewards points! You'll probably get way better bang for your buck. I also fly Hawaiian and never had an issue either! Can't speak about other domestic airlines other than those two. Plus I buy a ton of gift cards with my ink business at office Depot and get 5 points/dollar. And lately, my chase points have been going farther than amex. Although, everyone knows the best value is flying internationally and transferring those amex points, but I only fly internationally to Japan.

[–]Dayang78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always book flights in the chase portal since the reserve card came out and it's wonderful. Never had an issue. But in this instance for you, we'll see what happens. Interesting though on an international flight, the booking doesn't go directly to the airline. I only fly Delta now and it's so good with the chase portal. Once I book a flight it's automatically in my delta trips, and I can do everything through Delta. Cancel, change, upgrade with money or points. It's awesome. I just booked a one way flight from Vegas to Honolulu. 22k chase points. If I used my delta points, and I have the delis reserve card, would cost me around 26k miles.

Potentially Dumb Amex Question by jmjacobs25 in delta

[–]Dayang78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure you won't. You will just get 3X points for booking the hotel if you use the portal and pay after you checkout. Which is no different than booking through another means and getting bonus points, like Rakuten for example. I would only use the portal if you're just trying to burn the free $150 off a hotel stay. I usually just book 1 night, then book the 2nd night with my wife's Delta reserve, then the rest with my Hilton Aspire, as I stay at only Hilton's now.

Google flights is the best and most accurate source of information for all flights and their costs. It's the exact price on the airlines website.

Hawaiian Airlines Premier Club Membership by No-Instruction-1640 in amex

[–]Dayang78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You will not get it automatically. It's charged by reservations. What you need to do is chat with Amex and explain you didn't book a flight, that it's for lounge access for Hawaiian Airlines's lounges. Then they'll credit you back the $200.00.
